Spelling or OCD??

Anybody else here get all freakish about their spelling?? If write a post, then after posting it, notice I have a word misspelled...I will go back and change it-- I have even edited very old posts, because I notice a spelling error!!
I just thought of it was funny, since I just caught myself quoting someone...and I started fixing their spelling errors!! lol
Now I'm talking about my own compulsion...it doesn't bother me when other ppl misspell...just when I do...also, I know I use non-words, like "ppl" for people...but that is on purpose, and ok--

It gets on my nerves when people use "ppl" "u" and incorrect use of there, their, and they're.. And i have found myself correcting other people's spelling mistakes in quotes.. It is possibly mild OCD as i have other symptoms such as downloading way too much stuff and filling 1.5tb of hd in 5 months..

well i think my spelling and grammer are better than most....i had some good damn schools.

other than i dont use capital letters in forums, and i use tho instead of although...i know how to speak and type and all that so if i know how to do it right i feel like im allowed to do it wrong if i want.

Oh, I agree about the Internet spelling of words...like "ppl" (Sorry Capt lol!!)
I use them, and do creative punctuation....as I like my writing to read like I was talking-- (I don't know how I started using "--" instead of periods, and possibly excessive "..." ...but been doing it for 10 years--lol)

Hey yer alright, we all have our lil idiosyncrasies ( I looked it up lol ) to deal with. I cain't spell fer nothin! Folks still seem ta know what I'ma sayin tho. They think I'm dumber than a box of rocks, but they know what I'm sayin! lol You should feel lucky you only misspell, I -totally- leave words out somtimes, think about that fera minute, yup, box of rocks alright. lol ahh well life goes on. I am a proof reader myself. I like my shit to look neat. I do think it's funny that you are so anal about spelling but also use text lingo.

This one girl I know didn't proofread her paper about some election and spellcheck didn't catch it when she accidentally typed an r where the l should be because it was spelled correctly. So, everywhere throughout her paper it said erection instead of election!

but generally I don't mind if someone misspells a word or uses improper grammar as long as I can understand it and its not every single word. I have no room to complain I suck at spelling. Thankfully I have spell check on my browser otherwise I would misspell a lot more words. English was never my strong suit in school.

Even though I've had a stroke & it's tough to get it all right I do try to be correct in spelling and grammar. I never use a spell check program but I do catch most errors.

My intent in this thread was not to make anyone feel bad about their spelling...it was just a lighthearted look at my own idiosyncrasies, and wondering how many others have things about their own posting that they are anal about-- Not intended to put down anybody else, just taking a quick laugh at my own self, and maybe help a few others do the same--

For the most part I do try to type properly. If I developed a habit of using "u" and "r" in lieu of actual words, it might sneak its way into papers or letters. When I write a review for a film, a post in my blog, or a post on a forum I usually try to uphold my own standards for writing simply because they are permanent written works. When chatting on MSN or AIM, punctuation and capitalization of proper nouns are only considered when absolutely necessary when things wouldn't make sense otherwise.

Forums aren't exactly formal, but what you type is sometimes a reflection of what little we know about each other, albeit a very minor detail. So sometimes it irks me when I see "i noe i wuz jus drivin wen i get pullen over by sum dik pigfukin cop, its lyke, wat the fuk do i do 2 u? nuthin, sum ppl r just fukin lossers n fuk wit other ppl 2 make them feel better"

Or the fucking alternative caps, it doesn't make sense to put forth more effort than you need to in order to make yourself look like an asshole.
