CTSV

Hi, my name is CTSV, and I am a DVD addict (as well as a Strain addict, but that meeting is on Friday nights).

Who doesn't love a nice crooked doober, and a GOOD movie. I also like to watch my favorites over and over. Or have them on, but muted with the stereo on. My favorite genres include; westerns, kung fu, horror, drama, etc. Pretty much all of it. I really like buying the Pixar and Disney CGI stuff, like Kung Fu Panda and Ratatoullie, those movies are hilarious and visually impressive as well. Sling Blade is my favorite drama, HEAT is my favorite action, Big Lebowski comedy...

"Why do you have the t.v. and the stereo on?"
"Cause I like to party"

I am not even going to try and list them, but here is my collection.

sorry about the sideway pic, but you get the idea...

Oh yeah, that's right, Sex and the City on Bluray.... :pointlaug

I'm addicted to amazon & I own a thousand or so dvds. I use a Sony 400 cd/dvd player, I need a few more of them. I print out a dvd guide. I have dvds all around the house. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. series is just released.

Well it is a lot of dvd's but not much on the presentation.

I have hundreds of dvd's Most are away, I have watched them enough, but I made a deal with my gf, that I would store most of them away, and only keep 150 or so out at any given time. The spindle of dvd's contains about 75 recently downloaded movies, and I have about 2 binders of dvds as well, from "legal methods" of course.

I just can't bring myself to display an empty box. 400 DVD's in one player, the presentation is on the 46" Sammy LN-T4661F. LoL

42" aqous here.

Doc:How about that, new Rambo? Some gory shit, that movie was. I see you are a fellow Simpsons fan. I try to stay on top of the Simpsons releases, I enjoy hitting the "play all" feature, and going to sleep watching them. Hell yeah, some X-Files!!! I need to get some X-files seasons, and start watching them...It's been awhile.

It was between the Aquos & the Sammy, the Sammy won that one. I was always a Sony guy too.

Do you have the "touch of color"?

Consumer Reports, named Samsung the best buy on all sizes 20-58" LCD and Plasma.

Love some good war movies. Band of Brothers is fantastic, Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, Tora Tora Tora, Saving Private Ryan,etc...

I do not have "touch of color" it's a new feature, I've not heard of it anyways until now & find its the latest models. Mines around 2 years old now 2007, I have the no glare screen. I can't stand a shiny tv screen. If I have any issues with my 46" Sammy LN-T4661F it's the factory colour presets, they're totally useless.

Oh...fuck a whole bunch of shiny screens! My fist LCD had that, and I said never again. Didn't even think about it when I bought it. My aqous has a no glare screen. It's a must have. I believe the Touch of Color, is like a "aqous" or "bravia" type product line for Samsung. My buddy and dad both have them, great sets.

The new Rambo was pretty gory, I was not expecting it, so after having my son watch the first 3 to get to know Rambo, I got the Rambo 4 at Walmart and brought it home to watch, I got about 5 mins in, before I had to find something else to watch.

I have a 50 " Samsung, not sure of line, but it is only about 8 months old, I have no bluray yet, will get one probably after xmas sometime.

I am planning on rolling a fatty and watching Zack and Miri make a porno, in a few minutes, incidentally, I got a warning letter for downloading Quantum Of Solace, so if anybody is, watch for your letter from a lawyer.

I have a plan for downloading, I will pretty much download anything that comes out. I really cannot afford to be going to movies twice a week nor buying crap at the video store, so I download them, if I like them and can see myself watching it more than once, I will buy the DVD retail at full price. Today I will get Hancock and the Dark Knight, both I have downloaded, but because I enjoyed both, I will buy them. Other movies that I liked but I wont pay 20 odd for, I wait till they hit the 2 for 10 bin

I have not bought many non-blurays lately. Prices are falling on them, which is good, because 25 bucks each sucks. However, full 1080p is the way to watch a movie.

Rambo first blood part 2, was the pinnacle for Rambo, IMO. The most recent installment, was a little over the top imo. I like a gory movie, but it needs to make sense, like in House of 1000 corpses...you knew that movie would get wild. Rambo on the other hand, I wasn't really prepared for all the body parts and such. Didn't jive with the previous ones. I think the third one is funny, where Rambo is basically helping the Taliban. Funny how times change...

just to clue in a few folks here a shiny tv is plasma and the dull ones are lcd. lcds are better for rooms with higher sunlight exposure cause of less glare but if you have a semi dark room than a plasma is the best tv money can buy right now.

NO my LCD is a No glare the sister model LCD has a shiny screen. That was the selling feature for me. Plasmas are like looking through window panes & I won't own one. Now you too know. I always research before I purchase any tech equipment or post in forums.

46" Sammy LN-T4661F = No Glare

The LN-T4661F is Samsung's least-expensive 46-inch flat-panel LCD with 1080p native resolution for the 2007 model year. We recently reviewed another 46-inch 1080p LCD HDTV from Samsung, model LN-T4665F, so you may be wondering why we chose to review this one so soon afterward. The answer is shine. We complained about the 65F's shiny screen because it reflected lots of ambient light, acting more like a mirror than any TV screen we'd seen yet. The 61F's screen has the standard matte finish, which really cuts down on glare. But between the two, we did feel the LN-T4665F offered slightly better picture quality despite the shine (more on that below), making it a better choice for real home theater buffs and others with a lot of control over room lighting. On the other hand, the LN-T4661F should satisfy people who just can't stomach glare, and its picture quality, feature set and exterior design are still a cut above most LCDs on the market.

46" Sammy LN-T4665F = Glare
Samsung's shiny screen, which is the main reason why we didn't give the LN-T4665F our Editors' Choice award
