switching from 12/12 to 18/6 after pollination

anyone know if the seeds would still form properly if you seeded a plant and then reverted it back to veg? my guess is it should still work any thoughts?

Why are you doing 12/12 with AFs?

Regardless, the seeds will form better and faster under 24/7.

How do you figure that ?

I give 12/12 strains about 30 days and I give AF's strains about 30 days. Some mature sooner and some mature later depending on strain , light strength.

i posted in the af thread because the pollen used is diesel ryder pollen so it was auto related the light was reverted to 20/4 after pollination to provide better light to the auto's that were with the 12/12 but alas it is a non auto question my sincere apologies for that

I used to produce seeds using preflowers. Worked fine, and they seemed to mature freakishly fast. I'd guess under 2 weeks start to finish, but sometimes it seemed like it happened even faster. I suspect they very well may finish faster under 24/7 lighting.

This is something I've thought about also, since I've got a single seedbearing plant 2 weeks from pollination in a closet that's close to harvest, and I would like to do a little vegging in there when I put in the new plants.

I was just going by my own, admittedly anecdotal, experience growing all kinds of sativa and indica types, as well as some autoflowering strains.

But I also read a lot of journal stuff, use a lot of interlibrary loan, and get online access to a lot of dissertations, too. I've read more than once about breeding cannabis to have a longer seed set if the strains are developed in lower latitudes, and that seed maturity was fastest in higher latitudes. These traits seemed to stick with the plants for years, from what the researchers had said.

So about the light duration... The plants from higher latitudes would have longer days and faster maturing seeds, and those from more equatorial climes would have a longer season, and a longer seed set.

I think it all has a bit to do with how easy it is to get an indica to cross as auto as opposed to some kind of crazy long time africans or those colombian types that people don't seem to get great auto breeding results from. Also, it could be why some people get autos that take 4 weeks to autoflower, but then go on fine. Speed of seed maturity could definitely have implications in breeding, if you keep such close track of seeds.
