alll in all i think my fav part was when that med grower told lisa ling to squeeze one of those buds and feel her fingers afterwords....

she said its sticky...

and that stoned bastard with a glazed look in his eyes and half a smirk chuckles.."yeah, Sticky"

LOL....I have to concur...that might be the funniest part of that show...
My wife and I were watching...and that Mickey Rooney lookin' stoner with the big Canadian setup is prompting Ling to squeeze the buds.....

She looks all confused when he says "it's sticky...".....she says "yeah, it's sticky...what does that mean?".

You can see the total disconnect there....even if she has done some closet smoking...she clearly is no grower....and has absolutely no understanding whatsoever about the resin....LOL. You can see that there's so much significance for that stoner...but it just doesn't register in her brain at all..

Flash forward to her in the national parks of California...where they find a garden that's got plants a few weeks old in it....she asks "what stage of development" the plants are in....

Duh....you were just in a relatively large commercial grow op.....and you saw plants that towered above you with giant, sticky nugs....
Now you're out in the wilderness looking for plants that won't even reach your knee....
I'm no rocket scientist, but I'd think the difference would be apparent in the size alone....

Overall, not such a bad show. Emery was a big toolbag....and jeezus...did you see those large ass droopy dog bags under his eyes?!!?

All I can say is: that guy looks motherf*cking stoned!!! Let me get some of THAT weed! I'd like to have a job where I sat around on my ballsack all day smoking tubes of ganja with random broads to hit on...

I was really disappointed by this program -- it seemed to me to be a rather lightweight introduction to the pros and cons of Marijuana. NatGeo could have done a much better and more scientific program about MJ.

The could have started with an introduction to Cannabis Sativa and humanity's relationship with the plant for the past 10000 years, covering the uses of the plant, including rope, fiber, fabric and its religious/shamanistic/intoxicating effects.

I'm sure most of us on this forum are aware that in the US's colonial days, everyone grew Cannabis (for fiber) including George Washington. In the old west, cowboys on the trail laid hemp ropes around their campsites to keep snakes away (the hemp fiber irritates their skin). There was the "hemp for victory" campaign, there was the marijuna stamp act and refer madness, all before the modern 60's era "rediscovery" of cannabis by the counter-culture.

I don't recall them covering anything about the 3 basic types of plants: Sativa, Indica and Ruderalis. There was some mention of indica and sativa during the scenes in the medical shops in Cali, but I don't think they ever explained the difference.

They could have covered Marijuna's use as an intoxicant and compare it's use, dose and effects (both positive and negative) among other popular legal and illegal drugs, such as alcohol, nicotine, caffiene, cocaine, opiates and other pharmaceuticals.

They should have covered the criminal side of MJ smuggling, dealing and using better. How much MJ is imported into this country vs. grown locally? What criminal organizations are involved in imports and dealing, what kinds of profits are they suspected of making and what other crime, both violent and non-violent is associated with MJ smuggling? What are the punishments for possession of different amounts of MJ, and how many non-violent offenders are serving prison sentences for nothing more than having a few ounces?

In states that have MMJ laws, how hard is it to get a permit? For what conditions do doctors most commonly prescribe MMJ? How much peer-reviewed research is there on effective use of MMJ, and are researchers gaining any understanding of what chemical and biological mechanisms MJ triggers to effect treatment? What percentage of people who are prescribed MMJ actually have a condition that MJ helps, and how many just want to get high?

Sorry to rant on so long, but I just wasn't impressed with the program.

i thought it was good, but you must keep in mind its a us production so of course its going to have a negative sside to it... but they are getting better... if i told my rents about it and they watched it at their house and enjoyed it... then we are getting somewhere as a nation cause they normally hate everything to do with this stuff... i thought it was wonderful. cept for the whole dea they have guns to fight us with... if they were gonna fight you they'd still be at the plot... lol.

Good Day All! NG spent an entire day in my home shooting myself, husband , and garden 6 months ago. We were told our segment would appear and then we were informed last week it was on the cutting room floor. NG used photos of myself online to advertise the show, go figure. Now that I have read through dozens of opinions not having seen the show either, I must admit I am relieved we did not appear. Still feel honored to at least have my few photos online! Afghani Bullrider clones, and me trimming.

