Cleaning(not flushing) for reuse, Coco

I recently was lucky enough to hae a successful seed shipment end up on my door, from none other than Gypsy. To make a long story short, After paper toweling to tap roots, then placing in coco only three out of nine seeds ever broke the surface.
The problem is/was fungus gnat larvae. I found them feasting on the tap roots of the yet to sprout seeds. Bummer.
I am scared to plant the others.
Gnats are under control as i have only seen two ever in my home, and killed it. The other is still on the loose, or the dogs swallowed it up.
Larvae are a different story. As per Heady Pete and WNinja, and weedhound's advice i used some mosquito dunks to combat them.
As for getting them out of the unused/reused coco i was told i could put it in the oven at 200 degrees for a few hours or flush the stuff with SM-90.
What do the experts here in the COCO forum suggest? I dont want to lose the rest of my seeds, and really want to pop them as i am now two weeks behind whatever schedule i decided i was on in the first place.
Thanks and Respect

i would flush your coco with the water that has the mosquito dunks in it a couple times then start your beans in a week:2cents:

Gdawg i think that is a great idea. Sort of what i was leaning towards.

Irie- Mosquito dunks are a bacterie named BTi, short for something long. Oertime when the larae digest them, they die. They are said to be harmless to Humans and pets. I sure hope so as these little donut looking things are all oer the house. In all rez's.

I gnatrol just renamed skito dunk? Cuz that's very similar to the gescription I got for gnatrol. (larvae feasting bacteria)

Supposedly the bacteria break the larvae down into nutrients for the plants and there is zero negative effect on the plant or product.

I wouldn't start seeds in the used stuff even after treating it, use new stuff to start em and use the old when you pot-up, by that time the plant will be strong enough to win any battles with whatever may be left in the coco.

Tony- I am with you 100% on using the new coco. I went out and bought a new bag of Atami B'cuzz so i could pop my seeds. It was the seedlings that were supplied from this NEW bag that i was first introduced to these little pests. I felt cheated and abused. :moon:
I am not saying they were brought into the house in this bag, but that is the only place they did damage, so far.
I also planted lots of clones and a few other seedlings in this coco and they are doing great. :woohoo:
I think i will treat the new stuff with the dunks for about a week and then go ahead and plant into it. Hopefully the BTi will not negatively effect the Seeds. I'll report back as to how it goes.
Thanks ya'll for the advice

I used the doughnut mosquito dunks throughout my last grow. I had them in there ripe. I put one doughnut in my res and then sprinkled one up amongst all my plants (one doughnut for all the plants) and it did real good to get the numbers down. But those little guys are persistant and I still see them now and again.
