Hello burn1 and friends. I have a guano tea recipe question.
I've been using bat guano's rated at 8-3-1 and Seabird guano rated at 12-8-2 for veg. As according to the guano tea recipes listed.
It seems slowly there is a nitrogen build up, and a phosphorus deficiency. I just wanted to know if I should be using different ratio's.
The picture below is an older one of my mum, but this kind of thing starts to re-occur with my clones also. It has slowed down now that I include 1/4 tsp of Epsom salts to 2 cups of water when I feed. At one point, the deficiency had almost devoured the plant. So i foliage fed the mum with a bat guano rated at .05-12-.02 and she cleared right up. Your words are greatly appreciated. thanks man.

What is your soil mix? Are you using kelp or seaweed? Looks like a potassium deficiency to me.

that have the patience for us noobs. The bricks of peat moss are stored outside, and very wet. will this be a problem? pests? should i look harder and find dry bails that have been stored inside?
Good call on the lime. Still looking for it, they keep trying to sell me on the granular stuff swearing its all the same... but the search continues. might have to actually wander into the hydro store for this one
im totally clueless to all this organic stuff, but im trying! would there be any benefit or risk to using chicken fert instead of EWC? its way, way cheaper...
and lastly... when you brew the teas. how funky do they smell? my mixing lab is the bathroom in my bedroom, so i have to live with the smell. if its truly nasty, could i put the bubble bucket in my grow room? does it need to be light tight when brewing?
sorry so many questions. this just seems like such an awesome way to go... tired of all these chemicals, pollutants and 20 a cubic foot for FFOF.

I'm using Lc's mix #1. With coco coir.
Although I did have to make a substitution of calcium carbonate for Pulverized dolomite. I could not locate any around my area, so i also include Epsom salts with every feeding. I've been flamed for doing this before on this forum...
I'm using liquid seaweed from maxi crop. For the sake of recipe's in small batches, I'll include my exact process for my mum plant I use for Veg. I use store bought r/o water pH of neutral.
Start out with 1/4 tsp. Molasses in 2 cups of water then add:
1/4 tsp EWC
1/4 tsp 8-3-1 bat guano
1/4 tsp 12-8-2 seabird guano
3/4 tsp liquid maxi crop
1/4 tsp Liquid K
Bubble for 12-14 hours, or until I can't smell molasses anymore. It gets kinda stinky by hour twelve. Only weird thing I've experienced with these teas are the round worms I get from one of the guano's. Next time I not going to use down to earth brand. Thanks again

Just buy the lime pellets. They are easily broken down, the humidity in the air and handling the bag has caused my pellets to almost completely brake down. thats what i was thinking, just get a bag of garden lime and beat the crap out of it until i had dust
wasnt sure if the granules and powdered was the exact same stuff or not.just found pro-mix locally....
so my question is this.of the 2 soilless mixes listed on page one, is either one preferable to the other. or are they really about the same? the only difference i can see is mycorise, how big of a difference will this make? for me LC's mix is much much cheaper to make than the PRO-MIX varriant. but if its totally worth the money to go the promix route, ill do it.

Why on Earth are you using 2 cups of liquid to water your plants with? Are you growing one plant? It looks to me like you're using WAY TOO MUCH guano and supplements.
And if you could use calcium carbonate in the recipe instead of powdered dolomite lime, I would have posted that.
This is yet another example of someone not following the directions I posted then coming back in here and asking "What's wrong with my grow".
Go back and read again. Follow the recipe exactly. Even if you have to throw some guano tea out and waste it, it's better than ruining your grow as it looks like you're doing.

Been searching like a madman, the only powdered lime i have found is called Hi-Yield Hydrated Lime. is this the right stuff? {i think it is, but it seems to contain more than just lime, and nowhere on it does it say dolomite.}

Since worm castings are pricey, and mushroom compost has very little fert in it, could i substitute with a bag of FFOF, or would that be completely dumb? it would give me more mix, some worm castings, some guanos and all those tasty little micros....
and lastly, the neptune harvest stuff is pretty pricey. same price or even a few dollars more than lets say a fox farms nute schedule.
tea's vs nutes. is the tea superior, or is it just the more eco friendly option since its truly organic?
sorry so many ?? trying to learn whats best and why, not just take things at face value. if i can understand whats going on, i think it greatly increases my odds of growing nice nugs.

Neptune's Harvest is very good and lasts a long time. Very little $$$ per dose.
Worm castings and mushroom compost are not used for nutes. They are humates and microbes. Mushroom compost is fine.

i have no problem following directions, but i ask alotta questions!
well that makes sense about the humis and what not. this is gettin cheaper by the second!!
so far the best deals ive found are from lowes. lowes is also the only place i found powdered dolomite lime. sure enough just like everyone said its by the grass seed, way back on the racks in the garden section. i must have overlooked it 15 times, and home depot {around here} for sure no longer carries it.
premier peat moss 9.97/3.8 cubic feet
pulverized dolomite lime 2.99/40lbs
mushroom compost 3.99/1 cubic foot
i think thats pretty much everything i need. the small bottles of neptunes harvest are pretty affordable {9.99} so ill recheck that dosage and see how long they will last me.
on a side note, any idea where to get square pots? i have a bunch of these white "euro" pots. they are about 10x10x10 hold maybe 4 gallons of soil and are made in italy. they fit my setup perfectly!! but i moved and cant find them anymore.... any ideas?

yeah i know its compressed, im figuring one bale of peat with all the perlite and what not should give me just about enough to fill 12 4 gallon pots. thats way way cheaper than the 4 bags of FFOF it would normally take.

I'm using exact proportions to your recipe as far as the tea goes, I'm only feeding two plants. I don't need 5 gallons! What is the lowest amount of water/guano ratio I can use? From what I can see in your recipe, its basically 1 Tbsp. of each guano per gallon of water.
As far as the soil goes, i'm working on trying to find some dolomite out here.
p.s
1 gallon = 16 cups
1 tbsp = 15 ml
divide both by 8 to get 2 cups water for every 1/4 tsp. of each guano. Not to contest with brilliance, but perhaps to better understand what I'm doing wrong with the tea. Sorry about blatant questions man

fresh - check out lowes, its the only place i could find that had powdered dolomite lime. out in the garden section, back under the "awning" where all the grass seed and what not is at. 40lbs bags are 3 bucks.
1 Tbsp of each for 1 gallon is correct for Veg formula, which you are supposed to use every third watering. I think it should be 3/8tsp (.375), not 1/4tsp (.25) for two cups of water though. So a little over 1/4tsp.
I have never heard of anything wrong with using smaller amounts. It should still brew fine.

Don't ask for help finding powdered dolomite lime. Most people at Lowes and Home DePOT don't even know they have it. Look for yourself.
