Dont try and reason with these clowns smokey . They cant have a discusion unless it ends with cfls rule . Thundurkle is a lying clown thats the second time he has shown a bud got clowned and then try to say it had three more weeks . This thread is for the truth and sometimes that hurts . HPS AND CFLS ARE GREAT LIGHTS . cfl imo are btr in small places and hps are better in large gardens . But hps are the best light ever lol

Im sorry but some of you are acting like girls. Thunder, you too man.

Can we please cut it out now.

Pple make claims all the time. I just take it for what it's worth. Who cares if he yeilds 2pounds/2months. Who cares if your hid grow is the best in the entire universe and everyone else gets the balls. These are just typed words wether embelished or not.

You guys need to develop self control- dont type if youre just typing dumb shit. YOu know when youre typing dumb shit.

They are over there arguing over legalization, #1 reason why communities get no where, bithces arguee. Period. NO UNITY! not for lights, not for freedom .Just grow and shut the fuck up. Oh, and legalize.

Dr Bud preached open mindness, Thuder has done this too. In a tight spot think about cfl, it does work, it might be all you got,.. it ain't just for veging anymore.

Keep on thinking free

Right back at ya cat man . Hey green smoke selling seeds online is what got overgrow shutdown , not people debating cfl and hps lights . Flippin cry babys . If you r going to make claims on a PUBLIC FORUM then you have dam well be ready for the opposite opinion and a few people talking crap , just like thundurkel said there will be haters or people with opinions other than his , but it will be tolerated and is welcome on this forum . This is one of the best threads ive read in a while . And ill say again that imo cfl and hps can grow great pot .

Hey all...I am building an NGB style cab and have been debating the light issue for a while now and I think I'm going with CFLs. Possibly supplemented by HPS during flower, but we'll see. I should be getting additional funds soon, so it's going to be time to invest...

This is what I think I'm going to do...

4 x 55 watt Bright Kit™

If you go to the above link and scroll down the page, you see a 4x55w and a 6x55w combo pack. I know that if I were to buy parts separately I could run a set up like this for considerably cheaper, but I'd be buying the parts online, and due to my lack of experience, I'd undoubtedly forget something and be stuck...so I'm going to take the easy road and buy a pre-fab kit.

 • Now, I just need to figure out what bulbs to outfit this set up with.

Any ideas????

Below are the 55w bulbs listed on their site.

Here is some additional information regarding the bulbs...can you help translate this for me?

** Bulbs with a Color Temperature of 5500K through 7800K are appropriate for freshwater planted aquariums. There is no practical difference regarding plant growth, but there is an appearance difference. Bulbs around 5500K have a warmer daylight appearance similar to early morning light. Bulbs around 6700K have an appearance more like daylight in the middle of the afternoon under a clear blue sky. The 7800K bulb are just slightly bluer than the 6700K but maintain a balanced, daylight spectrum.

For marine aquariums, you'll want to mix 7800K or 10000K bulbs with Blue bulbs in a ratio of 1:1 or 2:1 or use the Combo bulbs which have one tube that is 10000K and the other tube dark blue actinic.

For Blue actinic bulbs we provide a description rather than a color temperature so you'll better understand what appearance to expect. Those bulbs called Bright/Medium Blue put out most of their light between 400nm and 500nm. Those called Dark/Deep Blue put out most of their light between 380nm and 450nm. Both have their primary spectral peak at around 420-430nm. Actinism is a property of radiation which, in the visible spectrum, has wavelengths between 380nm and 500nm.

I've also looked at these bulbs from HTG Garden supply...

I've never seen a whole lot of convo about T5s on ICmag..

Here is a 2 month (at most) veg from seed in 1 gallon bags with a 2 foot, 2 bulb 54W T5HO.

I've seen some impressive flower results from these and I wonder how it would scale up using the DrBud method. Some body needs to do this!

The 6700K bulbs would be perfect for vegging, the bulbs with color temps higher than that are for aquatic plants. AH is a good source for those 6700K lamps.

For flowering, you want a lower temp bulb, the link Tanuvan posted is a good source for the flowering bulbs. 4100K was used to good effect in 'the high pod' thread: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=92259

You might also try mixing some 4100K bulbs with some 3500K or even 3000K bulbs just to get a wider spectrum of coverage.

What I would really suggest you do is search for all the posts 'Knna' has done, he is one of the most knowledgeable posters on light issues in general, you will learn a great deal on the topic by carefully reading each of his posts (and if anything he says conflicts with what I have posted, I strongly suggest you listen to him, not me).

I appreciate the input, Stink. I will certainly mix up the bulbs to cover the spectrum, but was wondering about the ratio, etc.

I don't really know about ordering from 1000bulbs, because there's so damn many of them, and price is not an issue...I just want to be sure that I'm getting the best bulb possible for vegging and flower.

I will look up knna's posts and see what he's got and maybe shoot some questions to him. I've heard others refer to him as a light "guru" of sorts. Thanks!

I'll also re-read the high-pod thread. What a killer thread that was!

Thanks again!

Those kits are pretty sweet! Not to pricey IMO since you get the reflectors as well, I'd like to see what a plant flowered under the 5500K bulbs cuz since I added a 5100k 23w bulb in my smaller cab I'm getting more crystal production on my Purple Kush than I've seen before... I was also reading that photosynthesis produces faster under a mixed spectrum so that it also something to think about I mean who knows we might just be missing out by not flowering with the 5000-5500K spectrum bulbs since it's more like the sun and they still have the same amount of red as the 2700K bulbs so I've been wanting to give them a run with 70% 5100K 30% 2700K ever since I saw what Infectualize pulled off with the Hi Pod so when I have the money to get another cab going I will order some of them to put in the mix..

Fuck CFLs.... t5 microgrows baby. That's where it's at!

Come on bro that was ignorant  your T5 is a Compact Fluorescent and is the same type of light.... If you don't have something to add to the thread then don't bother, I have a 4ft 6500K 54w T5 Sunblaze Strip and I thought that would be fine to veg my moms and clones since T5's are"Where it's at!" and boy was I shocked when my plants weren't growing fast like them were in my CFL cab so I added 3 26w Daylight CFLs that 6500K and they are brighter than the T5 and my moms got back to growing fast like they were :yeahthats

Yeah...the kits are pretty sweet, and when you're looking at $130 for four of them, that's around $35 (including shipping) for each kit.

All set to go...and all hardware included. The reflectors are nice, eh?

Still trying to get a good idea on bulbs, though...I'm going to do some more research today. Keep an eye out on my thread to see what I'm doing!

What is to research? The link I provided are the exact bulbs you need. Just pick your color spectrum. Grab the G.E. bulbs if you want better quality...
