People think that the topic is funny, because we're discussing weed. But for me, smoking skull-popping weed is the closest thing I have to a religion.
When someone like Reeferman, who strived to make landraces available to the general public, goes out of business while some gimmicky asshole like Arjan thrives, I have to call bullshit.
I guess in the end, people get what the masses want and right now the masses want boring, homogeneous weed.

I know what your saying DownSouthSage and it is hard to argue against some one calling for peace and love but I would counter with this point. Although greenhouse has some good plants and I think it is great that they went out to find new genetics to breed with I have problems with any man calling himself the king of anything. He was also very pompous when dealing with the locals and seemed to lack the real spirit of adventure. Who is the fool to wear the crown?

I gotcha there but everytime i see another bash post or thread i just shake my head and go jesus this is so far away from what twisting a good one and burning it down is all about to me!!And when i saw the king thing and the bobble head crap i thought what an idiot but the key word here is thought and let it go,but i understand there are a ton of people on here that are not 40 like myself and are closer to the 21,22,23 age and it makes all this greenhouse,shanti crap more appealing.

new growers have the right to know the truth about greenhouse bizness technik, we have the right to choose to who our money goes.....i will personnaly never buy greenhouse genetics cause iam against femenised seeds and i think they stole a majority of the genetics they have ( they are not the only one on the cannabis scene i know...)....they take strain name that already exist at others seedbank...ect....

IMO, GHS substitutes gimmicks for actual breeding to a large degree. I also have never heard of any the strains they carry actually resembling the real strains, ie Trainwreck and Cheese, so their preservation record is very poor.

Some people hate museums because they “stole” objects other people like them because they preserved them from ruin and they bring them closer to the public for educational purposes. To me there are two parts to the video. I think GH has gone totally commercial for the money. I really don’t like that but I understand it. Hey, it’s like what MTV did for music. Let us all join hands and pray that Greenhouse Seeds does not do for the worldwide cannabis genepool what MTV has done for music - drag it down to depths of banality and blandness previously unimagined.
They exist for basically the same reason, just different products. They both exist to turn a hefty buck slinging bullshit replicas of truly beautiful things to kids who are too young and ignorant to know the difference. And as a result of these bullshit replicas receiving the exposure to the masses that an MTV or a GHS can offer, they end up being accepted as the real thing by the masses. And a new generation is duped. I for one don't want my future medicine supply potentially contaminated by the genetic equivalent of the Spice Girls.
It's like the "heirloom tomatoes" you can get at the grocery store in January - big ass Brandywines and Cherokee Purples. Yeah, they look great, amazing in fact. But they taste like any other 59 cent-a-pound, picked green and injected with ethylene tomato unit - banal and bland. Wouldn't put one on your sandwich. That's where cannabis is already quickly heading, and will head uncontrollably soon unless people wake up and start adopting responsible breeding practices.
By the way, what ranking system is Arjan using to place Franco among the "top 10 smokers in the world"? Is there a sanctioned contest? Is it a Pro/Am invitational type event, or can anyone enter? What the fuck is that? Talk about overcompensating! Bragging about something that makes no sense and is impossible to quantify - it's like bragging about how many wolverines you shot in Alaska with a frickin' 12 gauge.

He seems like the kind of tasteless nouveau-riche dickhead who has his name stitched into the floormats of his Humvee, has his house decorated like the set of Caligula, and brags how much he paid for his girlfriends tits while he offers you cocaine from a little silver tray (and brags about that too).
Stay away from these guys work like poison. There are many conscientious and thoughtful breeders selecting for traits that mean very little to commercial-minded seedslingers like GHS. Don't believe the hype!

well all i know is he the so called king should not mess with the indigenous plants .the land races in other areas of the world.does he know that he could do more damage then any oil company could do .look at Mexico where indaca genetics have ruined the land race genetics that you can not get back. what a shame like we need more greedy ass holes making money off the poor .as long as he just breeds for his so called customers and not introduce his lame crosses back to the area wher he got the seeds then so be it .if he sends his stuff back to the tribes to mix with the land races then he needs to be hanged .

I've only seen the Moroccan vid, but it's not even close. The Moroccan vid was an excellent chronicle of hashish production, whereas "Strain Hunters" was a reality-show style piece of promotional garbage.
BTW, I'm glad you "got" my last post, I almost deleted it.

very humorous thread....Arjan is arrogant though and from what ive seen over the years since shanti left is 9/10 bad reports from people unlucky enough to be fooled into buying his gear. I would put the crosses ive made against his stuff anydays and im a hack...lol

That's what most of the weed and hydro industry breaks down to. People enjoy growing/smoking weed, but money doesn't hurt either.
With that said... I'd never buy any of their genes... I got way better cuts all around me.
