Isn't cannabis still decriminalised in the several OZ states?

In which case why did the fascists ban the site?

Isn't this against Freedom of speech, Freedom of thought and Intellectual freedom?

I know this has been going on for "awhile" now, but I didn't comment before. Seems harsh as hell, I thought Australia would be nicer about things. They do have an extensive drug law, yet it's worded so strangely.

What is the point of this law, what was the point of the legislation? To keep info from kids or from everyone? Anyone can use a proxy, you would need an encryption just to have a secure reading session. With a Gov like this, if they are blocking sites what is to stop them from intercepting your data coming in and going out?

Crazy, sorry Aussies.

From what Ive read this was all going down because of the howard government, theyy were like the bush government, iinet pulled out ages ago in a demonstration of how futile the technology was.
None of the major ISP's would participate as they shook their heads at the caveman like arrogance against a nuclear attack.
This news is old, the list was discovered nearly 12 months ago has been altered umpteen times since.
Its absurd and only exists to appease Soccer Mum types and their Ilk.

Also from memory of local news reports it was completely on a voluntary basis according to ISP's, I could be wrong though , but that was the 'air' of the report as well as the trash media even treating the legislation as rot

ffs.......

why are yall so pissy about this?

if they cant learn from china, that the only thing they can effectively block is that which the ppl don't wanna look at. Whether it be porn, or a site that has movies, or a site centered around a 10,000 year old method of living, untill the demand is gone, the supply will NOT fail.

apparently i cant edit my posts, yet?

anyway what i was trying to say is that they can try, but by the very nature of the internet and what it is they WILL fail. This is a good thing b/c it will hopefully convince other govt's not to try to censor teh net for a while longer...... [too much.....]

Yes it is, and that is the point. We are not free.

Thinking and freedom are for free people. The last thing the NWO wants is to have the sheep begin to think. After all, the easiest ones to control are the ones who believe that they are free when they are not. Just keep downing those rx pills and bottles of alcohol. Don't smoke plants that enable creativity and critical thinking. Stay in your complacent slumber until it is too late. One by one, rights will be sucked away while you are busy watching TV. It's all just part of the plan.

And for those Americans who think they live in the "Land of the Free"- if you can't walk down the street naked, without being tossed in a jail cell in a matter of minutes, then you are not free.

The list was leaked on wikileak's today, cant access it myself, anyone got a link? just wanna see if this site is on it ect

cant be posted on Aus site's, or an 11k fine/day...
I just went and had a look at the banned list at wikileaks. There are no pot sites on the list that I can see. That means that this site wasn't banned at all.
Anyone got any other explanation why we weren't able to get on here for a month?

The list on wikileaks certainly was accurate at some point.... but you are NOT ALLOWED to even know whats on that list. So WHO KNOWS?
Im rarely paranoid, but wow, this is so unlike any Aussie folkore, its hard tto belive you guys arent dumping tons of sheep manure on the steps of some governement building just to make a point.
I guess we all are sheep now. Europe isnt much better.

My isp just announced via email it's intentions to filter the net -

Dear Mr XXX XXXXXXX
Later today Exetel will commence a short (5 day) trial of what is claimed to be a non-intrusive internet site filtering system. By 'non-intrusive' is meant something that a user will not notice in terms of any browsing or file downloading speed differences.

The reason that Exetel is doing this trial is that our belief to date is that any future mandatory internet site 'filtering' will impose significant costs on Exetel and significant slow downs on our customers. Since the current Labor Federal Government announced its intentions to impose some form of internet censorship we have looked at various ways that we could implement it (should it ever become necessary) at the lowest possible cost and with the lowest possible speed degradation. To date, our view has been that no such solution exists.

We are trialing the one possible solution that, while certainly costing an ISP a significant amount of money, claims to have almost zero/actually zero affect on a user's speeds of service. Having discussed with the vendor why this would be possible we can see it could be feasible. We will, later today, turn on this 'filter' and will make our own observations on how much, if at all, speeds are affected for our whole user base. Our confident expectation is that no Exetel customer will notice, or be subject to, any speed degradation and we also doubt that any Exetel customer will experience a 'blocked site'.

Our sole purpose in running this trial is to put ourselves in a position to deal with any future imposed content filtering system imposed by the Australian Labor party by conforming to any legal requirement without imposing seed degradation on our customers.

While we are confident that 99.999% of our customers will neither notice a speed difference once the trial starts nor will have any pages blocked please log a fault in the normal way if you do encounter any difficulty or report blocked pages here:
