hey all,

What is the best strain for outdoor grows in ireland?

Guess we would have to plant seeds come april or thereabouts..Just curious to see what potentially might work well! Any thoughts or success stories much appreciated.

Howya,

I did surprisingly well with a strain called early girl last year. Grew them indoors for about three weeks or so and left them out in a field at the start of May. Fed them once or twice but mainly left them to their own devices and managed to harvest some nice buds in October. Only had four of them but plan to go for around ten or so this year -- as long as the weather stays good, it should be fine. I've noticed a huge difference in the amount of sun they get on the east coast as opposed to the rains out west... I reckon the further east you live the better for an outdoor grow.

good luck.

I'm going to try my hand at growing some Lowryders in the garden come summer. Fairly sheltered area but with good sun in summer. The gardens big enough that a few small unassuming shrublike plants will go unnoticed, so all's on the up and up.

I left a couple of Aurura Indica plants out the back last year they florished while i was away for the month of september. I came back it some lovely frosty buds. Stronger than the indoor clones of the same plant but slightly less yeild as they had to be cut early. Good hardy plant I would recommend also

I tried Durban from Sensi Seeds, grew well nice buds good mould resistance. But bought Durban form Sensi twice following my first Durban grow and none of the seeds germinated, which pissed me off 55 per pack. Also tried Early Girl from Nirvana but not a great taste from it. Would like to try Durban Poison from nirvan but not sure how smelly they maybe, suppose to be knock out stone. Any one try 'em post results here please, would like to know about smell and finished weight :)

i have some ak47 that i cracked inside in january and have had em outside since late april. they are in large pots though cause it has been really windy out here this spring and early summer and i've had to bring em inside a few times to stop them getting the shit beaten out of them. they are loving the real sunlight. fantastic growth. ak seems to grow fairly well outside here as this is not my first time with them outside.

I don't have much to add to this thread only a funny story I heard from my oul pair. They had relations from the States over back in the 70s, and one of them threw a load of seeds in our glasshouse. My folks didn't know what the guy was planting, anyway weeks later, after the relations were gone the mighty weed was growing like a bitch in the glass house. Don't know what strain or anything, but just goes to show, when MJ wants to grow, She will!

hello guys. in my opinion, good strain may be shaman from dutch passion. it is very resistance to mould, which is favourable characteristic, because in Ireland is wet climate. shaman is ready to harvest at firsts days of October. this smoke is relaxing and quite strong :D some pictures of shaman growed in Poland :rasta: i hope that i help you.

Well the rule usually states that if your latitude is 45 degrees or over you cant grow the weed outside (with any nugs worth talking about) , Ireland sits at 55 degrees , also Sun is something the Irish pray for every summer , but rarely ever shines its rays for long on the land of green. Irelands average temp is 60 degrees farenheit in june and july which is a dissapointing 15 degrees celsius ( spain average temp in winter) depressing I know especially when its nearly bright for 20 hours of the day..The main problem is in nightime tho , when temps drop below 10 degrees celsius Cannabiss stops growing , it just cant cope with the cold and in Ireland nightime has a summer temp average of 4 - 5 degrees celsius. Another thing is the outdoor grower has to wait till late september/early october for 12/12 and that sucks too when the days are alot colder now and frost shows its ugly head making a success virtually impossible. This plant was never meant for outdoors in irelands (same for uk) cold climate , it just wont deliver good results for your work and simply isnt worth the effort of hogging water and nutrients and your love. If you were in spain youd have a average of 25 degrees celsius for 3 months june , july and august and a lovely 12 hours of daylight then for septemper/october with a slight drop in temp leaving you with plants that would yield massive amounts (250grams dry per plant maybe) The elements are against the outdoor grower but dont let me stop you..Personally just invest in a 600hps and a SquareMetre, couple of pots , some soil and you will have a better reward.

I tend to agree with you resin, my outdoor grows over here have been a catalogue of disasters all as a result of the weather.

I was running a few hollands hope until a storm pulverised my poly tunnel, needless to say i had to move em indoors but either way they were never going to yield well outside.

New glass greenhouse is coming next week probably going to try some sort of auto flowering strain to avoid the brutal weather around normal flowering time.
Stay safe n happy everyone.

yeah have to agree with the last post. Its not worth the heart break of growing in Irish weather. Its possible in theory but not in practice .We just too much rain. There might be only one summer per decade where we get uniterupted sunshine and thats if we are lucky.By all means give it a go but dont expect much and you wont be disappointed!

Welcome moff hope you enjoy the stay:joint::joint:....

This is why i'm giving up growing outdoors in our grey rainy little island (see pics) 2 hollands hopes started under lights and moved outside.
2 months old tho you would'nt think it to look at them, the weather or temps and direct sunlight to be precise just is not good enough.

Weather forecast was predicting ground frost at night a few days ago in june!!!

Going to give it one last go with autoflowering strains but i doubt it will be worth the effort of even planting the seeds to be honest.
They go into the propegator tomorrow pics when they finish but i doubt i will get more than an 8th per plant.
