How to Garden By The Moon

I use the painters tape, the blue masking tape type, and write on it with a permanent black marker. Then just put it on the cup, pot, or bucket that the cut is in. When I take cuttings I use a plastic 4 quart see through tub and put up to 24 cuts in one with coco medium, on the outside I just use a long peice of that same tape and just put the name and number for each cut on the tape.
Doesn't mean that would work for you, but it is pretty simple I think. Hope that helps.

I transplanted my Sweettooth #3 momma and took about 16 randoms clones yesterday. I hope cloning by the moon works!!! Thanks for the info Lola!

Thanks for the help! How do you like coco? Dirt is so expensive.

So far our systems seem eerily similar! I'm using peat pellets & a tall plastic tote. I wrote on labels and put them on the top. Only problem with this system is, if I drop them or they fall over, then I won't know who is who.

I hate to put tape on a peat pellet, but I can't think of anything other than toothpick tags.

Hey Girl! What's Up? Save me a SweetTooth clone! Yum. Good Luck! I love waiting for those roots to pop through!

Cloning by Moon in this Sign/Phase is my favorite. Roots GO WILD! You will be transplanting them every 10 days because those roots will be poking out the bottoms of your pots!

Here's a good example of transplanting and cloning in bad sign vs. good sign. I made some cuts Valentine's Day. As usual some took longer to root than others, so transplanting was done at different times. Just for fun, I potted up some clones in BARREN signs and some FRUITFUL signs. Same dirt, pots, light, etc.

The Barren transplanted clones are still only 2-3 inches tall.

The Fruitful sign transplanted clones are 3 feet tall.

Once starting a cutting in a Fruitful Sign, Ya'll need to keep transplanting when the signs and phases are favorable. This makes a BIG difference. I'll post a pic later for ya'll to see the differences.

Have fun cloning! Better hurry! Time is running out! Week ahead not much for planting/cloning at all!

Thanks for the help, but I LOVE Moon Gardening! Really gets my plants back to nature. I will still use it when I go Hydro someday! I'm nervous about all that water, it would wreck my place if I had a leak where I'm growing now! I tend to have bad luck, although never have had a big leak with an aquarium or waterbed yet...lol.

You can still use the Moon when growing inside and/or in hydro. It will still help your plants get bigger quicker and have Mo Better Buds!

I am using some Fem Seeds this time to clone from. I have some Fem Greenhouse SSH and some Sweet Seeds Ice Cool Fem Seed. They were gifts. I love to grow out a pack of regular seeds and pick out the best gals to work with! I hope I will find one that suits my needs soon. I have one Ice Cool I'm REALLY interested in. I may go clone it a little more!

I also use Moon Gardening to help me stay organized and on track. When Moon Gardening, I do work I will have to do anyway. I find I get the best results when doing the same work at the most optimal times! It's just another tweak to get the best results!

When I used to use peat pellets I used the toothpick method and made little flags with the same tape. BUT, BUT
When I switched to coco, not only did I get a better rooting % I also got stronger healthier looking roots, and in only 5-7 days vs the 10-14 with the peat pellets. Everyone has there prefered method and I have tried just about all of them it seems, the only one that even compairs to the coco is the areo-mister systems. The main reason I stayed with the coco is because I used coco in my flowering room and figured I would stay with it. I used to be an avid hempy bucket person, I used 24 oz pop bottles and they worked great. Then one day I picked up some coco to try and at first I made a hybrid style hempy with the bottom 2 inches being perlite and the top part being coco. I saw such a difference in that change that I decide to go with straight coco. Now I still run the same 24 oz hempy bottles with a small change, the hole is only 1 inch from the bottom and no perlite is used. I only have to water once a day and not all of them need it but they get it and none of them have ever showed any signs of root rot or slowing down. As far as the difference in the two systems, how about almost double the weight for each stick (SOG lollypops).
I pay $18 a bag for the boitanicare coco coir, I also use their nutes as well. I dont know how that compares to dirt but I know that playing with dirt can be costly. That is what I started with over 10 years ago and it didn't take long to change over to hydro, and I have tried all the hydro style systems as well except NFT and areo, to costly to set up for me right now.

What are we looking a for the next seed starting dates, would this Wed and Thurs be good or are there better dates comming.

edit to add:
did you make any crosses with those widows or any of the others, and if you did or you plan to when might we get to see/get them?

Hey Cotton! Chopped all the male Widows (4). I got plenty of beans so, going sensi this trip. May play with that NL5Haze Pollen I saved. Let's see

Possible crosses
California Orange Bud
White Widow
Ice Cool
Super Silver Haze
WhiteBerry x Power plant
White Rhino

Icey Cool Haze sounds pretty good. Maybe some Whiney Haze. Open to suggestions!

As far as planting goes, fourth quarter is coming soon and I don't plant seeds or clone then, since it is used for killing weeds, etc. The best you can do is hit a semi-fruitful date and hope for the best!

This Ice Cool, Anna Nicole, I'm running is so interesting! She has a really diesel smell. I made some extra cuts from her, she looks a little ragged now, but wanted more of Her! I maimed her pretty good!

