You shouldn't put so much faith in this guy.

Just because the man is black people think he will have compassion for the common man, that he will actually try to do good to help turn the world around for the better...nobody gets to be president by being a nice guy with good intentions. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE.

I knew that Obama would win from the moment I saw he was running for president. I didn't need to know who the other guy was.

Our societies and the world are crumbling and they know this...they know we know this. That is why they have offered this last glimmering bit of hope for the people. You finally have your black president. The world has changed and this is the proof!....
This guy will be responsible for more deaths, corruption and lies than Bush has under his belt. That is obvious to me. Just look where we are heading.

Do you all think Bush put those crazy anti-terrorist laws into place for no reason? This is the guy that will carry on the torch...prepare for some severely fucked up times to come people.

Say hello to the new world order. It will come just after the next big disaster grips the entire world forcing us to plead to the government to save us from this new threat. This is of course after the terrorism stories start to wear thin in the media and they require a new attention-grabbing atrocity giving us our new enemy.

Are you ready for your bio-metric ID card? Well you'll have to be because in a couple of years your driving license and passport will be useless and you'll have to pay for this card or you won't be able to live basically.
Take a look on your photocard driving license....I'll bet it has a date in 2011 that is your 'license valid to' date. I could be wrong but my friend checked his and it has exactly the same date on as mine.

This is your 4 minute warning.

i'm not sure i understand. What gave you this idea?

We are as free as we were this morning..............Things will not change in Washington as long as special interests, big business and lobbyist are aloud to run rampant with their check books in hand and throw money at politicians at will.

"Of course you missed the point entirely! Aretha didn't screw up anything! She has a Southern accent just like I do and if you had half a nugget for brains you would know that about one of the countries all time great performers! What she brought was that soulful, painful, deep smoldering hurt of 200 years of slavery and every year after that of hope of equality. But watching all that historic stuff goin on and all you could come up with was this thread?? Ignore the fact that she suffered thru all the Jim Crow laws of the 50-60's when she couldn't even be in most spots as a patron that she performed in. Forget how she helped birth a entire genre of music with a voice more powerful than anything you or I have ever heard. Forget how she suffered/marched/spoke along with MLK and others who helped make all this possible today! With all the celebrations of unity and moving our country past its hurtful past you want to make fun. Yes!! Lets pay attention to the perceived slur/mistakes of her and Obama's words. Bet you wouldn't have made any mistakes in front of 2 million people either.

And last!! Mass hysteria?? I think that is what we have had for the last 8 years!! Some jackass tells you that he won the Presidency fair and square! Never mind the missing votes from Florida that my brother helped dissapear! I won!! That same jackass tells you that Saddam has played a major role in 911. All his cabinet quits, everyone says you have no proof, he enacts special laws to listen to your phone, e-mails, investigate any aspect of your life without proof, lock you up in a foreign country with no rights what so ever!! You still believe!! Then he invades Iraq and Afghanistan again with no proof! Has the leader of Iraq killed by his own paper gov. and still you believe!! You know he sent all his cronies and their families home on the only plane that was allowed to fly on 9-11 possibly sending those responsible home along too!! Yet you still believe!! He referred to his own half Latino nephew as "the dark one" and you still believe!! I am glad that I fought for and live in a country where ignorant jackasses can end up as President and those with the intelligence of a bathroom doorknob can follow!! Thank God he can go back to Texas now cause I heard they were missing their village idiot!

Yeah!! Way to usher in a era of new and exciting change!! I swear sometimes it is hard to believe that some of you beat out 1-3 million other sperm cells to win the race!!"
-rainman-

Must spread some rep around before givin to rainman again....

Today was a beautiful day for America and HUGE step forward.

Racism would be a thing of the past IF we would just figure out that many who ACT like they are championing a fight against it, are in reality PERPETUATING it.
:fsu:

Happens all the time, and it is simply overlooked by the masses. I for the life of me can't figure it out. Well, I can...but this isn't the place to discuss the whys I suppose....
I just want to give a brief description of what I am talking about.
I know not much has been said about the speeches at Obama's inauguration, save for those who are pissed that a Christian would be allowed up on the podium to pray...but I would like to take a closer look at one of the prayers.

Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around -- (laughter) -- when yellow will be mellow -- (laughter) -- when the red man can get ahead, man -- (laughter) -- and when white will embrace what is right.

