But, you showed ID (Proof of Residence) when you got your Rec...right??

Even if they write him the recc, no legitimate shop will allow you entry without a CA DL or ID.....

In fact alot of the shops around me require both the original reccomendation and your CA license each visit....

From the medicann doctor yes... they even photocopied it onto my reccomendation.

Other doctors no. They had no reason to believe I wasn't myself, so why ID me? Think about it like this. Last time you saw a doctor and not a pot doc from medicann, Did they card you (besides insurance card)? I highly doubt it. Maybe if it was an ER trip, but otherwise I doubt it.

So if you are from out of state and concerned about this. Just get a po box or use a friends addy and pay california $13 for an id card, will probably have to show social security card, birth cert, and out of state id to get california DMV. Then wait 2 - 3 weeks for delivery of your california id card and then goto medicann.

Seriously though, only Medicann has asked for a government issued ID card to prove my identity. Other times yes collectives/coops/clubs ect. have asked to see my state id card when I would present my recommendation (from other docs not medicann)

"Other" Dr's are not issuing a Recommendation to smoke Cannabis--
I have never been to a Dr, that I have not shown something...even your Insurance Card enables them to bring up your Billing info--
Dude...I'm not trying to fuck with you...but you are giving false info....
You DO need proof of residence to get your 215 card...from Anybody-- But like stated before, it can be as simple as a Utility Bill or Rent Receipt in your name--

DUDE I AM NOT GIVING OUT FALSE INFO....

Dr. Milan Hopkins in Lake County the first doctor to ever give me a recommendation (who also was the first to realize that I wasn't ADHD but actually BiPolar) did not ask to see any sort of ID for me. There wasn't even an expiration date for the recommendation. (this was in 2000).

Only reason I went to Medicann (and yes they do ID) was because a lot of clubs didn't like that my recommendation was so old despite California Court of Appeals rulings that recommendations DO NOT NEED an expiration/renewal date. People Vs Windus http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/opinions/documents/B196483.PDF

But then again when you drop a stack of medical documentation to support your claim for medical need for cannabis it's pretty aparent that I am who I said I am.... ME....

And furthermore I am not talking about the VOLUNTARY state issued cannabis patient cards. I am talking about getting the doctors recommendation, which is the real green ticket.

That worked...NOT, for you-- As you said, Clubs would not honor your expired Rec...and that was a Dr who already had seen your medical Records...and guess what, they contain your Billing Info--
Honestly bro, I am not trying to call you out, but to tell somebody that they can mosey on up to Cali, and get a Rec...without ID or proof of residence, is simply not true--

Yeah I know you aren't trying to call me out...Its all good bro just different experiences. btw my recommendation wasn't expired because there was NO expiration date. but thats another thread.... It wasn't until last summer when I started going to different clubs that I started getting grief over it. But for 8 years (2 don't really count cause I was away) I had no problems going to clubs, Absolutely none. Parole even honored that recommendation when I was done with my term.
And I am just speaking from my personal experience. Yeah if I were from out of state, I would just get a DMV issued id card... I think I pointed that out already...

If you only knew the people I know and have worked for....

would it just blow my mind like a few hits of L?????

having previously worked,,,co-owned and vended to mmj co-ops,,,, i think i have a pretty good idea to the days to days ,,,,espically in my own town..

where you from brotha,,, lake county ??? hanging out with lepp and all them cats. planting fields on road 20?????

LA aint nothing like LC,,,iplenty of raids,,,undercovers and DEA around here. and it makes the shops stay legit. which means that requires ID and RECC. why would you tell anyone that you would not need an ID ?

i have jumped trains without tickets and not been arrested. dont mean i should go around telling people not to pay for rail pass..

every shop i have been to requires AT THE LEAST a california liscense//i.d. card. most will require not only california id,,, but your orig. reccomendation as well......

It still blows my mind bro...

Yeah down South isn't nothing like up here. But don't think the feds aren't breathing down our necks either, they are still busting people here too. I even made a thread about the agent who runs the dea up in this neck of the woods...

I was speaking of getting the recommendation in terms of ID not access to to coops/collectives/dispensaries/clubs ect... in one of my earlier posts in this thread I did state that the clubs would ask for my ID with my recommendation. But thats the clubs not the docs...

Back to "On-Topic"....
Yes, you do need to show proof of residence...but it is incredibly easy to do--
When I got my original Rec, from Medi-Mar...there was a guy from Oklahoma, and they denied him...but told him to bring Anything like a utility bill in his name, and they would give it to him--
It is worth it if...
You do not want to have your weed took, and pay a fine--
You wish to visit any of the many Cali Clubs--
Peace--Jim:yeahthats

ya, 95% of the ones i go to require a ca liscense and my rec.

altho depending if you were like you contracting they might make an exception. but with the dea still messing with people, most wont bend the rules esp. for people they dont know.

good luck let us know how it works out since your gonna come work in cali regardless right?

Incidentally...I recently showed up in Court, when my son got busted for weed and hash with an expired Rec...and I showed up with a copy of People Vs Windus...and after 2 Court dates, they dismissed charges--
I am not saying that it is not possible to do it, I am just saying that if someone is coming here, they may not want to rely on beating it in Court...and all the expenses involved...it is far easier, (and cheaper!!) to just go get a valid Rec--
It is so fucking easy...a Caveman can do it!! lol!!

Blue Dot

Prop 215 doesn't have any of those requirements as you guys mention.

Really?

11362.5. (a) This section shall be known and may be cited as the Compassionate Use Act of 1996.
(b) (1) The people of the State of California hereby find and declare that the purposes of the Compassionate Use Act of 1996 are as follows:

(A) To ensure that seriously ill Californians have the right to obtain and use marijuana for medical purposes...

Well put FREEDOM but in MOST cases YES you do need to be a CA resident.

I had my temp CA driver's license within 48 hours of crossing the state line. It took that long because I had to go to the courthouse to get my birth certificate and that took me past closing that day. You really just need a place for them to mail the permanent license to in state.

I believe the new MI law is also reciprocal. That would be CA is good in RI and MI, but not vice versa.
