Pacific G13+DeepChunk X Grape Krush...workin on a painkiller strain!

Hi folks! I'm workin on an Indica dominant pain relief strain. The first half of the cross was worked up and backcrossed a few months ago (sorry no pix I just got my digi-camera). I took the widest leafed,stinkyest,frosty,branchy male of PG13 x DeepChunk and collected pollen. I made a small brush to crosspollenate 3 of my nicest inica dominant Grape Krush Ladys. To this time DJ Short has not to my knowledge released any info about the genetics in the GK...sorry! Right now the pollenated GK ladys are 42 days into flowering, the calaxes are swollen and some have started to split open showing the green seed inside.

I'm growing in soil useing this formula:

1 part organic potting soil
1 part Fox Farms Ocean blend
1 1/2 cup blood meal
1 1/2 cup bone meal
1 cup dolomite lyme

I'm feedin GH nutes ( yea I know it's designed for hydro)
2ml grow
8ml micro
16ml bloom
3 teaspoons Diamond Necter
1 teaspoon Blackstrap Molassas
Per gallon of water, this is feed every 3rd water cycle

I've added GH KoolBloom not that I'm into flowering stage at 1 teaspoon with the above feeding, it has an NPK value of 2-45-28

I've been growing for 30+ years mainly outdoors for the first 17 years and growing indoors for the last 13. I'll help where I can and learn what I can also.

The plant on the right is where I'll take my seed stock from to do the backcross to start to stabilize the strain into one phenotype. It smells like grape skittles, is the frostiest and has the larger bud sites. Heres a shot of the top

I'll be dropin temps to 55-59 lights out to see if she purps up and do smoke reports on this and future generations.

The red markings one low and one 4" higher were to make where I pollinated the popcorn buds, however, my fans blew the pollen around a bit so more spots were pollinated

nice looking plants you got there, can you elaborate on why you selected the strains you did for this painkiller strain? And what expectations do you have for it's offspring (other than pain relief)?

I've never bred my own strain, I'm still working on my first grow for flowers but I'm interested in one day trying to develop my own.

Hi greenpenguin, The Pacific G13 has an almost legendary background, worked up by the Cia or military?, grown in Tennesse Labs for medical testing? if there is any truth to these speculations!?!, it does have a very high levels of thc it's been said to have been tested up to 28% by weight. The DeepChunk is supposed to be almost a pure afghan hashplant again very potent the first cross was good on pain and on the coachlock side but taste was left wanting to skunk-pine so I'm crossing to the Grape Krush another high thc content strain to try to add to smell flavor taste color and keep the potency up.

I shooting for a colorful fragrent tasty powerful conassuier look 20-80 indica dominant stone that'll keep me from being completely stuck on the couch that will help with pain. I'll just have to wait and see what I get and then backcross to keep purps and stabilize to 1 or 2 phenotypes.

Theres alot of great info here on breeding and understanding the concept. GoodLuck with your grow!!!

I think the GK will do just fine keepin the potency value and uping the flav...then again I know shite bout breeding

Thanks for the kind works Don! Thats what I'm hopein for falvor flave and potench and some of the up end to keep me off the couch but to help with pain!

Day 53 into flowering and everything is looking good! I've increased the dose of GH KoolBloom addative to help the final flowering stage. The calaxs are swelling up nicely some are starting to split due to the increased seed growth.
I should get a nice seed count and still have plenty of smoke to try and do a report on. Heres a group shot

The trichs are really starting to build up and they look great under my cheapo Radio Shack $10 60-100 power scope. I'm gonna give em another week and start to drop my temps so they have a good shot at purpleing up.Some of the small top leaves are starting to change allready! Right now lights on temps are in the 78-80*f range and lights off temps are around 67-69*, so I'll drop em down to 66-68* lights on and 55-57* lights off. I've been running my lights at night due to the cold outdoors temps 46* day to 30* night and colder. I picked up a new dual element ceramic heater for around $49 thats heating the small room my closets in along with the closet.

Thanks for the kind words Bro Shame you haven't had the chance to try either, if you ever get the chance to grow em don't pass on em The purple traits should show up on em without havein to drop temps but I try to duplicate what they would have to go thru in nature if grown in my area, I think I'm also gonna start to back the lights on times back slowly to match as well!

Yea Pain Management is wantin to up my meds again and I'm so sick of the side affects, mainly takein all the stool softeners and eatin fiber till it's comein out my ears and still havein to try to pass BRICKS! My goal is to cut way back on the amount of meds I now have to use by breedin my own without the HEAVY COUCHLOCK!!!

If everything goes as planed I have a few friends in the same boat that I can get to test it for me, after I get it stabilized to 2 phenotypes and up to par I'll probably offer it on the auction, reasonable price and hi bean count. Now I'm thinkin to far ahead =P

Oh man, I know EXACTLY how you feel. Luckily for me, and thanks to cannabis, I have recently been able to get completely off of the methadone I was taking to help my pains at night. This was the main culprit to the above problems for me; the others I take don't have that same nasty effect on me (though I'm told they should).

I hear ya my friend, I don't know how you get to sleep on it, amoung other nasty side effects it kept my up at night, helped with the pain but I would keep wakein up all thru the night. Now the Doc wants to put me back on OC at a higher dose.

I've started thinkin of a name for the new strain, but I think I'll wait till I have a better ideaof the effects. I remember seeing a few nice ones scrawed on a club wall in the movie A Clockwork Orange!!!

Hey sticky seeds allready looking ripe for ya??? i did a littel test with some of my seeds from last round and the germ rates jump up the longer i let the seeds dry out just got 25 of 30 sourdiesel ibl f2 that i let sit in a cool place for about twelve weeks when i first tryed them at about a week old got 2 out of ten i think it helped to let them dry out a bit good luck brotha i will be stoping in offten peace brotha.

Time for another update, I've seen some others starting to post pix so I figure it's time for a try! The Grape Krush are at 64 days or 9 weeks from being flipped. I'm still seeing some new growth but not much so as soon as they get on the dry side I'll be starting my flush of PHed RO water only at 6.6 from here on out. Still no sign of purps in the buds but a few of the small leaves on the large feeders are showing color on the undersides!

Well uploads don't seem to be working, I'll just hold onto them till a later date!

Thanks thatguy123 !!! I guess some are hard to obtain because of cost, 10 Grape Krush seeds were $150. The Pacific G13 was backcrossed out of a hybrid and sent as a clone. Some breeders will only release a certain amount at a time to keep demand up. Tough question but a good one!