Also of interest is one WhiteBerry/ Power Plant. I made some extra cuts of her a few minutes ago too. She has a unique smell, can't quite put my finger on it, I would lean towards a diesel smell, but not quite. She has stems of iron! Very sturdy.

Since I was in a hurry and tired of cloning, made a bunch of cuts of my California Orange from a clone I made 2/14. I fried my 2/24/09 copies of her (my fault) and wanted some more clones of her for the great outdoors! So I got really lazy and put her cuts into a glass of tap water! I'm really counting on the Moon's Powers to root those! We shall see! I guess this will be a Bonsai Mom now she's had her first haircut!

Whew, I'm tired, I've been working on this phase of the Moon since Thursday! I have repotted, and cloned up a storm. Now I've got the munchies....gotta go grub some vittles! Bye Ya'll!

Jus' passing thru, Have you flowered out any of the WBxPP yet... I'm curious as to how that will turn out..I've got some too, from the same source I believe, waiting to be cracked, as well as the DG of Nor Cal...

Keep up the good work sis...

I used to go the paper towel route too...until my last germin' session I found quicker results, not to mention a better germ rate poppin' them right in those oasis cubes...I'll do it that way again in the future... I'm sure RR's, Oasis, or any rooting plug/cube should suffice.....

OH NO! I will put my mojo working on em! ("Pop, grow, my darlings!" sez Lola, as she waves her hands hypnotically...)

What day did you plant em on? Last Friday & Saturday, Moon was Barren in Leo, a dread Fire Sign, weed killing date(s)! Last Sunday Moon was in Barren sign of Virgo, dread weed killing date. This would be April 3, 4, and 5. That may be why 2/9 resulted... :(

Hmmm... something must be wrong...somewhere. But this does prove that it does not pay to plant in Barren Moon Signs. 2/9, man that sucks bad.

Perhaps you looked at the wrong Week Ahead in Moon Gardening Post ? I usually post em on Saturdays or Sundays for the week coming up. Sorry for the confusion, probably my fault. I'll check my old post and see if I put the wrong dates up or something.

Sorry to hear about Hawaiian Haze biting the dust. Keep misting! Don't give up! Maybe these last few days have given the beans the will to live.

Hawaiian Haze sounds good, I tried some Blue hawaiian last week, it came from a local Cannabis Club, and was a horrible representation of the strain...I've heard nuthin' but good words about it, but the stuff in the local clubs is garbage....at least compared to those in sac, and the bay...IMHO

Thanks D4, I have 2 flowering. One is really promising. She has stems of iron and smells really good when you cut her. But they are only in week 2 or 3 of flower, so not much to see yet. What's the Power Plant supposed to smell like? Finally, a use for my coffee table books...haha

Today I cloned a few babies out of her. And then a few more. She looks a little chopped..lol. I'm gonna go White Berry x Power Plant Outdoor Grow. I will save a cut of this gal though for future use indoors too.

I didn't top her though I may go supercrop her a little, she's not showing many hairs yet. I have my lights up pretty high, and nobody seems to be stretching on 12/12. Just good even growth, nice dark greens. Looks great. stay tuned. :D

Lookin good everyone! The moon is right for birthin em! I dropped some goodies a few hours ago, finger's crossed!

OK, you posted this 4/2/9, so Moon was right for germing. Cancer, Water Sign, Fruitful, 2nd quarter. That would have been a Thursday.

Don't know what to tell you...Looks like you did everything OK to me. I still think seeds like to be germed in dirt, sorry it didn't work for you. :bongsmi:

Nah Lola, I deffo was following the thread to plant. We are in the same timezone (I think, lol), and I was forcing my self to keep myself's grubby hands off the seeds till it was time :D Eh, they were untested, so it COULD have been the beans, but usually my homemade seeds pop ok. Hey, no worries. I have plenty of plants going. That tray is 3 different cuts of ssh, and some pakalolo (haw.sat x sk). ~1/2 of them are for the outdoors. When they root, I'll fill the tray (in the right moon phase :D) with Shit cuts for outside.

Yo d4, what is the makeup of blue hawaiian? Haw x blueberry? Hawaiian strains don't get any pub, but these $16 Pakalolo's (sativa seed bank via seedbay) are fire smoke, and the MrN spice gave me 2 females, 1 deffo could have been passed as 'elite' :D [barletta digs out the Don Ho RECORD and fires up a tiki torch...of pakalolo]

Just got through putting my water jar full of clones into some rockwool cubes. I've had some for a while, just never used em. They are super easy to use and I think I like them better than the peat pellets for ease of use. Also, I can write on the plastic, which I like. I hope the clones will realize they were started yesterday in a fruitful moon, and not today!

I was such a lazy cloner yesterday that I left one whole tray of peat puck clones without a dome. They were a little tall for the dome I had to use, so I left it off. Surprise, they didn't mind at all. All my clones looking frisky and perky today. Yippie!

Hope all my lazy cloning methods don't end up in failure! I've got great faith in the Moon's Powers on these clones, so I expect to see roots day after tomorrow! So it is written, thus it shall be...lol.

Later Ya'll.
