we got females

that only took 16 days of 12/12, but finally.
There is just one thing that concerns me. ALL my plants are showing little pistils. Every branch is producing female flowers it seems. There is just the odd ball popping out on some plants. I pinched these off and now i'll see. I stopped foilar feeding them with Seaweed / powergrow / thrive alive (very weak solution though). I sprayed them once a day before the lights come on. I suppose they like that for growing, but it seems to retard flower production. Oh well. Now i give em water and teas straight to the soil only.

Let's hope for the best!

i am thoroughly irritated! All my plants are female. I don't know if that is a disaster waiting to happen, or if i should do a little happy dance right now.
This morning i noticed an unusual stank in there, and i mean... smelly! Not unlike a real afgahni, these plants are so much indica it's unbelievable.

UPDATE! Flowers are here.
I have ZERO males, there are lots of hairs emerging from each lovley top. I still don't feel to good about this, i'd prefer to have 1/3rd of all plants to be male so i can yank them. I feel like i am sitting on a time bomb let's wait till harvest, shall we?

They are in day 4ish of flower and on day 19 of 12/12

Looking good, don't they? They stopped showing more balls, i removed maybe 4 or 5 balls on all plants together, and untill now they haven't continued to grow them.

I also start to notice two distinct phenotypes, at least when it comes to their smell. One phenotype reeks like heaven, it smells like skunk with a hint of rose or jasmin, the second phenotype has very little smell to it, you really need to stick your nose in there, but then it's a pepper smell that stings in your nose. Nice plants for sure!

There ya go. Why are you asking? This sea soil is rather good stuff. As of now i did not need any veg fertilizer ( i am vegging my moms in it ), all i do is foilar spray sea weed.

i live in BC Canada, it is locally produced as far as i know. If you live near the shore you should have no problem finding it at places like "Garden Works" "Rona" "Home Depot" and "Home & Hardware" "Canadian Tire" and "The Real Canadian Superstore" all sell that stuff.

A bag goes for 6.49$ and contains 32L, i don't know if you can get it outside canada!

I re-designed and rearanged my veg-shelf today. I moved it from the bottom on the floor up by one shelf, that way i can do my gardening without crawling around on the floor and bumping my head numerous times. Plus, it looks a lot neater that way.

Down in the bottom is where i brew my teas from now on. Hell yeah, i like this a lot. It was quite some work to pull everything our, and today wasn't the best day pain wise either, but hey... the plants need me, i can't just let them go on their own. Now, after the work is done, i'm in for a nice toke Sun is shining, i might just crack a beer or two

what i've been doing lately is just mixing some miracle grow organic (pick out the larger chips) and mix in some earthworm castings (1 cup to every 3 cups miracle grow) and 1/2 cup of perlite, mix it up and the plants seem to like it. Hey Rave, do you plan on making some seeds with this batch if you have any males?? And How tall were they when you started on 12/12?? The ones I got going I popped on 3/19 and I've been vegging them on 18/6 since, my two biggest are about 6-7 inches tall.

well, there was no real "moment" when they started to flower.
I'd say the first day that fertilization can occur should be the first day of flower. And i did not see any pistils until a week or so ago, so there you go.

One week of Flower

And here is the cola of one of the two untopped plants. They already started to put out trichomes

and here is the whole box, from further back. The little plants i found outside are flowering now too. Looks like they are going to grow into one single budstick. I think when they are ready for harvest i am not going to pick them. I am going to give them away to some people, like, a live, mature, ready to harvest plant as a little gift i like that idea

i am actually supprised that they flower in those tiny ass pots. If i can get, say... 3.5g from one plant, i could pull a half ounce off 4 little plants that only need one lamp... man i am sure thinking now...

Rave, how are you my brother?

I was watching that screen you had so low so early and I was wondering how that was going to work for you. I had thought at the very least you needed to mount it higher. You will learn something new with every grow and when you show everyone will put their two cents in. That is how we learn. My bet is that a scrog would be best with all clones of the same age and with a known height and spaced correctly so that you can spread them out. I have seen damn nice scrogs that looked like they were only one plant too. I have learned a lot watching you hammer this out.

About the too many female bit, you can yank them the same as you would a male. The difference here is you have choices of that you yank. Yank out the ones that a not the best and yank out the ones that are just in your way. With males in there you would not have choices like that.

So for the next grow you need to have the correct amount of clones that are the same age and you will be fine. Probably best if all of the clones came from the same mother. Move the screen up another foot so you can have some room to work.

I know i messed up on the screen because i was too eager to flower them and see how it goes. They did not get any veg time at all really, i should have vegged them at least 4 - 5 weeks before flipping the switch, and i should have used aprox. three plants in MUCH bigger pots. But hey, if i ever want to scrogg again i know what to do next


I am probably going to put some outside. It's REALLY crowded in there as you can see, and the plant that is in the middle of the square hardly receives light at all. So i might just plant her in the garden and hope she pulls through.

My moms are growing along nicely, but the clones i stuck in my bubble cloner one week ago did not show any roots at all. I yet have to successfully clone.

no, i mean seriously... In my whole cannabis-grower-career, all the seeds i ever popped were females. I popped around 16 seeds over all, and they were not feminized and all turned out female. I am not kidding. I am affraid when that luck turns around though, lol. Better get some good moms!
