The first picture that came into my head was seeing some guy with tiny tweezers and a microscope picking each trich one by one and stacking them up. That would take forever.lol

Top notch stuff right there. I've always felt that completely pure dry sift full melt has to be the pinnacle of goodness when it comes to concentrates. I'm a big bubblehash smoker and sometimes oil, but I'd trade those for full melt dry sift anyday.
Seriously though 10 grams off a kilo thats more like a .5% return. I'm sure the rest isn't just thrown away though it's probably more accurate to say he gets a .5% return of his best dry sift. His overall yield is probably much higher.

, i think the method Sam uses is probably something simple yet really effective,
i'm thinking washing machineslol, not inside it tho, on top of the washing machine while it's turned on - all washing machines vibrate slightly - sometimes alot if it's old), using double screens,
then either some sort of small cover over the screens so if the buds are bounching about they won't bounce of the screen
, either that or:
same method as before except change the cover to something like a metal mesh screen placed a half inch above the buds (which are on the screen), so when the buds are bouncing around when the washing machine is turned on the metal mesh will give a resistance and push towards the screen layers, brainstorming while high lol

The first step to all perplexing solves is to simplify said the rocket scientist. Very happy to see this thread take a direction towards a mass meeting of the minds from the direction it seemed to be taking earlier. There is no way that the answer is manual separation, lol, though I thoroughly enjoyed the trained ants theory. We all can do this folks, maybe not as efficiently as Sam does, but we can do it none the less. Yes, some time will be required. The pictures plainly dictate what needs to happen. All stalks must be broken free and heads captured. If I wasn't in the tropics without access to a meat locker, sigh, come one guys get to it! 
Ya know. I dont really have time to try different extraction methods. But I bet a visit to the University with the pics in hand would solve it.
Until then, I will continue to smoke nuggets and the occasional scissor hash.
I do think dry sift returns the best tasting hash. Most bubble and ISO I have tried have a bland, watery taste. Nothing like the scissor hash, and dry sift.

im using a wikka box right now ,and the dry sift is ok it has 100 m screen in it but it does not melt or any thing like that but its stll pretty good smoke....peace
