Alright well in a couple weeks its thanksgiving and im a college student so im going home for the week. Unfortunately, though, i have to leave my babies :cuss: . This brings up the problem of watering. I have no one that will be around that i would trust to help me out. I plan on being gone for a total of 6 days and my babies are gonna need their water and vitamins. Currently i have 9 of them going under a 400w hps going on day 30 of 12/12 cycle: 3 in 3gal pots, 1 in 5gal pot, 5 in 1gal pots. Pretty much i water all of them everyday since they are all a little large for their pots :spank: , except the one in the 5gal which gets watered every other day. Ive looked into a couple of automatic stystems and the one one im looking into is the green genius on this page http://www.littlegreenhouse.com/accessory/mist2.shtml. Im thinking that im am going to get a big garbage can and take that thing and attach it to the bottom of the garbage can so it pumps water from the bottom. Im not sure about a couple of things. first being if that will even work and second if there is a better way to do this. Anyone have expierence with automatic watering systems or have any kind of input? thanks.

no one can help me? i refuse to believe all you bright people out there have no input. One of my friends sugguested just use a drip line but im not sure how well this will work with 9 decent size plants. i dont want things to head south in the event that it doesnt work because im halfway into flowering. any brainstorm ideas or 2 cents will do. thanks guys.

I say install float valves (purchase them at a farm supply store for automatic feeding), and hook up a water line or another reservoir placed higher above the float valve, and it will fill automatically.

Get a wick.Big cotton rope or something put 5 gal bucket water next to it run wick over.Should be able to get buy a week.

the tank with timer, pump, drippers, and some kind of drain system is a good way to deal with this, it is a bit of effort to get it and set it up, i was up to the same thing last june just to free up some time for a family camping trip, i went for a system that uses coco coir for the medium, it is intended to be watered daily and that solved the problem of root rot, if your useing soil with alot of perelite you'll be good, but you don't want soggy soil, so maybe less is better, for just a week it's to much trouble for this system but how about those self watering thingies they advertise on tv lately, you fill the globe part up with water and stick it in the planter and as the plant uses water it delivers, can't remember what there called, they look like they might work for you. jc

did you ever figure out what you are going to do?

im thinking of doing the same thing for about 10 days during xmas so i was wondering what you end up doing, and keep us posted if it is successful, good luck!

everything guys said water them before going on a trip and then setup a automatic watering system with micro drip irrigation to start the day after so you dont have to put up with a gigant tank.

things you need is waterpump at least 1000 liter per hourer , hoses , dripers , tank and a timer and your set to go ...
try out the system first ...
all these things you can buy at any hydro shop or DIY shop shop with garden products .
I bought my self a gardena set and it worked for me perfectly there is one more thing and thats presure reducer you put it before the dripers so you get equal pressaure .

you can add some hydroton pebbles to retain humidity in soil or perlite
