Discount Hydro / Operation green merchant

I ordered from DH a few times, I read about one incident where someone was busted this way. Before I ordered I didn't know they were advertisers in hightimes.

I also have been arrested for MJ but no charges or anything, should I be worried? Should I tear down and throwout the seeds I paid $$$ for?

Initial searches dont pull up that many busts, but if what I read is true, that a list just gets sent to LEO, I am worried they followup on these... what would someone in this situation do? No safe addy, I know not good but I couldnt break the golden rule of silence.... So yeah obviously it was bad but Is this a big enough risk to tear down over? If I tore down how long would you wait before starting back up?

If they did run my power or something I should be clean, if I knew they would be watching Id rather just tear down to play it safe tho u know.. But on the other hand if a lot of people do it then I have nothing to worry about.... I could only find 1 case ( but the fact it was fairly recent and from the SAME company deeply worries me )

How many millions of customers do you figure DH has sold grow equipment to in the last few years? Any equipment you order from them can be used to grow many kinds of plants, not just MJ. Tell no one about your grow and under no circumstances allow LEO into your house without a warrant. You'll be fine.

Yeah I hear ya, I think since there was one case they were investigating that guy anyways and the shipping records just corroborated the lead, not initiated it.... I read only they sold to 20,000 customers... you dont think >50% of them are using it for MJ? They advertise primarily in HT I asked them they said "most of our business is from mail order 'magazines'"...

I'm thinking that article was just a scare tactic, I know they cannot get a warrant from it but geez it is not comforting to know my name & addy are on some BS list somewhere, its not right that I cant sleep at night just because I bought some rockwool cubes.

Thanks for the reassurances though... I am wondering is there anyone that has ordered like lots of times regularly from them? I noticed that guy had 11 orders..

Are you talking about discount hydro in Riverside? I guarantee you they've sold to a lot more than 20k customers and I would bet my life that way more than 50% of them are dope growers.

EEEEK. Should I be worried if I have recently been ordering from them but I don't grow and had it sent to a different address with another name on it?

Order a bunch of gun parts, and legal chemicals that confuse them that you might be on a war path.........then the growing becomes not such a big deal, and they never had enough for the ATF.

All the while corresponding through the snail mail with Foreign countries with rebel issues.

Lysol, How big is your op?

When was the last time we heard of a major bust involving one 250 watt lamp and a single plant worth $500 on the street? Unless it's some idiot on youtube thumbing his nose or making a 911 call, you never see this. Stay small and you're just not worth their time and effort.

Umm, how could we hear of a 'major' bust in the amounts combined?

I got searched by the SWAT team in 1989 for 2 plants under 1 bulb, albeit a 1000w bulb. I can't say it was because of any other reason than stupidity on my part, but it was everyday, normal, run of the mill stupidity that I've noticed most people suffer from time to time. Then again there wasn't an Internet community of growers back then to learn from. I did know enough to refuse permission to search my car when the cop realized it wasn't within the scope of the warrant and got some perverse pleasure from the way he fishmouthed in surprise when I refused. Anyway, it never made the paper or media, so maybe that has something to do with why we never hear about it. I rarely hear about people getting arrested for shoplifting, but I know it happens every day, it just isn't newsworthy.

Cuz there are murder's all the time up here on the East Coast that never make the papers.. That is really sad.. Sometimes it get's a few lines in the middle of the papers but in city's like Philly and Baltimore there is basically 1 murder everynight... So it's commonplace here nobody hear's about it.. Every once in awile a high profile case gets huge coverage.. Usually a white girls who is raped and killed inside her apatmwnt or a kid that took a stray through a window or something nuts like that.. But the regular run of the mill drug executions that happen daily haha they don't even get a mention.. My brother and his girlfriend got murdered and it didn't make T.V. in Philly.. It was in the papers tho..

If at all possible I suggest to always drive to get your supplies if possible. I don't believe in leaving any form of paper trail at all. If you do have to order, if you have a grow going I wouldn't advise delivering to the grow.

With Operation Green Thumb, delevery companies are allegedly turning delivery info off to Leo for investigations. Is it true? I don't know. Because of what could happen, you need to assume it is. If this Operation is correct, it could be any invoices from any hydroponic store......

It was and those of us who lived through it remember it well. Not only did UPS give up their pick-up and delivery records to the D.E.A., the grow stores involved weren't exactly 'stand-up guys' either.

Operation Green Merchant was also known as the 'Other Black Thursday' which was the day the bust went down.

George Cervantes' store in Portland was of particular interest. As was the store of Tom Alexander down in Corvallis, Oregon because he was the publisher of Sinsimellia Tips which was, at the time, the only legitimate source of 'how to grow' - they went after these 2 guys BIG TIME.

Weird times indeed.

There's been articles regarding it again in the last few months..... Some still call it operation green merchant but I think the revised investigations are referred to as Operation Green Thumb......

Ah yeah good info, no grow stores near me.. I already had a ballast, and yeah my op is small time. I'm sure if they start working down the list I wont be the first they bust so I'd have plenty of time to hear about it and tear down anyways. Thanks for all the responses
