Wow . . . SFO even . . . yeah, it's been apparent to me for much time that we live in a police state. Probably had the misfortune of getting a first timer right outta the gate . . . . then things escalated.
Sounds similar to the beating I got in Italy. Hell man, they can hold you for a year there without bringing charges; so it coulda been worse! lol

Interesting read. I am more interested in why you were chosen. My wife was chosen once on a domestic flight they were just counting numbers and she was the number no real reason.
Was this what you think happened or did you smell like MJ? People often don’t think they smell but you do just like cigarette smokers it stays in your clothes. Even if you shower unless you were wearing clothes that were in plastic or never unpacked.
Given any thought of why? I have been to the Dam 3 times but always via Germany and never had a problem.

That's the best drama I've heard in a minute. Glad you made it out of there. Holding anything at an airport is just not worth the risk. Actually I'm not so surprised to hear this, just sorry you were unlucky. I don't even like to fly.

however, this was before 9/11...dunno if that makes a difference now or not
I'm afraid the way you acted, they simply put the number 7 down beside your name in the computer meaning highly suspicious...this could now easily happen to you again

If it did, were you the only person arriving in the USA on that flight coming into SFO who did that?
Was Amsterdam the only city you visited in the EU?
We sure would like to know what set them off in the first place.
I remember arriving at Newark NJ one time from Central Europe and I was watching customs. There were several of them in the corner of the immigration arrival room observing the passengers coming in. I watched as they pointed at a group of young long haired college aged kids who were grouped together. Of course, they immediately singled them out. I noted it with interest.
My advice is to drive to Amsterdam from central Europe. Let your itenerary show you entered the EU in central Europe and you departed from there too. Customs and Immigration will go nuts if they see the words "Amsterdam" anyhere. God help any vessel arriving directly from there cause they will tear it a new asshole going through it.

You are concentrating on why stasis was choosen. I dont understand you, guys. For me whats important of the story is in the USA, you dont have any civil right when you are at customs. They treat you like a criminal, just because they like to do so and can do it because nobody does anything about it.

To me it comes down to personality types. I would never apply for a job that required "looking up people's assholes" or imprisoning my fellow man. However, the kind of people looking for that type of power are the ones who are prone to abuse it. You were basically fucked with "because they can". Its sad, but that kind of treatment seems to be the price one pays to deal with air-travel these days. Sorry you were ran through the customs wash Stasis!
