ok so i will be re building my growbox soon and i wanted to ask a few questions..

first i will start with the drawings of the new box then ask the questions
the grow area is the big white one and it has the dimensions of 33"wide/38"tall/24deep

the white cylinder is the S&P 100x 4" fan
and the black is a carbon filter

i was wondering if that fan would be enough to cool a 250watt mh or 250watt hps i use the sunsystems supersun reflector and it has the glass and everything with the 4" duct adapters i will use 4" thermoflo ducting and light tight 8x8 louver

also i already have the botanicare microgarden hydro system so i will be installing the res down in the bottom chamber and the tray will sit all the way down with the top lip of the tray on the bottom of the gro chamber.

also... the front i need help with hinges.. and doors and such i dono how im gona make light tight..

i will be doing scrog at a good height

any comments or questions would be very appriciated also i will prob start a diary soon for the box build!

lightproof doors

lightproof doors

Hey KickNader,

For the recessed doors I made 1/2" frames and set them back 3/4" from the front edge of the cabinet.

Make the doors out of 1/2" wood and use 1/4" weather seal on the frames for a perfect light tight seal!

Hope that helps.

On my last build the hinges were freaking me out. Neither me nor my buddy helping had ever dealt with them. Just get the cupboard/kitchen type hinges. They are sort of spring loaded so the door shuts with force, not just two bits of metal hinged together like the old school hinges. They had instructions and a template in the pack, it was pretty straight forward after studying them for 10 minutes. I just had to buy a huge borer type of drill bit, they mentioned it on the pack in the "You will need..." segment.

And when you go to buy them, they all have different angles of operation. Take note. They also give you an idea of if the hinge will support your weight of door. And make sure the wood you're affixing the door/hinges to is sturdy enough to support that weight.

I've heard that those larger louvers are fine. I used the 4 inch round ones, and can only say: DON'T.

For the ventilation, based on my experience, the TD-100 is -not- powerful enough to exhaust a cab of that size with an HPS, and absolutely not with any kind of filtration.

As for light-proofiness....you're asking the wrong dude, dude. :)

Nice design though, wish I had drawing skills :(

Looks like you got a good setup going on there man. Biggest challenge for me is the door setup. If you follow luv2garden's door setup, you'll be straight.

Good luck.

so recently ive been having heat problems with my current box.. so im going to getting more for the next Build..

wondering if i could use this fan with my 100x s&P with 2 carbon filters the s&p would be hooked to cooltube and carbon and only come on with the light the panasonic would be on all the time and be passive pulling then into a carbon filter.

will the panasonic one work?

thx been kinda busy my sketches arent up to speed with my head yet.. will post when i get some sort of workin senario.. :p

would that work with 400watt? i was thinkin i might upp it after a bit.. i dont wana build a whole new box.. s&p is rated at 135cfm and the panasonic is rated at 120cfm with .2 static pressure so total 245 or so..