Why in the hell must that arrogant self-advertising fuck Marc Emery have to put himself into every god damn pot documentary?? And in every documentary he's hitting that same bong I would love to break. I used to try and defend the guy but get him out of here.
The documentary was generally dreadful and we heard the same old misconceptions and bullshit we normally hear. Not all of it was bad and I enjoyed some of it, but overall its the same rehashed shit that we see in any other pot documentary.

Thought it was a fair and balanced show. Though there were some idiotic points in it. Marc E. comment about his goal, I believe thats going to hurt the US in the long run. I'm sure there were alot of DEA agents watching the show last night.

Yeah Emery saying that jus taunt's the DEA even more into wanting ta get him. I think that's how his trouble with em started in the first place!. I don't think it was a good idea showing that huge grow op that was supposed ta be for jus 3 people. Even a person that knows nothing about pot would think that's bullshit. They're jus putting them selves into question.........

They should have cut Emory's babbling time in half or even less and given it to the Israeli's that had actual facts to support their opinions.

Yeah, that made me laugh my ass off, just goes to show how DEA are truly out of touch with actual law enforcement. Any cop knows that the most dangerous situations are traffic stops and domestic calls. These are tied for the biggest killers of cops in the nation.

This is why even local cops roll their eyes at the DEA. They're dipshits who think they are the creme de la creme of law enforcement, who would turn tail and run at the first sign of actual fights.

When was the last time you saw a DEA agent without an entire SWAT team in front of them?

Lisa Ling did a good job on this show. Compared to the other bullshit marijuana documentaries out there, I believe this one was good...

I saw it when it first aired. I'd give it a grade of maybe a C on the info they provided. It wasn't as in depth as it could have been. That part where she squeezed the nuggs on that plant was hilarious though haha

Caught the second showing.

Redardless of our opinions of how they should have explained, described, added, left out, etc. I think we can all agree it's amazing that the issue has gotten such a in depth, compared to common knowledge, description of things.

We're all growers here, so of COURSE we have our opinions on how things should have been explained. Bottom line anyone here could have done a better job and the producers could have all learned from our ideas. The show is basically about US for God's sake.

Sweet. I loved the time elapsed HD shots of the plant growing. The growroom in Canada costing 1.7 million to set up I think we all can agree is some impressive shit, regardless of our opinions of Marc Emery being invloved in introducing Nat Geo to the guy.

I bet the guy is ok. But I'm also not fully informed of the details of his case, and how he acted. I would smoke with him and decide.

Either way, the show was great IMO. Not because they were so dead on in their representation or the details, but they did a pretty good job conveying the general idea that marijuana is unjustly kept illegal by this government.

It needs to change. I feel like that last line about what the seeds could do and would you keep or throw them away is their way of logically posing the legalization or at least a step in the right direction.

I think it is stupid to say the show was good because it was not as bad as other crappy documentaries on cannabis...

so you get served with five different dishes of shit, and the one that tastes less shitty you call a fucking healthy meal? makes no sense.

i could make a better documentary in a week with a 200 dollar video camera and no crew

Well damnit, I set up my dvr to record the second airing of this, but when I went to watch it, it was nothing but an hour of "This channel is available for purchase/upgrade, please call xxx." Even if its a lousy documentary like some of you say, I'd still like to watch it. Anyone feel like torrenting or youtubing a video of this? Thanks

Most any member here could make a better documentary just showing their own garden.

How many documentaries air on nationally on a major network?

You don't think it's a good thing that many issues have been brought to light and the arguments have been established so people can decide for themselves?

What other documentaries are you talking about that are shit?

hello,

that natgeo show was not a documentary, it was just a piece of journalism/propaganda at best.

a documentary is a document on film that reflects facts, not opinions nor political stances.
the natgeo show did not prove itself to be a true document, it is not free from propaganda and badly informed opinions.
anyone who respects their own work would not allow bombastic and dangerous comments such as the ones made by the DEA to air
on their documentary, only a person who is not responsible nor serious does that. that alone tells me a lot behind the intentions of those that made that show.
now a lot of people are under the impression that guerrilla farmers are the most dangerous criminals around, do you think that is any positive when the fact is that it is a lie? how come a documentary allows lies in their final cut? :chin: sure, they spoke a few true things, but these get lost in a sea of either garbage information or an obvious lack of information.

so you give people a tv show full of lies mixed with truths and you expect it to be a fair point of reference for people to use to make up their own minds? no way jose.
