i've let the auctions run low so we can launch a whole lot of new donations
tomorrow I'll be releasing a lot of new donations on a 3 day weekend special
so look out for some very nice new crosses and get them quick as some are very limited stock

A spot BIN now and again could keep interest alive, as well as give some, who really don't have the coin to take advantage of some of the best stock being donated, a fair chance at also acquiring some of these gems. I'm just sayin'.... :)

Heck, make every bin a $50 to make it fair.

Can't wait to see some of these three day auctions. Seems like a solid idea to me.

So we will see specials this week? It sounds that way but would like some clarification please. Thank you pink.

passing thoughts...

passing thoughts...

Ya know...I understand the whole purpose and point of the auction is to make as much money as possible...and I don't necessarily feel that it is wrong to take advantage of the the opportunity that the generosity of the donors has provided.

However, for one example,

The Brother Monk Deep Chunk....listing started at 5 packages of seeds. They sold for well over $200 and one for even over $300. I suppose this is all non-important if the buyers do not come through with their commitments, but it just seems that those prices would have NEVER hit that ceiling if ALL the Deep Chunk went up for auction at the same time...just doesn't settle very well with me.

or...

annaC's seeds, that they offer at $20-25 normally on the bay, going for $75+ during the auctions. Why have those not been listed on the Bay at normal prices for so long if they are so readily available?...

Don't get me wrong, I think the cause is a worthy one, and I understand the extremely high cost of using Amsterdam as a venue, but I just think perhaps the tactics being used could be a bit more direct. Perhaps an update of what/how much of something there is left for auction that has not yet been listed...I don't know.

Although I suppose on the flip side of the coin, listing them at separate times does provide more users with the opportunity to obtain these genetics, as not all users/members are going to be logging in necessarily at the same time or multiple times during a given week...so in that sense, I suppose it is justifiable.

Ahhh...never mind, not really trying to stir up anything...just thinking out loud about something that has been on my mind. I am glad to see the members of the forum are so generous. I think it would be awesome for Gypsy to give those that contributed and are actually making the trip to the 'dam some sort of "thank you" gesture in a smoke session of some rare hash or something...maybe a goodie bag...I don't know, just some way to show gratitude for the generosity of his members....(and this is not to suggest or imply that Gypsy is in any way ungrateful)

Anyway...love the auctions...love the chance to get other board members prized gardens...very cool.

dank. frank........Deep Chunk is a highly coveted strain, that has been out of the loop for a long time. That is why they brought in such a good purse. I could have held them, or auctioned them myself and got an even higher price. Out of respect for Tom Hill's giving spirit, and the generosity that has been shown to me on this site, I let the first packs go for the 420 auction. It is a good cause, and this site is worth the small gesture.

Seedbay is a business, and the way they list seeds is probably a good strategy.

Accolades?? Yeah bro, an honorable mention at the cup would be nice, since I can't be there. HTC is the company who made the Deep Chunk auction a success. I was only the vehicle that got them there. Much love Gypsy and Tom Hill and HTC!

For sure. I don't want to bring about the wrong concept or give off a negative impression. I totally respect what is happening and once again want to state that I think the auction is an excellent opportunity to give members a chance to have access to others projects that we see in the forums all the time. And I completely understand the approach and the marketing that goes into how/when the strains are listed and auctioned of in smaller disbursements. I think it is for the purpose of driving the bidding higher in a frenzy that there may not be more...so it is effective and it is appropriate in all ways...even intelligent.

I understand that these are not your original stock and that you obtained them from T. Hill, and it was his original project. And that DC is a very sought after strain. I think it is respectable of you to continue on as you have by giving these seeds away for a purpose such as the one you have.

I still, from a consumer side of things, and this is just me personally, would want to know if more were going to be listed...rather than going all out for what is otherwise perceived as the last of the last...but I do not feel that what is being done is shady or underhanded...

MOSTLY, just think a drastic effort should be made to thank/reward those who are contributing to the financial aspect of making the 420 in Amsterdam a reality....honorable mention in new thread...PERHAPS...a thread that shows how much each individual contributor has raised...make it a contest to see who can help raise the most by their donated seeds...that would encourage others to send in such widely sought genetics, and give recognition.

At any rate...it was more so a passing thought, and was not meant to be negative or degrading in any way at all. I assure you of this. I am not about the drama...

If you would prefer, I would be more than glad to delete this and the previous post...just PM if that is your preference. Not trying to open a can of worms so to speak...and definitely no disrespect was intended.

First off Seedbay is an auction site.......so what we are trying to do is get most of the seed-lots presented there so that people can bid on them.....

The fundraiser is partly to help with the expenses of the 4/20 Cup but also a way that members can contribute to the server bills of this site......and we will be running these donator auctions indefinately throughout the year so that anyone with some good seeds can help out with what it costs us to keep icm.com here....

As we have seen in the past quite a few seed-lots are bid on.....the auction closes but we do not receive payment for them .....so we have to re-list them again.....

Those that do send in seeds for the auction are actively helping to pay the bills and I thank them warmly for doing this.......What we are seeing also is that un-known and up and coming breeders are managing to get their creations out there to other growers and breeders to try and this may well lead to seedbay and seedboutique stocking more of their varieties in the future......Even established breeders are helping out with unusual/rare crosses from limited stock that otherwise might not have been available for anyone to purchase......

All in all its a win-win situation for the growers and breeders that donate to icm and icm.....for it creates alot of interest at the same time as supporting the site.....

"As we have seen in the past quite a few seed-lots are bid on.....the auction closes but we do not receive payment for them .....so we have to re-list them again....." Quoted by Gypsy Nirvana, To solve this problem why not do BIN's, id say the chances are greatly higher of a buyer paying if the auctions were Set to Buy It now??????????
