In soil the molasses feeds the microbes that will digest some of the nutrients remaining in the soil and the mollasses will pick up some free nutes during flushing. Molasses in a hydrobath will probably grow slime. I know you can add a bit now and then without problems. ElGato switched from Carboload to Molasses during flowering with no ill effects.
If you're careful with the nutes and reduce as the plant slows down the buildup isn't as severe. Those products are for the guys that pour the nutes and want to go from 1000ppm to chopping in one week.
Boy I could sure see a difference between LUI#1 in an 8" pot and LUI#2 rootbound in a 6" pot. LUI#1 showed nute buildup and I just watered with molasses for two weeks and it had a gracefull slowdown. LUI#2 showed tip burn, nute buildup, and then pulled def's and ended real quick once I went to water/molasses. There's a balance between rez/pot size and the final amount of nutes both in the plant and available for takeup.
