african black

Hey bdman,

There isn't a whole lot of info on this strain. Reef received it from someone in Europe and Reef considered worth releasing. I can't remember which one of his strains he compared it to but he said it was of higher quality than that given strain at the time I considered that fairly high praise for the Black.

He also said he has no idea if it is the same African Black that Dj Short spoke off.

I hope to grab a pack next month so stay posted for a report.

of course it's not the same dj short spoke of... couldn't be

and don't even think it might be the same, who knows what dj short smoke

I scored some african black in 79 or 80 amazing mj very trippy smoke it had no bag apeal to it looked like complet shit all broken up no real complet flowers i cant rember the taste or smell now was to long ago but i rember the colour tho and affect it was dark grey black like and was very potent .

I didnt see to much of it funny thing was when i saw the oz i thort you have to be kiding me you expect me to pay for that it looks like complet shit the guy i got it from was a good friend of a friend and the only reson i got it was my friend sed if he says its good it is a small joint later i thort we need to go get more.

This mj rates up there with the very best smoke i tryed along side the greats as i call them things like old school south american lines hawiian and thias things that were very unique had very diffrent affects yet all were very potent so you only needed to smoke a little of and things that had you very high for a long period.

bcbud also has a strain called The Black I have some germinating.

The Black is an incredible indica not for the light-of-heart, thats dates back to the late 1980's in California and on Vancouver Island. This medication is guaranteed to sooth and produce, with crystal coated fan leaves that turn from dark purple to black during flowering. With an instantaneous high and a soothing narcotic nature, The Black makes for a very beneficial night time herb.

Back in the 70's, I sampled some black crumbly weed that was exceptionally and insurpassably potent. There've been few rivals to it's potency come my way since and I recall it had people spinning out at the time. Very profound smoke, not flavoursome but sheer potency at it's essence. This was the nearest thing I could liken to what I've heard of African Black. However, with this gear, I was told that it was as much about the cure as it was about the strain.

Of course there are the existence of many black strains out there, black African strains such as Ethiopian black and Malawi Black and I've even seen a Swazi Black, some extraordinary gear out there in Africa but as I had it explained to me, the black crumbly shit as Hempy describes it so well, as I knew it, involved a water cure and I am not sure where the practice was used, however I'd heard of it before in literature from the 70's...

The process involves soaking well pre-dried buds in cold water and swirling them with gentle agitation that doesn't wash away the resin. You carefully pour off the water from the top and re-dry it all out again...this decimates the volume of the buds beyond expectation and blackens their appearance to almost jet black color, it isn't attractive and you probably wouldn't take it for free if it was offered to you. The structure of the buds becomes extremely brittle and inclined to crumble into fines...
as the volume of the re-dried material shrinks away to near nothing, accordingly, the volume of resin to herb ratio is greatly increased so that you're smoking nearer to straight hashish.

When you consider the practice of the Malawi people, how they cure thier buds by burying them in the ground...the famous Malawi cobs are first wrapped in banana leaves and left buried for a period of time...these buried buds would be prone to getting wet during heavy tropical rainfall, so PERHAPS African Black originated in Malawi, and PERHAPS unintentionally(damn, didn't mean to get it wet!) but this might offer a somewhat plausible answer to the mystery regarding the whereabouts of African Black and why the search for it has been so elusive to this day.

The true african black is/was supposed to be amazing, DJ Short even rants about the high of his one.

Hope its not lost to the ages.

Dalaihempy has it right.

I thought it was about 1974 when I got some of the smoke. I bought 1/4 lb of it and then never saw it again.

Referman doesnt have any of that smoke nor does anyone else. It is lost to the ages. I don't know where the weed came from but there isnt anything available from any breeder anywhere that is even 1/2 as potent as that smoke was. The weed was greasy looking, dark brown and ugly, harsh, and the effect was initially trippy but to some extent knockout although not like an indica . A pinner would blaze 4 people. TWICE!
Potency was outrageous, the columbian gold and red that was going around during the same time period were far, far less potent than the african, although the high from those stralns was much more pleasant. I havent read the Dj opinion about the smoke, but as potent as it was, the effect for me wasnt at all pleasant. I smoked the whole 1/4 and it was dull, lithographic, introspective and then BOOM. Goodbye.

With an entire 1/4 smoked, I dont think i ever saw anyone high on the weed that smiled.

maybe it was a weird method of curing that made mad potency as Ganabosey had said and not even a strain.

Silverback,

nice info. I think you are right, if it was a strain, it's a lost one. I think Dj would have it if anyone could get it. Doesnt sound like my kinda smoke anyway. lol potency isnt everything to me. I would rather have a nice euphoric happy high.

is it thee african black? or is it just some just a marketing name?

reef is full of it, as usual, for $180/ 10 seeds no less

I remember Black African Ganji back in the 70s. Definetly a curing process was resposible for the appearance and taste. Black, crumbly, moldy shit. Very, very stoney, narcotic herb.

I have heard certain mold adds its own 'high' to weed, but this is dangerous shit to play with.

Some have tried it and said it was something between shrooms & weed; while others had literally died from it, depending on the mold I guess.

S

stoned teacher

I feel like I got a few bags of this stuff (from a source that got one big bag) in 91-92.....
0 bag appeal, black tiny shakey buds if you could call them buds...maybe more shake...it's been so long....

I thought the guy that sold it to me called it monkeys balls or something like that..lol... but he was nowhere near high up on any food chain....
No weed has ever gotten me higher and closer to tripping . <-(period)..... fun weed that dominates whatever you were doing, not compliments it....

I just always felt that if this was anything at all like the shit I got back then, that everyone would be talking about it and growing it....I'd spend a lot to be growing that stuff out....

between me and the forums (the community that was rms till he flushed us)

stay away period.

I have never seen so many pics of green beans, bogus descriptions and hermies. Poor germ rates.

It sucks so bad because the 05 06 willie, lp1, apple pie, g13haze were absolutely wonderful, but he has lost many of his parentals and has some serious personal issues that make him give even less of a shit.

I mean you could chance it, but with those prices and what I know, he's alll washed up. sucks.

I wanted the pure burmese :( Instead, I guess I'll order it and try it from vancouver island seed co

sorry for the bad news

peace

I recently bought and ran the Harmony. It was my first run of RM seeds. It was ok and the stone was good. If I had spent 50$ for the beans, I would feel like I recieved a reasonable deal, but the $120 I had to spend makes me feel like i was screwed. I wont grow it again. It took 75 days to finish and there are many strains more potent that will finish sooner. Northern lights from Nirvana is better quality for 20 bucks. Sensi star for $75 blows it completely out of the water. The Harmony beans werernt even in the same league as ss.

thanks for your feedback, yep, he sure hypes Harmony like astronautical stuff.

Count your luck blessings they germinated & didn't hermie lol

Sensi Star - now your talking my kinda stuff :D

Paradise has a lot of good gear, kinda odd they don't have a forum here, i think they are missing out on a lot of publicity or whatever you'd call it.
