The oven method to activate it is ideal. My only complaint is that if any carbon falls on the element, or you use a gas stove, carbon represents a fire hazard if you are not extremely careful. I've had good luck with the kitty litter crystals mixed with carbon. They both work differently, and the crystals are almost infinitely chargeable.

I didn't know the non-activated worked that well.

I've been going to the local K-mart and getting the activated pellets, they're about 1.5 cm, then I take a hammer to them and break 'em up smaller for more surface area. I still get some smell coming through so need to pack more in.

I also got some of that fish filter wool that does pretty much nothing, I use it just to keep the carbon in place.

So are you pushing or pulling through the scrubber?

BC, may I ask which section of K-mart it's in? I had no idea they sold it. Reading the wikipedia page I can see that activated is going to work better for sure but like I said, it's just not needed for me. The last week or two I've been smelling tiny, tiiiny wafts occasionally in the night when I wake up, but not enough to warrant alarm. Several visitors have reported no smell at all even day before harvest. I'll try the incense trick again and see how it fares now but yeah, it works better than people make out.

I'll be pushing AND pulling. Two directly stacked thermaltakes pushing (on a higher speed, muffled by carbon filter) and one thermaltake hopefully on a lower speed pulling, where the air exits the filter. That's three bomb-ass fans essentially stacked inline. I would have to be doing something really wrong for this not to work, I reckon. The average pc fan has say, 2mm/h2o pressure, and each thermaltake has 6 point something. Then stacked so the pressure is going to be through the roof!

Day 70 - 12/12

Just pulled the Pure. It should dry a lot slower without a couple hundred watts in there 12 hours a day, lol. This had quite a few ambers on it which is just what I wanted. The Shivas had less but that's cool. I like the Pure for it's heavy narcotic properties so I hope this brings it out.

I've been trimming the Shivas just now, they certainly dried fast but they're still not quite at the snappy stems stage. Amazing smoke and surprisingly not harsh considering it was essentially speed dried, and obviously not cured yet.

Got a decent blob of finger hash too

Pics and weights to come at some stage but I think I'll be pretty close ~ 2 to 2.5 oz from the whole lot.

Ok I'm done trimming the Shivas! I hate trimming SO much. Here's a few pics until I can get scales. Those jars each hold about an oz+ with the usual stuff I grow. This is a lot smaller fluffier nugs so who knows.

It's like there's a party in my brain and Shiva is invited! :friends:

Scrub, you can usually find it in the pet section, they should have a smaller aquarium section, I went to see if they had a bubbler, they didn't but saw activated carbon so picked up a couple of boxes, about AUD$6.

Hi all The Pure is drying so much better. I've even been running the dehumidifier a little today since the lights aren't burning.

Bass, I went there today but my local didn't have any. Cheers though. There's still a couple of home brewing stores I haven't been to, I think they might have some.

Cheers DI, great to read you man! Hope you kept your girls going! The jars are just some cheap old things from the dollar store. They're glass except the very top of the lid is clear plastic. Very hard to find all glass containers. Seems like anything that can be used for dope is hard to find for me? lol

There's still exchanges and conversions 'n stuff going on within the plant. I dunno, I don't pretend to understand it, but sugars blah blah carbohydrates blah blah. etc.

Thanks medsy they're small but potent, lol. Well, the numbers are in! I got a smidge over 2 z's.

Shiva Skunk scrog total: 40gm
The Pure total: 17gm
Finger Hash total: 0.2gm

And I guess about an ounce or less of decent trim, I haven't looked at it all together, but I'll be making some munchies with that.

Well, I guess that about wraps it up then. Glad you guys could follow along and thanks for the help along the way. Overall, I'm not actually that impressed by CFLs, I just have to add that in. It's given me enough high quality weed to last until next harvest though so definitely not complaining. And to be fair to CFLs, I was running some very low wattages there for a while.

Really looking forward to the pl-l's in the new cab! I think I mentioned but I also want to start building a wardrobe in a while. I will probably go 250 HPS for that.

I just read thru your whole grow and im impressed!!!! Did you figure out how much your yeild was? I also use Dutchmaster Gold grow and flower, i use MAX grow and flower with zone and silica and i use Bloombastic as the PK boost and it gets the buds FAT and frosty!! Cant wait to see your next grow! PEACE

thouse buds look so dam good, oooo man what I wouldn't do for a toke of thoue.

also I dry the same way as u did. it does slowly brake down the very last of the sugars. I read it somewhere on the internet a few years back.

Growmeds: Hehe, yeah I'll miss this floppy old thing. If I ever do a tent again I'll probably clone your setup. The lack of height/access is what annoyed me most about mine.

Christen23: lol I posted it a few posts before yours, bro. 2oz all up. I'd like to calculate the gpw but it's sort of impossible as the wattage slowly increased as I went along, but very very roughly, I think I got a staggering 0.25gpw. Do you have any threads where you've used Max? I'd be very interested.

#1cheesebuds: Glad you can confirm My friend trims it on the plant sometimes days before harvest and it's just so wrong imo. I can definitely verify the slow dried Pure (straight after harvest) was a lot smoother than the quickly dried Shiva straight after harvest.
