Your First Plant/s...What was it?

My first were Female Seeds C99 and Grapefruit in 2006. I had to cut them a bit early due to moving countries, but absolutely loved the smell of them. My whole flat reeked obscenely of sweet ripe tropical fruits
I crossed them to Victory on the next occasion and since the crosses seem to smell like the mothers I always keep at least one in my garden. That sweet fruity/grapefruit smell has become my absolutely favorite ganja odor. I have some outdoors this year and am very pleased that they do well (and they are the best smoke from what I've had outdoors so far).
Actually the top speedy energizing party high that I experienced since starting growing came from a sativa pheno of that Grapefruit x Victory cross that a friend of mine grew. Here's a cut from that girl.

cali outdoor bag seed back when i was about 14. not much came of it (tasted like hay) but man did i have fun playing with those plants.

first indoor grow was superskunk and mendo purps. a world of difference

mines was Dutch Passion Orange Bud, this was only around 21/22 months ago so i remember it like it was yesterday,
grew it in Miricle Grow Compost [cue Jaws Music]
grew in a 30/35 litre container
using Ionic Nutes
bottle recommends feeding around 2/3ml litre or something(can't remember exactly)
i fed 7ml per litre and fed the plants this strength 3 times a day :jawdrop: ,
ended up with a 7 foot tree, leavesa all burned with about 8oz of that plant due to the huge feeding she was getting,
but with it being my 1st grow i was really happy with the results,
after that grow i discovered the Internet (thank god!)

Great thread! My first attempt at growing was back many years ago when I lived with my parents still, still a teenager even. I planted 2 seeds in pots and to my surprise they started to grow. Both got about 2-3 feet tall before my Dad made me get rid of them, never even flowered but did show their sex and to my great surprise both were female.

Anyway, several years later when me and my husband (boyfriend at the time) got our own place we got lucky and met a very expereinced grower. Our friend had good genetics from seeds smuggled back from a trip to Amsterdam. Our friend provided us with clones of Jack Herer and Afghani #1 of his Sensi Seed stock mothers. Also helped us set up a grown room with a hydroponic system. A homemade Ebb and Flow set up with a 6x6 flood tray, a 1000 watt HPS bulb, ballast and reflector, and hydro nutes. The friend helped us through that grow, 15 plants; 8 Jack and 7 Afghani. Harvested and ended up with 1-1.5 ounces dried per plant. Many more grows after that. Currently on a grow vacation but still to this day have access to cuts of Jack and 'ghani. Can't wait to get started again!!!

My first attempt at growing was back when I was in High school. A few friends we kept some seeds we found in some good bud planted them in teh hills behind out houses. Unfortunatly they all got solen and later found out it was solen by supposed friends of ours... That was where I learned lesson #1, tell no one... We all use to hang out at the same spot we were growing so it was inevitable that they were going to get stolen... I spent a whole summer reading and re-reading Ed R.'s book on growing.

My 1st sucessfull indoor grow was some of BOG's sourbubble been hooked on growing ever since.

3 years ago, i grew some lowryders outdoors (actually 70), of which about 90% didn't make it alive to finished product, i got 3 femmes totalling 1/2 oz of bud at best.



Either that or it was an indoor grow of lowryder x stuporsonic. I don't frankly remember which one I did first. Either way it was fantastic to smoke your own bud for the 1st time.

i cracked a pack of Jack Flash in November of 1999....some how i had the good sence to do it in coco.........what a wickid pheno i found by fluke...and its still about....ever since ive had no look finding keepers from seed....this JackFlash is Hazy/Skunky real tasty stuff.....14 weeks a killer tho

then i got NYCD in 01....NFT Hydro... 10weeks

in 06 i got cheese.......NFT Hydro ...9weeks

My first successful grow was in a closet in 1980 under 240 watts of shoplights. That was the first time that I had found out about the relationship of photo period to budding. Homegrown had a very bad rep in new england before that time. People (myself included) had been trying to grow pot which was virtually all sativas (mexi, jamacan, columbian) outdoors for years knowing nothing about budding and not knowing that those sativas could never finish outdoors up here anyhow. Most people harvested their plants at the beginning of Sept even though many hadn't even started to bud. With the introduction of afghani genetics weed could be finished outdoors as well as indoors even in the north.

Anyhow my first successful indoor grow was bagseed from some hawaiin I was getting in 1980. I was paying $55 a half zee which was an outrageous amount when columbo was selling for $40 an ounce but the hawaiin was totally worth it. It took me almost six months to grow that first one and I only got a quarter elbow but that is when I realized that you can not only grow good pot indoors but you can grow weed that is much better than is usually available through the usual channels.

In 2004 I had my first semi-successful grow, it was with a couple of random bag seeds out of my "keeper" collection (seeds found in pot I thought was good). I call it semi because I had no clue how to grow, I basically winged it. I was growing with temps that reached 140+ degrees farenheit, light leaks galore, no understanding of how to properly use ferts, and nanas like crazy.

To this day I still have a few of the seeds I found in the plants. Kind of as a memento of my origins.

I done something similar kept back from my 1st grow,
except it wasn't seeds, i kept a fan leaf from the Orange Bud,
still got it and it's still intact,
been keeping it in a Stone Roses record pressed in between the sleeve

My first grow was some seeds i got from a friend...it must have been hemp seeds or extremly inbreed...they were frightfuly slow and 3 plants did not even want to flower under 12 hr.
after that i orderd a pack of NL from nirvana...a HUGE difference

Back in 1976, I was 16 yrs. old, and grew a Columbian Gold female outdoors in Oregon. Just as it began to flower, it got ripped by surveyor's. A lot of unsuccessful grows in-between, due to security reasons (Military). Next I walked my sister into crossing a Puna bud male from HI., to a Cali skunk. I've never grown smoke, that had crystals, that encrusted buds, as much as this strain. The yeild was only 1/4 to 1/2 oz per plant due to infestation problems, but was still excellent smoke. The last of the seeds, I gave back to my sister who lost them. 2-Plant were grown under 2-4ft. floresent tubes. Today I use 400 watt HPS/CMH.

some mandala hashberry, mixed pack and sadhu in my closet under a 135 wat flouro.... didn't get a huge yield (like probly 1 oz off of 3 or 4 plants total) but it was sooooo dankk and delicious. First toke of that stuff was one of the most satisfying things I've ever done.

not sure of the exact numbers but high times had an ad for 5 dollars they would send you info on getting real deal mj seeds. sent it out month later got some lame flyer with names and addresses in amsterdam. Threw that out.

Friend finished up a bag of afghani he scored, had a single seed which he gave to me.

then another month goes by get another flyer from the bull dog cafe with actual ordering instructions and about a dozen strains. garlic bud almost made the pick but I got the sk1 and nl for maybe 20 bucks got my stuff in little ziplock baggies just like nowdays.

having just read mel franks books twice and high times exposure figured it was time to get to it. this was around 92 or so. mel franks/ed rosenthal was the shit pre internet.
