What's new

Deep Congo

Hey there LG,

I'm very impressed with the DeepCongo, and I'm hoping soon, when I get things 'cooking' again, it'll be the first I run. Absolutely gorgeous plant.

Disc golf, eh? It's been years.... but was a lot of fun. Anything related to a frisbee is a great time. When you're done, flip it over and viola, you have a tray. :D

I will say it again ,I love this herb. So easy to grow and it yields great tasting potent bud.I didn't cut them this morning, gonna wait till this weekend.

Welcome back, RW.

Here's my Deep Congo at 60 days. This one is a very DC-leaning phenotype, the bud structure ran very little and stayed rather symmetrical.

The smell and taste are unlike anything I've had before. The aroma of the plant itself is like a bucket of dirty mop water, but upon trimming the terpenes just go flying all over the lpalate and it smells like a plate of potatoes O'Brien in a room full of myrrh smoke - the potato, onion and bell pepper notes are uncanny. Not a hint of sweetness to be found.

I can't wait to crack the other 4 seeds I've got and find a male. I'll bet these F2's will harbor some really special individuals.

My scissors smell like breakfast!

My scissors smell like breakfast!

Thanks SPM. Don't remember exactly how long, but I vegged it to the 7th or 8th node, then cloned the top and started a mother plant. Probably 4 weeks. Medium-low stretcher. Not a huge yielder, but the quality is superb. Extremely resinous, with an almost greasy feel to it.

I got a few isolated male flowers on the tip of one branch at day 56, and I took that branch down first (the manicured bud shot). But just a few, and just on one branch. I think I might have a minor light leak.

I think I need to pick up another pack of these. I dig that RW used 5 males in the cross, there should be a lot of diversity in these seeds.

Damn, I just can't get over this potato smell! My scissors smell like breakfast!

You've convinced me to order a couple of packs just to have so I've got fresh seeds when I can get my grow on again :D With luck that won't be too much longer! I'd love for my 'return' to growing be with Deep Congo. Yeaaahhhhh :D

Beautiful plant PLHS. The smells are crazy with these plants. If you keep looking through the Deep Congo you might find a big yielder,I did this time. The bud I posted last came from the DC with big yield. As soon as possible I plan to run a bunch of the F2's.

Alright, some DCon F2's! I can't wait to see what pops up, it will be a while before I have the space to grow out the rest of my Deep Congo seeds and make F2's.

Thanks CTSV. I know your all about variety but you might want to run a few extra D-Cong cuts. Your going to love this herb.

I wish I had my camera, I left it at a friends house. I just finished my first clone run of the Deep Congo... a single female in a 1.5 gallon pot of coco, hand watered with straight Lucas, 1 week of molasses, 8 days flush.. Anyone remember my comments about it being "not much of a yielder"? Um... words eaten. Oh my gosh! I'll take some pics of the manicured buds when I get my camera back. But yeah, she really packed the weight on this time. And I ended up with a gallon size bag full of top-grade trim in the freezer.

This grow completely convinced me of the merit of supercropping as a way to increase yield, not just to control height. The Deep Congo seems to love being supercropped, as opposed to the Satori that grew next to it which somehow seemed to grow even straighter after I crimped it. The Deep Congo stays right where you bend it, and grows enormous nodules at the crimps. The buds on the branches that got crimped were noticeably bigger than the ones that did not - and when I say "noticeably", I mean like nearly double the size, with substantially denser, fuller colas. The buds got so big they nearly broke the branches, and needed to be staked and tied. I totally wasn't expecting the sheer mass of bud I pulled off this one plant.

Also, this clone was finished to my tastes in 53 days as opposed to 60 for the seed plant. Only 8 days of flush and she purpled then ate nearly every fan leaf. I'm chewing on a green stem right now, and it tastes clean and fresh. Probably 75-80% cloudy trichs. I prefer a clear head to my smoke, so I don't go for scads of amber trichs, unless I'm growing an Indica for sleepytime stash. This is a very DC-leaning phenotype, but it has a really clear psychoactivity.

The next generation of clones are vegging right now, can't wait to see how they do with an automatic drain-to-waste system. Maybe I'll get my shit together and have the vertical grow set up in time.

Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy. Specific combining ability - these lines nicked. No hype, almost unheard of, they still sit there at the Boo - 60 bucks a pack from R.W. Seeds. Really nice job on this one Chard, really nice. I hope you are well Mr. Williams, and lets get after those F2's Lean and Ponde

PondeLftHndSide- Glad you got some yield out of her. Taking the time to train this strain is the way to go in my experience also. It's like that little bit of veg time pays off five fold. How does your cut veg? Is it fast?
53 days is a very short time to wait for smoke of this caliber with yield to boot. Deep Congo is the total package.:woohoo:
bigbrokush- Like a million bucks. I haven't seen the sun in five days but the minute I sat this joint down this morning, my day was instantly brightened. The taste is sagey and musky. Absolutely phenominal. I love burning this and doing those mundane tasks that you can never get yourself to do. I ran this one a little long so it gives a slightly zombifying sativa effect.

Colina- Indeed RW hit the ball out of the park with this one. I doubt that a pack of the kush of the week stands a chance against a pack of Deep Congo for producing winners.
I have a small number of the D-Congo F2's flowering now.Four fems and two boys. They have some differences that should become even more apparent in the coming week or two since I just flipped them a few days ago.
