Veg Time for plants in 32 oz bottles?

I remember reading somewhere that plants will double in size during flowering
I've read that many times. I find it sketchy. SEEMS to me that flowering adds an amount of growth, and whether that adds up to a doubling in size depends on the size of the plant to begin with. Smaller plants, yeah I guess they could easily double in size. Large plants? No.

veg time does NOT correspond to the final yield.
It's a mixture of 1. Veg Time, 2. Pot Size and Medium used, 3. amount of light, 4. the canopy space the plants have, and of course genetics.

You can put a plant in 32 oz bottles and veg them for half a year, they won't yield an ounce... But... vegging a plant 2 weeks in a 5 gal tub is almost sure to yield an ounce. See where i am trying to get at here?

Space is limited under the 150w HPS...how significant of on increase in yield can I expect by transplanting to 1 gallon pots? Is it reasonable to expect going from 7 grams per plant to say, a 1/2 oz or more per plant?

I have similar - 13k vs 16k - lumens in my cab to your 150hps. I see a bare minimum of 14g in a gallon... and that was on a first-run with a plant that stretched only about 40% of what I'd allowed for.

One I have going now I'd estimate to be around 20-24g. (My best plant in 32oz containers was just shy of 10g, to reference what the cab can do.)

thanks man!

yeah, they're all 20 days as of today..

they've been on 12/12 since last Saturday...they should show sex soon, I'm hoping.

Are you thinking of Topping them or FIMing?
Im going to top or Fim mine for the first time ever, I'm doing overkill on research before I even hold my pre dipped in alcohol Exacto knife in my hand though. ~Vince

hes already in 12/12, he can topp but its going to kill his stretch dead.

OP, scan on to the 2nd page of the micro forums and read the thread "Compact SOG with CFLs" by DrBudGreenGenes. It'll teach you an amazing amount about stretch in early flower, growing in small containers, short veg times, maximising yield etc. A word of advice, on the first post in the thread, click on DrBud's name and filter posts by him.. cuts out a lot of the shit people talk and leaves the learnin' right there.

The Dr and his disciples seem to get ~7g from 16oz in soil. I did a few plants in pint cups, 4, 6, 8, 8, 9 g respectively from a decent hybrid with good feeds, good compost, and a fairly good lighting array. Don't know about your 32oz bottles but with a good grow regime, vegged for the right time (i vegged to 7" but that's really strain dependant) you should be able to top that.. the secret to growing like this is "know your strain" - you won't get top yields till you've had a couple through and can dial it into your setup.

I think I see balls on the biggest plant now...not sure though. From my experience, the big ones are usually males...shiznit! The other two have not shown anythng yet.

I feel like such a newb doing this now after 5 years of not growing.

now that they're in 1 gallon containers, I feel a lot better.

Okay...I know I overwatered two of them earlier in the week cuz they drooped...they were recovering slowly as the soil dried out..they were dry 2 inches down and were very light...so yesterday I transplanted them into 1 gallon pots and had to water them again to get them out of the container easily..

so what I want to know is, how long until they recover from overwatering?

Woops sorry bro forgot they were in flower mode (when I asked about FIM or topping).
I'm waiting to hear an answer too bro on the overwatering. ~Vince

best way to avoid over watering is to water using the submersion method. dunking the container in water and letting the soil wick up the water. dr bud's thread will teach you more about it, along with a few others around here on the topic.
