Dutch May Stop Cannabis Tourism!

The Dutch populace, especially cannabis smokers will LOVE THIS. In fact there's something appealing in this situation for all Dutch.

1. Dutch cannabis growing may finally be legalized.
2. There will be no imports from other countries, which might lessen selection, but increase Dutch growing business.
3. Dutch cannabis consumers will be once again able to smoke tobacco with cannabis in these clubs.
4. The Dutch won't have to put up with the stupid American & Brits getting shitfaced and watching them collapse.
5. The visibility of cannabis consumption will disappear, something most Dutch ppl would applaud.
6. Dutch "clubs", won't have to deal with the police coming in and trying to find something to shut them down. This is a big deal for coffeeshops now. So their worries about that will disappear.
7. Quality control for cannabis will take effect.

So the changes benefit Dutch growers, Coffeeshop Owners, Cannabis Consumers, the Dutch public, and the conservative Dutch. They found something to please every Dutchman.

But obviously it would hurt a LOT of Dutch business financially, and believe it or not, that has always been first priority for Holland... Profits! They don't resemble the Ferengi for nothing... ;)

So yes, how it finally plays out will be a result of social vs financial interests. My guess is the Dutch will end up selling less than 1/3rd as much cannabis as they do now. And prices would probably go down as more Dutch grow. The result, much less profit for growers there.

haha.... access has it....!

Vote these CURS out..>!!

The RLD does suck, though, I rarely even step foot near it...

Isn't it enough that the rest of the world wants to save us from ourselves.?!?!?!

Is this primarily pressure from the EU member states, or the You Ess Ay...? Or more a "border province issue" as in the tourists from Belgium, Germany, etc....?

The Puritans have risen...!!! Throw the Bums out.>!!!!

We are depending on you... Oh, You lovely, evolved Dutch... Please do this thing..>!!!

99% problems I've seen in Amsterdam are alcohol based, not cannabis related.

The stumbling, drunken, pissing, vomiting, thieving, loud mouthed, cheapskate, aggressive groups of assholes on a 2 day holiday need to be banned or discouraged while gentle red eyed tourists are an asset, not a problem and should be promoted.

Who do the average Dutchman want to see visiting their country..groups of drunken soccer hooligans flying in on 25 quid air tickets who spend as little as possible while acting like assholes or a couple of pot smokers from the US who will spends thousands of dollars on their ten day holiday?

If you've never been to Amsterdam i suggest you get your asses over there and have fun while you can. The Dutch will never ban it the rest of the world is going to catch up to it. If one state in the US legalizes it Amsterdam will grind to a halt. Other states here will follow and soon the only thing people will want to go to Amsterdam for is the whores and to see the King of Cann....

Seriously, if Spain legalizes like Amsterdam why wouldnt you go there first? The novelty will be gone.

California needs to take advantage of this. Amsterdam 2: The Bowl is Re-lit

Although, I could see many problems, becoming a tourist state that is pro-weed.
More crimes? More revenue to prevent those tourist related crimes. Such as over pricing tourists and what-not.

Just a thought, as California is very desperate for money. Cali is completely and utterly broke.

I've got ninety thousand pounds in my pyjamas,
I've got forty thousand french francs in my fridge.
I've got lost of lovely lire,
Now the Deutschemark's getting dearer,
And my dollar bills would buy the Brooklyn Bridge.
Chorus: There is nothing quite as wonderful as money,
There is nothing quite as beautiful as cash.
Some people say it's folly,
But I'd rather have the lolly,
With money you can ma-ake a splash.
Finale: There is nothing quite wonderful as money,
(money,money,money,mon
ey)
There is nothing like a newly minted pound,
(money,money,money,money)
All: Everyone must hanker for the butchness of a banker,
It's accountancy that makes the world go round.
(round,round,round)
You can keep your Marx
ist ways
For it's only just a phase.
For it's money money money makes the world go round.
(money,money,money,money
money,money,money,money

Heh.. I went I saw...

It really sucks for many Dutch, to be a minority.

In Amsterdam, at times, it's like that.

Maybe if they all start wearing bright colors they might feel better?

It is a lot of work to keep up with growing tourism. That's probably one of the factors.. Why work more?

Hell skip taking the trash out of my room every day.. It will go well with them not cleaning the bathroom on a daily basis. Why should they even if I pay 90 euros a night?

LOL

I enjoyed Amsterdam.. It is a tourist town..

I will go back again but not if I can't smoke cannabis.. I have enough pictures.

In the autum they will talk about a new drugspolicy. The question if it is allowed in EU terms to say no to non-residents to buy marijuana at a local coffeeshop.

To change a coffeeshop into a club is not a part of the Dutch culture anyway like what you have in several states in the US, although thats only for medical use and not recreational.

During Queensday this year, 62 times the ambulance was needed in Amsterdam for alcohol relating problems and none for Cannabis.Evaluation at the local health service was asked by August de Loor of the Drugs Advice Bureau.

....This would effectively cripple their tourism which is a huge chunk of the total economy, I doubt it would ever happen.

I hope not. But we shall see what the people want.
Have not been there yet, but have heard some horror stories of misbehaving tourists causing trouble everywhere.
As it always is.. A small percentage of douchebags can spoil the fun for everyone.

I am sorry but there is only so much Gouda, Windmills and canals i can take so if they cut off one of their sources of revenue it is going to hurt their economy. Either way you look at the situation those tourist spend a lot more money than on weed alone. When i lived in Germany we made a day of it and spent loads of money over there and most of it was not on weed but consumables.

If they want to cut off their nose to spite their face that is their prerogative but it does not make any sense. On the other hand i can sympathize with those border towns and having all that traffic since they are the only nation on earth that has a realistic and sensible drug policy so of course there is going to be traffic. This does not stop the Dutch themselves from buying the goods and doing the trade themselves with the foreigners while they are in their country but i think this is a step backwards and could lead to criminal events with people getting ripped off and shot.

Who the hell would visit the netherlands if not allowed to buy pot? lol

That's pure madness, even if i agree that it might be a little bad to just have tourists who want to get high lol but hey, it's their only way to get a decent number of tourist lol

I say "What's the big deal?" I think we'll be seeing it legal in Cali before too long. I'll make the road trip.
