$1275 sounds pretty much about right for my neck of the woods.
Shit mine (the bubba & sdxsb) goes for 1200!
With only a 2k perpetual I am taking care of my family (health insurance included) right now though we are just getting by.. If I could expand some *just a couple more lights* I'd be styling. When its good you don;t have to worry about it finding a home.

HEY GDAWG HAVE I TOLD YOU I LIKE YOUR STYLE HOMEY? FUCKIN AYE MAN!

Just wondering if people are still feeling that the weed market is recession proof? Any observations to share?

(don't get too specific though)

i think legalization has had more of a negative impact than the economy for the west coast but thats just my opinion

Only thing that is going to cripple the drug market, laugh... Is when everyone learns to provide their own drugs.

When I harvested my 1st year's grow, I stopped buying from the street.

It's not recession-proof, but it is recession-resistant. Business is off, no two ways about it. People are buying less quantity, and less often, than they used to. With folks losing their jobs and getting their hours cut, they have less discretionary income than before. They're gonna cut out weed before they cut out groceries. That's not true of everyone, though. MJ is a static part of many folks' budget.

Me? I'm getting by, paying my bills. Not getting rich but grateful I don't have to rely on an employer to survive.

You are hitting the nail on the head, UReap. As the economy gets worse, politicians will start looking for new areas of taxation. A lot of politicians who made their living(and got re-elected as CRIMEFIGHTERS) will have to back off as more support goes to legalizing(and heavily taxing) cannabis. Commercial growers are now in danger from the same folks who have been after them for years, but for different reasons. I suspect that the greedy pokliticians will make the mistake of placing too many taxes on pot, thus ensuring that even with legalizatuion, there will be a thriving black market in cheaper, untaxed pot.

like backwoods whiskey stills dodgin revenooers, or cigarette smuggling across native reserves.

what were the economic circumstances when gambling moved out of nevada to other states? i cant remember ... might be an interesting precedent to look at.

talking to a friend working "retail" and is pretty easy-going, he's getting what you'd expect, getting asked for credit, and racking up a bad debt list.

I don't think that the commercial weed market will ever be effected by any recession...it is true, REAL good weed will always move itself regardless of where in the country (world) you are. Plus, as long as theres a fairly big part of the market that doesn't know their bubba kush from their bushwhack so theres also always gonna be a market for shit weed! If more people knew what to actually look for, I dont think the beaster or mexi-brick market would last long

It may be much more recession-proof than being a car salesman, but one thing struck me about this thread.

We seem to be lumping marijuana demand in with demand for addictive drugs like alcohol, cigarettes and hard drugs. "They'll spend their last dollar on weed!", etc. This doesn't seem to make cannabis look as innocent as we usually portray it.

Then again, maybe it's just really good shit.

And I hear that! It's hard to stay stocked. Bottom line--depending on where you live and who you support, life is f*ckin' expensive.
