the temps were hot as fuck... I couldnt really do anything about that though.. theres not even air conditioning in the dorms.

For nutes i was using Miracle grow bloom boost during flowering. But thats about it.

Considering the circumstances.... I'd say 3.5g wet was awesome! :D

geesh, you grow cannabis in the most unfavorable circumstances there can possibly be, and wonder why the yield is low...

To get any kind of decent yield you will need:
- constant environment which includes constant temperature and air exchange
- intense light with the correct spectrum. At least 50 - 100 actuall watt (not incandescent equivalent watts) per square foot.
- good soil and enough room
- a well thought out nutrient strategy and grow timeline

if you have to compromise any of these factors you are REALLY hurting your yield and plant health, as well as potency. These are the basic things you need to get anything worthwile.

yo bro...did you have any circulation? if soo how many cfm? and if you could post some pics of the cab and setup and you could definately get some suggestions from some experienced greeenthumbs that lurk these threads:joint:

Fuck Miracle-Gro. It's radioactive, for starters, and makes for harsh smoke. Some people say it's just fine, but they're often the same people who are just too goddamned cheap or lazy to buy real plant food.

I'm not claiming that it's good, I'm just saying that it had nothing to do with him yielding virtually nothing.

He should be happy that he didn't waste his money on any expensive nutes, because he still would have ended up with nothing.

dude ya know what? good for you! congrats on your first grow!
My first grow was very similar.... looked about the same, yielded about the same, and i hope you learned as much as i did from my first grow.
The smoke was a little harsh for me, but it got me high which was good enough!
Your next grow will be easier and better.
And the one after that even easier and even better...
And I presume they keep getting easier and better, but I havn't gotten there yet! It is a fun and addicting hobby though!

Good on you for making it all the way dude. I would think heat and air cirulation were the biggest factors in low yield here. Good luck for next time.

total yield wet = 3.5g? Ack, that's like a gram dry. I think you spent more on energy costs than if you had just bought yourself something to burn 3 months ago.

he prolly doesnt pay for his energy monthly since he is in a dorm. if its like mine and all my friends then u just pay a large, overpriced sum upfront :p

True that. I didn't mean to imply that you can't grow at all with that stuff... just that it's on the bottom of the list. The week absence was probably the culprit. Live & learn.

I'm interested in hearing about your test grow that puts MG bottom of the list.
Go read the grows where people do a full run, pics and all, on miracle grow. Miracle grow negative sensationalism really gets old. miracle grow, schultz, vigoro, fox farms, biobizz, whoever if you use the same strain and provide proper nutrient ratio and all other factors are in place you aren't going to see any one of those nutes stand out horribly as a piece of shit useless toxin that people make it to be when they have no clue. I don't mean to sound too harsh its just very important to dispell any rumors/myths about the products available especially for those who can't afford budswell foxfarms earth juice bio bizz etc.. They are all EXCELLENT. just more expensive. MG is plenty when you have only a few bucks to spare.

Rockinnick-
Like most have said here, you have to have your environment consistent and at the right levels. That strain being mids and what it looks like its probly hardcore sativa mutt, carrying a looooong as flowering period 14 wks no joke. so you could pile that ontop of the other issues, and who knows unless that light was on timer and everything light proof and date marked on calendar you may not had the exact consistent flowering period you thought you did.

congrats your ready for the next time around! keep studying and get your environmental factors straightened out. I got no bud on my first grow - dead seedlings :) makes the next more rewarding
good luck

Thanks for all the positive support. And yes, the strain was some kind of sativa monster. Ive smoked some of the measly bud that I have, and it was pretty good. A really weird high and taste came from it. It was a creepy high, like all of the sudden i would notice i was really blazed and the forget about it the next second. Weird.

Anywayz, the power was free and at least i have some light bulbs for my mothers next year. I just wanted to actually see a growing plant and try some of the things ive learned on here. Honestly, i should have used a Screen for SCROG or something to get more of a yield. But it was hard to control the temp's, ph, and everything else when my building doesnt even have AC and my setup was in a cabinet about 6 feet off the ground. It was an arcobatic feat to climb on top of my bed to get it.

It was a great experience though and I have been reading up on using hydroponics and buying an HPS kit for next year. I recently purchased 5 feminized Trainwreck seeds from Greenhouse along with a some freebie seeds which are 1 femmed White Widow and 5 Super Thai Skunk seeds from G13 labs. Hopefully some of those will be good yielders and produce some potent bud!!!!!

And yes, I didnt use my Miracle Grow consistently or correctly. I struggled with nute burn for awhile and then just decided to use really weak solutions of nute to not have to deal with the burn. But anyway, I tried.... lol

I did have some air... It was a little desk fan that i had blowing on it. I couldnt tell you how many cfm's it was, but i had it running at least throughout the day to cool off the bulbs.
I probably should have had it running 24/7

Was there an intake and an outtake though? The fact that you even finished the grow shows that you have skill. So many people I know have tried to grow and have failed entirely.

I'm sure other people are with me too on this. I'd love to see you pull off a monster yield.

Seen 'em. And many of them say the same thing: "yeah, plant grew OK I guess, but tastes kind of funky." It's also super-easy to burn plants w/ MG at their suggested ratio.

Again: can you grow plants, any plants, with MG? Yes. Should you? That's up to the individual, but if anyone offered me bud grown this way I'd politely decline.

Besides, there are DIY alternatives (organic compost tea) and fert lines that won't break the bank... AND more importantly won't irradiate your lungs over time. Remember that radiation builds up over time and does not go away; smoking something slightly radioactive constantly over long periods of time is the same as exposing yourself to a higher dose of radiation all at once.
