Just picked up one of these from a friend.. its a pretty old piece about 8 years or more. This one is made by Josh Greevo the guy who first started blowing these in Lake Tahoe. Just wanted to show it off and see if anyone else enjoys using these as well. Post pics of yours!

not for nothin' but did you ever consider the hole you're punching in the atmosphere every
time you fire up your torch long enough to heat glass? Not a very green method.

Well i must say thats nice piece there .but do u have to heat it every toke ?
Cuz that would be a little bad i guess just my thought. Ofcourse it would be better than using a magnifier and sun to light a match to light a lighter to light a torch to heat the class to light the bowl. whew got it out

I hate glass rods, it seems like I had to torch the fuck out of the rod for like at least 3-4 minutes.

Ya i dont have to torch for long.. after about 20-30 seconds its ready to go... Its not for those thats just wanna smoke a bowl and get it over with quickly.. and i dont use it every-time. Just something that lets you get the full flavor without any crappy butane ruining it.

Stoner4Life: Last time I checked.. every single method of lighting anything will use some sort of butane or electricity.. If you think this is bad try 400 watts for a vaporizer or 1000 watts for growing a couple plants..

If saving the environment is your thing.. then you shouldn't be smoking anything except 100% organic outdoor by rubbing 2 sticks together to get fire..

Hb cool i do like to taste my bud 4 sure and butane does taste like crap.
Does it vaporize or used to light the bud ? Cuz i never seen one .

you just use it to light it.. when you get it really hot you dont even have to touch it.. just let it hover right above and it will burn it down to nothing way faster then a lighter. Best for using only with bong rips cause it would be a pain with any kinda pipe.

You can't be serious...
"Green" is nothing but a perception.

Campaigning against the malicious few, that actually do have harming the earth in mind, is a laudable virtue. But to rally against those who are simply living life, and doing no obvious harm, is very hypocritical to say the least. Because I guarantee you, I can point out something that one of you over-zealous "greenies" are doing in your lives that does not fit with others view of righteous living on the earth.

In simpler terms...the greenies need to get a clue and realize that the shit they preach is not founded in science in any way shape or form.
And they should put their criticisms to good use, instead of chastising others and using junk shit science, and their emotions, as their only weapons.
Unintelligent shit gets real tiring to see.

BTW..
I think that glass piece is very unique. Not for me, but it looks nice.

i can imagine stoners thermal shocking the glass and having it chip off into their eyes with this method.... people use pretty big rods (like in the picture) which is about 8mm. Using a 2mm is even better and quicker to heat up if you don't have one of these:

every time there is a glass rod thread you don't need to voice your
opinion. we know your in love with your fucking hakko or whatever it
and your against using bics, and glass rods, but honestly no one cares.
i hate using soldering irons. to each there own.

i don't know what you're talking about. you must be heating your rod
up with a lighter or something. i hold mine up to the torch for 20-30 seconds
maximum and that is sufficient enough. it takes about as long to heat up as your hakko
does. it doesn't have to be some huge torch or something either.
i've also experimented with the rods enough and i know exactly when its hot enough
to basically vaporize it. it doesn't singe the fuck out of it like a soldering iron might.

I was using a propane torch at the time.

it takes about as long to heat up as your hakko
does.

My hakko is smoke ready in ten seconds form plugging in.

it doesn't have to be some huge torch or something either.

Yeah because you have a temperature gauge on that glass rod? No sorry if it hot enough to make it smoke your not vaporizing.

it doesn't singe the fuck out of it like a soldering iron might.

My hakko doesn't singe the fuck out of anything. it's a 25 watt unit which heats it up to around 750 degrees. doesn't even come close to igniting bud at all. not even close.

Stop with the drama and post some pics of what your using.. Of course everyone has a different opinion of what works best. This is a thread for people that prefer to use glass.. It gets way hot enough to vaporize/burn anything you touch, works great and I dont have to taste / smell a soldering iron.

please learn to use the quote system. if you quote someone else you
don't quote yourself too.

My hakko is smoke ready in ten seconds form plugging in.
OMG!!!!! AN EXTRA 10-20 SECONDS.... AHHHHH! WHAT TO DO!!!

you must be so lucky to have all that extra time in your life. i feel like
i have been wasting my life away now. haha... always one to do things
the hard way i guess. if you could even call it that!

we know you think your damn hakko its the greatest thing since the light bulb but,
give it a rest already. the original posters piece of art is much nicer than your damn
14.99 plastic came in a package tool anyone and everyone can get.
