Fresh Start-
48 hours is about the limit for keeping teas. And that's if you keep bubbling them.

GH-
Don't submerse your roots. Water from the top. Water them when they need it.

One more on tea..

One more on tea..

Would adding magnesium sulfate to the tea upset the balance (of the cosmos?) in anyway? I need to supplement my plant with it cause I ain't got it in the medium (oyster shells instead of dolomite).

Want to let the board know I'm keeping a grow journal about the guano recipe's listed here and LC's mix #1. All with a church clone. Things are good. She's looking healthy. She actually just got theses little yellow tips on her biggest leaves. So I foliar fed her some mag. Hope it helps. Thanks burn:ying:

With a magnesium deficiency, the leaves point upward like they're "praying for magnesium". Magnesium Sulfate (Epsom Salts) is salt. It'll work, just make sure it's what your plant is needing.

I'm curious why Recipe #4 has to be used with used soil. You couldn't build a new soil using those amendments at those ratios? Would it be too hot?

When you do use it with used soil, are you able to feed with teas (occasionally) or would you just strictly water?

Thanks

Using that recipe of amendments, there will be plenty left after a grow. Used soil is full of biological activity as well. You can supplement with teas if needed.

I'm using LC's #1 soil mix with the # 3 guano mix . I don't have any worm castings and was wondering what I could use to substitute for my next watering. I've watered without it before and the plants did seem to suffer, not sure if that's why. to guess, I would say it was a ph isssue.thanks again

Unam-
Welcome to IC.
You can cut the mix 50/50 and plant the clones in small nursery post or 16 oz. plastic cups with a couple of holes in the bottom until they get well rooted. Then go to the full strength mix in 3 gallon pots until harvest.
You can supplement with Recipe #3 if needed.
Keep us posted on your grow.

Hello
I cut the hot mix 50/50 with plain LC mix and the clones took off, they loved it, I hit them with fish/kelp after the transplant and then with plain water followed by molasses EWC tea, they couldnt be happier.

I'm planning to flower soon, but having trouble finding 3 gallon pots, would 10inch pots work OK?

You can try "Black Kow" composted cow manure or mushroom compost.

Havent been able to scoop up any worm castings, black kow, or mushroom compost locally.

Scooped up some MG Organic Choice Potting Soil on sale. "Consists of 50-55% composted bark, sphagnum peat moss, pasteurized poultry litter, and an organic wetting agent". Fertilizer Analysis 0.10 - 0.05 - 0.05

It is very rich, dark, and heavy. Very reminiscent of composted cow manure and humus that Ive gotten at depot years ago.

Would this be suitable as a substitute for the 2 parts humic component? (worm castings/manure/compost)

edited to say: after looking further into the garden and potting mixes, it appears the potting mix lacks the manure contained in the garden mix. Garden Mix fertilizer analysis - 0.10 - 0.05 - 0.10, giving it twice the K of the potting mix.

Suggestions?

InjectTruth-
Surely you can find some kind of composted manure. Sheep, cow, horse or rabbit. Just look for something with low NPK numbers on it.

When i ad maxicrop, molasses, and LK to my compost tea, i know i'm feeding the microbes but is all/most of these things consumed? Are my plants getting maxicrop, molasses, and LK from the tea or is it just to feed the microbes and i should still use the maxicrop and LK w/ plain water?

I have a slight problem. I mixed up a batch of soil using recipe 1, and I wetted the mix using water and LK. I am moving next month, and I haven't been able to use the soil. It has dried out. Is this soil still good? Can I just start re-wetting it again once I am ready to use it?

I hope I don't have to throw the soil away. Thanks for your help

It's the stuff the microbes excrete that feed the plant. If we used Maxicrop, blood, bone, guano, etc. without any microherd, the plant would starve. Bacteria guano is what we're after in organic growing.

There should be SOME moisture in there. Stir it up good and see. It should be damp and black but not wet.

Powdered dolomite lime is fast acting and mixes well. Pelletized dolomite lime can take up to three months to start working. Just ask any landscaper.

Im thinking about using the

LC's Soiless Mix #2
and
RECIPE #5
Fish and Seaweed

a couple questions.

is there anything else i should add to this or is it really that simple?

do i feed on every watering or every other watering?

I've tried both LC#2 using FFOF and LC#1 using Sunshine Peat. I followed both recipes exactly and used Vierra's worm castings in both attempts.

Both mixes were both too soggy, holding water, especially at the bottom of the pots way too long compared to FFOF that I"ve used in previous grows.

I'd prefer mixing my own but would like you opinion as to what went wrong in both attempts. Is the Sunshine peat too fine or possibly the castings, which have the consistency of finely ground coffee?

It's that simple. The plant determines when it needs feeding. I always recommend you follow the directions on the bottle.

Did you add the perlite? I've never experienced that problem. And, I have used FFOF for peat in the recipe. Check your method again.
