Electricity Usage and "Cops"

BONUS BAG

i think its snitching first then the cops go to the elec comp and get proof of usage to help the case.then when the cops see the judge for the warrant they ad the usage to the warrant and probably guns drug etc..
now if you got 10+ 1k lamps going it just might start with the elec comp first,we got to remember a cop will say anything to make there actions legal.

Look....a 4kW grow eats up a LOT more than 4kW.
Environmental controls eat up massive power,as well.
Let's look,shall we?
Veg = 600w-1000w/hr. @ 24 hrs. on/day
Flower = 4x 1000w HPS,plus ballasts = 4.4 kW/hr x 12 hrs./day
A/C (or heat) usually equals a minimum of 1.5 kW/hr. x 24 hrs./day
Dehumidifier (if needed) = 1.2 kW/hr. x 24 hrs./day
Fans = 150w each, X the number of fans, x 24 hrs./day
Also,movers,filters,pumps and other esoterica.
A 4kW grow AIN'T a 4kW grow,you see....It's more like an 7-8kW grow,when you crunch the numbers....

It all comes down to where you live.
I have a 6,000 watt flower room along with about 1,000 watt in veg/clone/mothers.
+ all the other accessories.
All in the garage of a 3 bedroom house with my family of 4 using our own chunk of power.
People around here go much bigger than me.
I have gone way bigger in the past as well.
Power company doesn't care as long as you pay.

I bought my ticket and I'm taking my ride.

I meant a meter, i've never heard anything about the power being turned off if they are overloaded, but then again i don't live in or near a big city either. that would suck man.

the house i moved outta last yr has 15 yr old a/c unit we had a power bill of 700$ for 1 month thats with only 400w hps flower and 240w cfls veggn. house thermo set @ 77 outside temps 115+.

Wow, 700?

One 400HPS, 240 watts in CFLs, what else you got running around the house? Or is it mainly due to the AC cause it so fucking hot?

Our bill now is around 200 because the fools I live with always leave there incandescent lights on, among other shit. I told them to switch to CFL and they said it was a pain in the ass and to expensive. I said nothing back.

I just dont understand 700 dollars a month. I want a 250HPS with 6 CFLs to veg with. Is the bill gonna go up to 500? I sure fucking hope not! Time to do some math. FUCK!

Use this to calculate your increase in cost. Don't forget the factor in things like fans and pumps. Shouldn't increase by much with what you are running. I started running a 400w setup, and I cut back here and there on other things like t.v., xbox, etc and I haven't seen a noticeable increase in my electricity cost.

But seriously, if you pay your bills on time and try not to use more than 1KW
per bedroom you shouldn't see the fuzz. For those people that entertain the
possiblity of stealing power just know that they (Power People) will eventually
see that they're losing too much power than normal and will come
investigating. I will take only a few days at the most to pin point
the leak. LOL

Believe me they will plug it up and your life as well.

It's better not to get too greedy as you know greed
does everybody in sooner or later.

Just look at this clown, he got a little greedy don't
you think. LOL

so 2 600 w hps and 2 6 inch vortech inlines on 12/12 and 2 250w mh for veg with 6 inch s&p 24/0 in a 3 bedroom should be fine?

here is an example of how the power company doesn't pay attention. My grandma accidentally sent a check to the power company which was meant to be the quarterly dues for her property in AZ. The check was for 4,500 dollars and they just cashed that shit without questioning it and gave her account a huge energy credit.

As Rez said its just some guy entering numbers not "thinking" about quantity and what not

it DEFINITELY depends on where you live... the 5-0 & power companies definitely track power usage... they are one of the reasons I left Florida...

if you are growing in a state that isn't CA or CO etc. your best bet is off the grid power. generators. fuel cells are too nascent a tech to be cost effective... trust me have a cousin at MIT in a fuel cell research team

power company is our enemy

If you are running enough electricity to be worried, you can afford a home back-up generator.

Yeah, your looking at 7-8k for a good diesel one around 15kw, but it will add value to your house and you can run it at night on a timer to offset you power usage to look normal.

In some places, power from a good diesel generator using off road diesel (non-taxed) will cost you less per kwh than the electric company.

Going to have to agree with Rez. Though if you're really worried about power consumption go fluorescent or led and eliminate dehumidifiers and air conditioners.

i never used to believe it but now do. there was a family that got raided a while ago. they had high power consumption. cops raided the family home and found out they do lots of laundry or some such stuff. this was in cali

Hell yeah, I'm going vertical soon to maximize my 4k flower room.

If you need to run 10+ lights, you should have more than one location.

Here's the problem I have with reading some story about growers popped for power usage, with the bust ORIGINATING with that info. It serves cops interests to lie. The reporter is some local douche who prints what the cops tell him. It serves the power company's interests to play both sides by saying what the cops want them to say to the press, but leaving it at that since a dollar's a dollar after all and growers are their best customers.

If I'm a cop interested in making growing seem riskier than it is, I definitely pin as many busts as I can as originating with the power company, since power consumption is easily the least controllable factor in grow security.

How the power company or anyone knows I'm running an op and not a kiln is something that needs to be explained.
