MEDICAL marijuana- NEW YORK- TUESDAY?

Well, I'm watching a tv show called Marijuana Inc. (documentary- interview show style on NBC).. then brushing teeth up and going to bed.

When I wake tomorrow I'll eat some breakfast shower, check the news and turn on the TV and watch the senate live to see how they treat the bill.

Thanks for all the support everyone. Including new yorkers and out of staters. It means something to me to see people supporting eachother for a greater good.

If not this year stay positive everyone, our time will come soon enough!
(this is easy for me to say but i don't know how much i'll be able to stay positive.. High hopes)

Rest well tonight new york it's a big day tomorrow.

That actually sounds like a good idea.

got a time \ channel ?? :)

I don't know the channel but the session starts at 12:00 noon EST (I imagine only broadcast in NY since its NY Senate lol)

The channel uh Cspan or something? I just flip through the channels until I find it (looks just like a bunch of people sitting down one person speaking at a time in an official government sanctioned setting. - state capitol building in albany)

you'll find it i'm sure. It's the senate committee on health that starts at noon but the channel probably starts broadcasting senate stuff in the early AM 9 or 10..

Im guessing it will be looked at between 12 and 1245

You can find it by going to the ny.us Senate calendar HERE and clicking the Health agenda link.. It will be the 6th bill from the top of the list.. I dont know if they follow this order or if it is merely numerical order on the website. (no matter there is only 10 things on the list to look at for the health committee so we will see)

Goodnight new york

hmm, under the "sponsors memo" I read this:

New §3367 requires the commissioner to apply to the United States
government for permission to implement sections 3364, 3365 and 3366 of
this title and states that these sections shall not go into effect
unless and until there is a receipt of permission from the federal
government advising the department that the implementation of these
rules will be allowable under federal law; or a change in federal law
permits such sections to be implemented without any violation of federal
law. Notes that upon implementation of sections 3364, 3365 and 3366,
"medical marihuana" may only be manufactured or sold by a registered
organization.

Did all the Medical Cannabis bills to date have this stipulation? I don't see it in the actual bill, or did I miss it there too?

here is the parts it talks about:

New §3364 creates registered organizations as a pharmacy; a facility
licensed under article 28 of this chapter; a not-for-profit corporation
organized for the purpose of acquiring, possessing, manufacturing, sell-
ing, delivering, transporting or distributing marihuana for certified
medical use; the department; a local health department; or a registered
producer, which shall be a person or entity, with appropriate expertise
in agriculture, registered for the purpose of manufacturing and selling,
delivering or transporting it to another registered organization. Estab-
lishes that it is lawful for a registered organization to acquire,
possess, manufacture, sell, deliver, transport, or distribute marihuana
for the purposes of this title.

New §3365 establishes guidelines for the registering of registered
organizations. Notes that applications shall be valid for a period of
two years. Allows the department to suspend or terminate and registra-
tion on grounds, and using procedures under this article relating to a
license, to the extent consistent with this title.

New §3366 requires registered organizations to report to the commission-
er all sales, deliveries or distributions of medical marihuana to certi-
fied patients or designated caregivers during a particular period.

so does that mean all patients then will have to grow their own Cannabis until the government says its ok? What about people with severe problems that can't?

You will be allowed to choose a caregiver to grow for you as in California. Please God give these men the common sense to do the right thing today.Gov Patterson has said he will support a well written law concerning MMJ-if anyone hears any news regarding this issue please post back here.I will do likewise-BigD

maybe it is only the assembly that is broadcast on tv.. hmm

It says on the gov website that both senate and assembly started being broadcast live in January.. "Senate, Assembly Legislative Sessions To Be Televised Statewide Beginning In January"

but it only mentions that the assembly is not currently in session. it tells a time they reconvene but tells nothing about the senate..

I'm going to keep snooping and if nothing comes up well have to wait for the legislature report for the day

update: I found a "Live Feed" at the NY senate gov website :
http://www.nysenate.gov/media

scroll down for the live feed.. but it is just playing a 25 second lopp of the majority leader talking to you about the website... on demand clips available from last week on there but I will keep this website close right now and see if it loads anything at noon.

not today. I talked to a woman on the phone at the senate building and she said they aren't meeting today. she says it's only on mondays they meet, despite the aptly laid schedule for tuesday. She said it was just a laid schedule and that the Committee on health is not meeting today

:woohoo:It' going to happen :woohoo:Hum Chronic Pain:chin:,o.k. this is going to hurt, but it's going to be worth it:D. Got my fingers crossed for you New Yorkers. ..mitsu

yea MPP usually knows what theyre talking about. part of me feels like this lady on the phone didnt know what she was talking about even though she was so confident in saying that will not meet today. maybe she thinks they dont meet today because it tuesday but maybe it is a mock-monday in the senate (because of memorial day?) and maybe they WILL vote on it despite her dismissing me on the phone so quick.

Maybe ill contact MPP and see if they know more.

Yeah, if mpp is reporting it and its even on the calendar I do believe it would be happening today despite what a secretary may have told you. Let us know what you find out.

I called the SAME number I did last time and was connected with someone who was much more friendly. They said the health committee IS meeting right this moment and it usually takes a couple hours even after they finish to sort of the votes and organize everything. I'll try to get ahold of them later today to ask about that bill. She said if i wanted an update on how that went to give a call later today... so I'll do that :)

So according to this lady they ARE in session and that live video feed is only for the Senate meetings, not committees (She said health committee takes place in small meeting rooms anyway)

Ill leave an update tonight on what the word was
