I'm going through the same thing right now, myself.

On the upside, Cali has nice weather and some of my friends who just got back on a recent trip to SoCal told many stories of seeing people smoking and passing in the outdoor smoking section of the nightclubs... which would be great. (I'd love to go out and have a good time but I'm not much of a drinker... that would change everything for me.)

Being able to walk into a dispensary, buy a sample of something and then come back later and buy a clone of that very plant without having to look over my shoulder for LEO? Sounds too good to be true.

The downsides: water rationing, high cost of living, traffic, potential for blackouts or total state government bankruptcy!

It's a toss-up. If they can get the "total legalization" thing passed, I'll move there. Til then, I'm still on the fence.

Not to mention the restrictions on everything else (Read: cell phones banned)

I moved from there due to the high cost, high population, high smog, and corrupt police.

BUT there are places where everyone smokes ganga, which was sweet.

If I were you, I'd visit for a few weeks and see if it's really all the hype you expected.

"If they can get the "total legalization" thing passed, I'll move there."

Exactly. I don't care which one does it, the first state that passes total legalization gets my income tax :)

I moved here in 2004. I agonized over the decision, leaving my established life of 4 decades behind, moving to a foreign place, finding a new job, etc etc etc. Now just give me a minute to remember the name of the place I used to live...it was definitely in the eastern US...

I say Yes!

I say it's time for you to give your current friends & neighbors a break, it'll be good for the local economy too as it'll raise real estate values when you move.......

not sure where you are or anything but the competition is hectic and prices out there arent anything you will recieve most other places in the U.S. if your trying to make your way as a grower...although if your nervous of gettin rid of it def go to cali... you can establish a good relationship with a club (if your shits what they want) and get rid of everything you have and some to them if its good enough and their in need....but as i said if your in it to make cash stick to some place where its scarce and you can charge what you want ( i know people are gonna blast me for this but im just tellin the truth)

Depends on what part of Cali...as for Los Angeles, I left there about 20 years ago and never looked back. :abduct: Here is a quote to sum things up :
"L.A. is like a chick who used to be hot, but she's lost her looks, she's sun-blasted, and her boobs are sagging, but she still has all the attitude of the hot chick. Tons of attitude but nothing you'd want to see naked anymore." - Adam Carolla

I lived in Santa Cruz, California, for 20 years and still think about going back due to the peaceful nature of the place and its people. I am now in the UK where i think i will stay for now considering the atrocious and barbaric laws that are being passed on a daily basis in the country that likes to call itself "The Leader Of The Free World". To me its more like " The Leader Of The Oppressed World".

If you are feeling like moving anywhere in the US i would have to suggest California for its peaceful, generally speaking, people. And if you are a keen gardener there are loads of places to grow your "crops" with an abundance of free solar radiation.

Don't take this the wrong way, and it is not really personal, as this exact topic comes up every week.

Making a decision to live someplace because of relaxed weed laws is really juvenile, and your asking that sort of thing makes you seem like a kid. You have to have something else in your life besides smoking weed.

I lived in San Diego in the early 80s. I was in the Navy, young, had a motorcycle. I had some money in my pocket, a place to live, and meals. It was some of the best times of my life, but if I didn't have the job or the other things it would have sucked. And the economy, although pretty bad, is nothing like it is now.

I seriously doubt that Califonia needs another weed bum.

(I didn't vote)

Hello all,

Got to agree with Randude (I also was in the Navy in San Diego in the late 70's) on this one.

The economy sucks (and it was lie the worlds 7th or 8 largest) at the moment and the State can't even pay its bills (like a lot of us).

Stay where you are.

If you are a good grower and have connections you can make a shit ton of money very easily.
Plenty to go around.
Don't forget that northern, central, and southern Cali are very different from each other.
Southern being L.A-San Diego area, central being Sacramento/San Fransisco, and northern being from Ukiah up to the Oregon border.

Have you visited first?

I seriously doubt that Califonia needs another weed bum.

Understated. I think a few million people have already come up with this. Can the power companies keep up?

I don't think Bay Area to Baja needs another anyone.

Wonder what would happen there if the laws changed and LE went after indoor growers.

Visited several times for both work and vacation, spent a few weeks there, driving north along the coast. If I decide to move from the midwest, it will be to WA or maybe OR.

CA and LA seem overrated by the natives, while in Seattle they let everyone think that it's a dreary gloomy place to live, so no one else moves there.

Go, have fun, look around, its a big place. It will be exactly how good or bad as you make it. Travel very light and be free. Worse that can happen is that you end up saying "Should I stay or should I go?"
You may not get another chance again, and I wouldnt bet on seeing it after you die. (YMMV)
PS; bring extra rubbers and keep yer money in yer shoe.

Something that would make someone more money than growing is smuggling from California to some other place (like where I am at now, for instance).
