TheTRUTH is i have grow with HID, and now AT FIRST due to curcumstances, i switched to cfl's.
I am NOW happy to pull 3-4 oz every 8 weeks from my 168 watt CFL mini V-scrog...
and THATS the truth.......PPPHHHTTTTTTT!!!!!!:laughing::joint: pax

That may be your experience Thundeezy but not mine , so i guess it would be all of these different truths and experiences coming together for people to read and figure out what they want to do , you guys are way hung up on cfls . Youve got your blinders on to anyother form of light. I think the best micro system utilizes both blue and red specftrum . CFL :dueling: HPS

I will probably get a bunch of shiet for this but i thought of something that maybe we could agree on .

IF i had a 70 hps growing 4 1 foot plants and i added 70 watts of cfl i would be increasing my yield and resin production by adding the cfls. True or false

I think you get my simple point . But i suppose the real debate is would 140 watts of hps yield more and produce more resins than 140 watts of cfl .

In my personal opinion and experience both types of light are needed to get the most yield and quality in a micro situation .

I got caught up in the bickering on this thread and said some stupid shiet as have others . I am sorry and will try to only type what i know to be true and to be helpfull to the discussion .

That's funny you said that, as I have been wanting to steal this 70w security light from the alley down the street!!! I was thinking the same way pretty much, I felt since all HID dudes can bitch about is yield then maybe a low watt 70w HPS in the middle of my 252w of CFLs would be just enough to match the yield or possibly beat it and still keep that quality...

I had 5 35 watt cfls and was getting the frostiest nugs I ever had , when I added the hps 65 0r 70 watt MY nugs got noticibly thicker . Cant give exact wieghts as i didnt have a scale at that point in my life . I did another grow with a 150 hps in the same space , and didnt get any crystals until the next run when i added 2 of the 35 watt cfls . Thunder be carefull coming up on that light , dont get caught by anyone or electricuted PEACE 707 CFL :dueling: HPS

I wish I had enough dough to get 70 w HPS, 70-ish w CFLs, and 70-ish w of LEDs. To me that would be the best of all worlds, CFLs for blue, HPS for red, and LEDs for supplemental lighting.

Thanks I doubt I'll do it.. probably just end up buying one for $30 at Home De Pot, I want to get those drop inbetween the canopy LEDs I posted about earlier in the week

the more light the better, even if mixing and wanting to get a cfl close to the back of a cola e.t.c if you get a choice and can add more or another hps then even better.
watt for watt hps will always pull more, especially when grown with scrog, if you can fit a suitable hps bulb in there then do it.

and no mocking of the 70w's they were a popular bulb back on OG 2002? and able to pull 1g/w in a 1ftx1ft, providing you knew your strain and trained them right..

Personally I grow micro for stealth purposes.

The single most significant advantage to using CFLs in a micro grow is being able to cool things with air flow that's just adequate for plant growth.

I'm cooling 220w of PL-L Dulux 55w CFL lamps with a 50CFM bathroom fart fan obstructed by an odor scrubber. My cab temps never break 7F over ambient temp. Try that with any HPS, CMH or MH lamp in that wattage range. :noway:

I've used low wattage and high wattage HPS and for stealth, quality of product and negligible cooling you can't beat remote ballast CFL. Any degree drop in temp you can get in your setup is a significant advantage for stealth purposes.

I'll stick with CFLs until they come up with something better, or they change the laws and I can grow in the open.

ive seen monster grows under tubes, but far more than what you use and they can do some good stuff. why not use more?? to compensate for not using hps, i would :joint:
and your tubes are not really the same as the twist ones used here, they are much better.

got a grow diary on here?

Tubes provide great growth, but I've never seen someone use tubes in a micro grow outside of those guys who do the circular thing.

I don't have a grow diary but I'll post a pic of what's going on under my 220w array at the moment. There are 5 C-99's in there with a SweetTooth#3XPrincessDiesel cross filling out space number six on the far right.
I know the photo sucks but it's the only one I've ever shared up to this point so enjoy. :)

Im working currently on small LED panels for use that way, working from a PC Power Supply. But they will use high efficiency LEDs, not as CMX lights that use signaling LEDs that gives very little useful light. Im going to use from 300 to 600% more efficient medium power LEDs. They will came humidity protected and wont give any noticiable heat, and the panel finished with a highly reflective coating: specially designed for intracanopy use.

Only problem is trying to be able to produce them cheap enough. But ill send you some for testing when avalaible.

i think you can squeeze 2 more bulbs in there, one on the back wall and one across where your door is :joint: gwan 330w ;)
