Hey all.

Made a decision on the first project. Gonna go with this mini cabinet as it seems the most practical.

Really we needed to get started asap. Veg for maybe 3.5 weeks and then go straight to 12/12.

Starting with 4 26w 6500k and 2 40w 2700k Ciffles..

For the mounting I went the noob route and got two powerstrips and some socket to light adapters (which was actually cheaper than pigtailing an old cord and buying the 9.98 3 fixture vanity. I'll learn the wiring for the next box).

As far as maximizing yield, can anyone give tips or suggestions? Will go for whatever method.

Would like to go with soil but I don't know much about any of the organic stuff discussed in the forum. I'll have to read up on specifics and head down to the shop for good mixes, but any general tips would be appreciated.

Here's where I'm at as of now. Need to find a timer that accommodates a ground plug and I'll be set.

Will update when cab is totally finished.

Peace.

Oh yeah; any tips on lightproofing/light traps? The hinges raise the doors off of the frame of the cabinet about 1/16th of an inch and I'm not creative enough to figure this out.

A common way to seal the light from the doors is to mount some weather-stripping to fit against it snugly when the doors are closed.

From the looks of things, 3.5 weeks of veg is going to be way too much for your ceiling height unless you start to LST very very early. Might wanna shoot the moon at 1 week or as soon as you notice real growth.

id use pl-ls if i were you mate, even cfls will use too much headroom in that cab!

Looks the perfect cab for a cfl or pll scrog. How much height do you have? It looks like you removed the top shelf?

Got a little less than 1.5' of total headroom, not counting cfl mounts.

The top drawer has been removed for gutting but the face of the drawer will be permanently sealed on once everything has been set up.

Wow that's a small unit! I recently designed a scrog cab and it was going to have that same height, so I'd lean towards scrog personally. If I was doing that I'd run 2 plants in their own pots and attach square scrog screen to the pots. That way you can remove them to trim up the underscrog easily and generally have clear access. It'd be pretty squeezy in there.

Any good resources for the scrog method?

A standard search and DIY-LINK-O-RAMA yield less than satisfactory results.

i would read up on lst and practice it in this cab you'll be able to make any strain fit when you get good at it:woohoo:

Create a false door out of that shiny foam insulation stuff (not sure what it's called or used for), secure it on one side with tape and the other three sides with velcro. Here's how I did it:

Would a dual intake of 80mm pc fans with an outake of a single 120mm w/ a scrubber be enough to keep this bitch cool? I might use 2 80mm for out take so I can attach a scrubber to each.

Let me know what you guys think.

Just got back from the final trip for supplies.

PLEASE tell me these fans can work! I believe I have some spare DC adapters, if not I gotta do a return.

Now I just gotta figure out how to wire these bitches.

Gonna have to figure out exactly how I'll make it accommodate one of those 120mm fans....maybe a bit of duct work..

So I take it that I'm fuct on wiring these cpu fans...do I really need a converter?

Edit: NVM, just two wires. Will connect to basic 2 cord power supply.

So folks, here's where I'm at.

Blew one of the fans being a noob dumbass wiring. Too much power to it. The one is pretty powerful as it is though, should be great for exhaust. Hopefully I can get away with an 80mm for intake now...?

Dude you dont even need intake. Get a hole saw and put like two 1.5 to 2 inch holes in there. I think wally world sells this black foam stuff for filters or whatnot(sorry for being so vague). Anyway take that and cover your holes to stop some light pouring out. Your exhaust will pull it in.
Plus that will create negative pressure so that you dont have any leaks.
