what animal leaves these tracks?

I agree with Lolagal. That's an unmistakable canid print. Some sort of feral dog or coyote. Coyote's have an incredible and ever increasing range.

Dude, my bad, thought you were in the nortern hemisphere. Yea, definetly not a coyote in south america. I still think its a canine, most likely a dog. A bear would have 5 distint toes and leave a deeper imprint.

that is a puma track or panther..i have to look at some photos i took of some tracks of them ..ill try and remember to come back to this post.... good luck ..oh and keep your neck hidden.. they will strike from behind and .. well .. that will be it..

Sorry Vince was completely wrong. I personally think that it would belong to a small bear or a cat of some sort, since you say there are pumas I agree with that. I'm just glad you didn't run into that guy, with the looks of it he/she could have clawed your face off. ~Mia

Lola, mr, ganja, grim, et all, yeah, i think it was a dog too, a feral dog or maybe a dog from the farm that is next to the national park... i asked some of the guys that work in that farm, they say that the big cats do not go there, they know so because if they did, the cats would eat the cows and sheep that roam freely in their huge farm.

but still, the nails in the pictures i took look too big for a dog? i dunno. i compared them to my dog´s tracks and my dogs do not leave such big nails.

um....

from the size of the track it would have to be a St Bernard to be that big....

It definitely looks like a dog print, but way too big.... Perhaps the mud is making us think he is bigger than he is. If the dog were running that would explain the deeper displacement of the mud and the longer looking nails... dunno Ain't no dog I wanna run up on... be careful out there Paz!

elephant lol yeah, that is it!

um... a fox or fox-like animal? or a saint-bernard type of dog? could be a local breed dog which is similar to the saint bernard...

i may have to climb one of those pine trees that give me view into the forest as well as to the edge, and hang out up there checking things out for a few hours, see what walks around there :chin:
