hydrogen co2 generator

I brought a hydrogen propane co2 generator about 3 weeks ago and it caught fire I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. It was working fine and then bam lost my whole crop about 35 days into flower with 25 days to go the good thing is my place didnt burn down probably because of nagetive pressure.

Are you fucking serious? What was your electrical load around there? You're sure it was the CO2 gen?
Thats crazy though man! Glad your place didn't go up.
So no one reported any smoke or nothing?

Its a CO2 generator that burns propane or natural gas. It uses water pushed through it to ignite and burn. So a CO2 controller would actually actuate a water pump to start Co2 production. 2 D size batteries provide ignition. There is no 120V supplied to it. It is basically a tankless hot water heater converted to a CO2 generator. The purpose is the water that is heated, removes heat from the room.

I am not feeling my hydrogen units. At times I come in and see Co2 at 290, then I power cycle the water pump, and the generator starts burning. I think when it fails to ignite, it doesnt retry enough. I know my sentinel would retry several times and never had an issue with it not starting.

Now I am really curious to know what happened here. What caused the fire? Was there a gas leak? internal or external? All I need is for one of my units to catch fire........

You need to get some pictures up, make shure you show the whole room. What did Hydro Innovations say when you contacted them about it?

Thanks em i have followed you and know that you know you're stuff as for the cause it is unknown I was running the unit for maybe a month with no problems.I took it back to the store i brought it from the guy is real cool even explained the whole unit to me thats why i brought it I liked the set-up of the hydrogen and then this going back to the tanks.

holly crap.. got any pics?
I do but I dont know how to post them I took them to show the guy at the store the damage didnt do that much damage to the room but it destroyed my whole crop as ive said i think the negetive pressure saved me. thank for your concern you and all

Thanks Em I've been following you for sometime and I know you no you're stuff. As for what caused the fire I don't know but I'm sure it wasn't a gas leak.I had the unit for about a month now without any problems.I took it back to the store yesterday and the guy was shocked as hell to see what i brought him back said he's not selling anymore and has no way to get in contact with the other people he sold them too I really liked the unit because of how it ran(hydrogen)clean not alot of heat I really liked the unit but then fire! Now I'm scared of it and all generators I was using a water pump and I don't live at the location where the fire started.so I wasn't there but when I went there thats when I seen the damage

Thanks cot I just took it back to the store I brought it from he refunded my money and apologized because I brought it because he explained the unit to me in detail. As for the pictures I took them on my phone Just to show the guy at the store i'll try to get them on here but I really dont know how to. I always just read about things on the site for general info never thought this would happened thats why i posted this.

I have run the water heater version of the hydrogen since the beginning of december 08 with no problems .I opened it up recently to water proof the battery compartment and saw no sign of trouble .
Wonder if a faulty regulator could cause a flame up?Not much to burn in there but enough plastic to cause alota nasty smoke.
Wasnt an electrical fire ,did it look like it originated near the igniter?

I dont plan on removing mine .7 months of daily use and periodic inspections tells me its safe .It would be nice to hear what the true cause was thou .
These are cheap chinese products you can expect a manufaturing flaw from time to time

I've recently went to the store where I brought it and he said that he was going to contact the company don't know if he did or not as of yet but I think that you are right Bozo it had to have had to do with the igniter or the regulator because it wasn't electrical at all. I actually didn't take it apart just took it back to the store i brought it from I'm not bashing the product at all because I really liked it maybe I just got a bad one. And thank you Bozo I know that you have a great deal of knowledge of growing because I've seen you on the other site along with this one and actually built my first bubble cloner after you. It actually did look like it originated near the igniter now that I think about it because the igniter is at the bottom on the unit.

I guess the new hydrogens coming out have the gas flare fitting factory installed on the bottom of the unit since some people weren't putting teflon tape on the threads and they were leaking gas.

What store did you get yours from, did he tell you to put teflon tape on?

Heres my verdict

Sentinel VG 27. Never an issue, not once in a year.

Hydrogen. We just seem to have alot of issues with them not starting. Sometimes when I check, I see my PPM at 300. I unplug my pump from the controller, wait a minute, and plug it back in and it works. It seems like the relighting process needs some improvment

Last issue. Couldnt get one unit to stay lit. Tried different batteries, new tank, etc. Finally I turned the water regulator to the minimum and it stayed lit. turned the water up and it went out. So its obviously in the water regulator, now its real low. Maybe I misunderstand the process but it was my understanding I could turn the water up to keep the unit cooler. doesnt do much good if I have to keep it low.

No phone # for support. So I cant even call when I am on site

Bottom line is I have a $1M operation depending on these units and they are getting replaced soon. I just dont feel comfortable with them working properly.

No he didnt cot he had one in the back of the store one day because someone couldn't work it properly so he showed it to me running and I basically fell in love with the thing I'm not sure if he even knew to tread the thing but thanks because I'm going to take this info back to him and see what he has to say about it.

Hey Em Thanks I really don't know how you have time.I had a problem with turning the gas pass minimum it wouldn't ignite so I keep it on the minimum setting and everything was fine, but the night before I left I had turned the water regulator on the unit up to keep it cool as you mentioned it stayed lit but something must have went wrong it could have been that but I really couldn't say and I"ll leave with the guy's who have the experience I'm just a noob still trying to learn a thing or two. But I have learned alot and I'll keep it at that.

I emailed the company with a ton questions and was able to talk with the owner direct, give it a shot he new the unit to the smallest screw and got me up and running , my problem was the pump was too weak to keep the unit lit.
