Organic SFV OGKush... DONE

very nice flowers there sir, here at home peeps dont blieve the long bloom cycle, now its easy to see why the price of og is hi. on top of that lack of yield leads to low supply and being one of the sickest strainz in the planet, a very hi demand. gotta give it up to swerve for releasing it out to the community to enjoy.

i just read your artical on flushing in HT....im sure we are well behind on the issues...you are probbly the best part of the mag....ive used sweetleaf before but i didnt keep track of the difference an i didnt know how carbs are used in the flush period, il use it again.... i understand it much better now

like subrob said CC.....WHAT TASTES BETTER "in your opinion" ???......SFV ....ChemD......FFA ???

i know they are all good in there own way, but im sure one will stand out as the best in taste.....maybe one is in demand more than the rest ??...that is my indicator of the best of the best

i bet you grew them into massive plants.....if you dont mind sayin..... how long did you veg and under what watt ??.....any idea of yeald too.....

i hear SFV is makin growers bankrupt....lol....they cant get enough of the taste but it comes at a price..."so i hear"

whats it like in the real world ??

Well I have to ask, what is SFV(San Fran Valley)?

San Fernando Valley.

Looks awesome. What percentage of amber trichomes did you have at 84 days? Does SFV have the longest flowering time for an OG cut?

I don't know... Not many actually. I don't go with the whole amber trichs thing because not all strains will turn amber uniformly. Apollo11 has a large percent of RED trichs even in early flower... at least the A11 I used to grow did. What I look for is swollen and cloudy trich heads... and that's when i use a microscope... which I rarely use. A flower is done budding when it's done budding... in other words, when there are only a few white hairs (pistils) hanging on for dear life, and the calyxes have swollen up to near the size of the plant's pre-flowers... it's done.

Pre flowers show up first, obviously, and so they get the longest time to ripen. Look at those pre flowers and you can see what size potential to expect from the rest of the calyxes, should you allow them the time to get that big.

Very nice weight on her! Is it swerves? I can never get a decent yield out of her. I'm all organic as well. Maybe I'll try a little bud booster next time. Anywayz....beautiful buds. They should be excellent nighty night meds for sure!

I have no clue if it's Swerve's. I thought this was a clone in the scene for a very long time, and I don't know who released it originally. If someone knows the history, I'd like to know it for a future article.

Nice job CC! I just finished up a sfv I had outside just for shits and giggles and it turned out awsome, but you got much nicer sized nugs. IF ya dont mind me asking, how much did ya get off of 1 plant?

Not dry yet. As a matter of fact, I gave her another day in the 12/12 room just because I haven't had a chance to harvest her. Looks like 3+ ounces though. Believe it or not, she looks like she'll yield above average. When plants get what they want for nutes, pH, lighting, air circulation, humidity, etc... they'll reward you amply. :) Even supposed light yielders have surprised me.

What tastes better??? For taste it's a tie between FFA and SFV, though Chem D isn't that far behind them. SFV has it for potency, though the other two aren't far behind. It's all relative... they're all perfect for what they are.

I veg them for about 3 weeks under 400watts of HPS light. More importantly than time in veg is height... I like to trigger my (normal stretching plants) at around 18-24". Of course, shorter, slower plants like Purple Urkle, Bubba Kush need to be vegged longer/taller before triggering. I like my plants to end up around 5 feet by harvest. Larger plants means smaller numbers of plants... which I do for legal reasons... and I like large, beefy plants. :)

Good growing man, cant wait till that family is more widely available. I got a good ECSD cutting, but thats the top of my"elites". LOL... Do got a nice Yeag's MTFxBlack Indica...quite nice.
Anyway, gorgeous plants man. Loved your article on the Chem. Straightened out a lotta folks on the ineage, which cut is what.

hay sog army......are you trying to say total organics is better than refined nutes like Canna Aqua......

id say no.....refined nutes kick the ass of all organic.....long live hydro....the taste is better too if you ask me....

so its all about preference, experence, progression, ethics, how i scratch my ball`s, id say my method is better but il scratch another way next week

im cool , your cool , we are the cool collective

Very kind words animal, and yes they are OMRI certified. I dont think the cannazyme is but its a great product. The owner at the shop I go to, said its the best nutes he has for a great taste, but the yield sucks.

Does the smell penetrate walls like ECSD or ChemD....would a large carbon scrubber be a necessity?
nice job CC, perfect growing:)

Awesomeness...

The buds looks A1 quality, so well flushed, great job. On the heavy flushing, it definitely makes the smoke smoother and better, and I truly love really well flushed buds, but have you ever noticed a reduction in smell and maybe taste? I have noticed that with particular plants Ive grown (and it may well be strain related) that the smell levels have died down a lot with the extended flush method, and the final product is not very smelly as it otherwise might be. This could be due to a nutrient limitation response, perhaps diverting metabolic flux from non essential pathways such as terpene production. Any thoughts?

On the nutrients, I have struggled with similar problems and I try different methods. I personally concluded organics are the way to go in general. I have settled on the organic bio-canna nutrients (for the moment) which are excellent quality and made from fermented plant extracts. I have had fantastic results, and its pH buffered due to the organic acid content, so the pH is rock solid and never needs adjusting, which is a big advantage IMO. I dont know that I would necessarily recommend the biocanna flower booster though, its quite expensive and looked very watered down to me compared with the other stuff which is really thick dark, almost syrupy. But yea, you should give biocanna a try sometime CC.

superb job CC. I have the OG in my lineup, along with the bubba... but I would have to say I can't wait to acquire the SFV. Nice Job once again.

This is why I feed 1-2 tsp maple syrup/gal (a plant carbohydrate) at the beginning of the flush... to give the plants energy to continue ripening and producing terpenes in the absence of nutrients. ;)

But even without the added carbs... in my experience the more nutes left in the plant... the stronger the plant smells. It's a fine line between too little and too much flushing, but I'd rather flush too much than too little ANY DAY.

One way I go about not flushing too much is to not flush too fast. I won't take my plants from 60 to 0 in one flush, I like to slowly step it down by feeding just plain water for the first week of flush. After a week of just plain water the plants should start to yellow (unless the soil is LOADED with nutes still). In the second week the plants get the full evacuation flush.

I recenty did a thread on a Chemdawg D that was flushed to the point of leaves falling off, but gave it maple syrup during flush... When you open the jar this weed is stored in, you have NO question that the smell is 100% in tact! hehehe

Great job CC, looking great as usual. Hmmmmm, instead of a pissing match over who has the best method growing weed it would be nice for people to open their minds to alternative methods. I'm not saying people should adopt other peoples styles if they are happy with what they are doing just that they should accept that there other people who are equally as happy with the way that they do things. There is more than one way to skin a cat..................