Let all those who do justice and love mercy say amen.

I'm sorry folks...but this Preacher, and I have no idea what his religious affiliation is, needs to do some reading and find out just what planet he is living on. What an incompetent asshole to have the nerve to perpetuate racism and hatred on the steps of the US Capital.
Oh, he wasn't perpetuating the hate?
Well, explain to me just when was the last time that a black man had to go to the back? He is praying for that day....
And when can brown not stick around? He is praying for that day....
Yellow aint mellow? Get a grip preach...
Red man can't get ahead? Well, he may have one there...but he may want to take that up with those who get the million dollar checks on the res...
White doesn't embrace what is right? Well, I suppose if you have an agenda to perpetuate the hatred of racism, then you must make the modern day white man as the evil doer who simply doesn't see right from wrong.

I'm sorry to those who are wearing rose colored glasses, but this is yet another blatant show of ignorance form those who are not in search of true equality. And by a so called preacher no less.

I think it high time that the real oppressors and racists (ie Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and this asshole preacher) take a seat and shut the fuck up!
Your racist US has been gone for quite some time now...and you need to let it be GONE!

Thank you my fellow Obama supporters. We have done it. We have put a compassionate man, who I thoroughly believe has the greatest of intentions for our country into the Presidency.

I have felt this way since I first saw Barack in 2004 at the Democratic National Convention. I tend to be an extremely good judge of peoples character. You can see true honesty, and the disgust with what has happened to our Country over the last 8 years in his eyes... You could see it four years ago at the Convention.

It sounds ridiculous, but Kerry losing in 2004, seems to have made this win all the sweeter. Then you think about the last four years... Much rather would have had Kerry win and then Obama in 2008 win :p

I am not afraid to say that I honestly loved this man two minutes into his Convention Speech in 2004...

All of us should be celebrating, we have put someone in office is who I honestly believe really understands the problems facing our Country, and the problems brought on our Country by our own elected officials. Democrat and Republican. When I say this, I mean, I think he understand even more so than Clinton did during his Presidency. Then again, our Country wasn't nearly as bad of course.

It sickens me to come onto this thread and see people dissing, or lacking faith in Obama.

"He won't legalize pot!"

Yeah? well, maybe....JUST MAYBE there are bigger fish to fry at the moment. I do believe though, that even if it takes him two terms, he will decriminalize or legalize and pardon every non-violent marijuana offender. If anyone is going to do it within the next ten years, it will be him. Until then, study up on your safety, be careful, be safe and celebrate our first real victory in years.

Yes, we can :joint:

I believe your a bit out of context. Yesterday was a day when a lot of history all came together on the steps at the Lincoln memorial. I believe the revs speech was a ref to our history and how its gone full circle.

The preacher was a classic tune, a real treat to hear. All men who love freedom and justice say amen! I watched bush fly away on cspan at least five times.

Babbabud, you may believe that, but what was said was clear. It was a prayer and not making reference to past events. Also funny how pundits around the globe heard the same thing I did, and are making the same comments as I.

But see...like many, you "believe" and no matter what was said, you would believe it for the best. Although you HAVE to take what was said out of context to think other than what was clearly stated. But, I'm sure some find me to be a hater just because I even dare to question such actions.

Hope is not an ideology, and change can be just as bad as good.
Some could care less about what hope and change mean, they just want hope and change.

Well, I've never liked a President before in my life. Yet I like him. I know, I know, I'm speaking too soon.

There are lots of expectations piled on this human being. He is so young and healthy looking, I feel bad because I wonder what he will look like in 4 years dealing with a fucking domestic/worldwide economic train wreck that he has inherited.

People will be mad at him in 6 months for not working miracles, because things are going to get worse, maybe for years. One human being cannot rebuild what another burnt down. My condolences are with him.

God help you Mr Obama. I hope you have a good way to de-stress. GW Bushes way was easy - no brain, no pain, leave it all up to uncle darth Cheney.

He should smoke a big fucking fatty of blue moonshine with DJ Short at the end of every day, just to take his mind off what he's gotten into!

Being that I live in the same world as Mr. Obama does I wish him all the best luck. However he is a politician first whatever else he may be and he is a real talker and promise maker. I hope he has better morals than Mr. Clinton and I hope he is able to bring this country out of recession better than Mr. Carter could...we will see
