i am gonna push the limit man!!, ive got atleast 5 and 1/2 feet in there so theyll be veged until they get to about 4' and that the shortest one! i take clones for the next run and then flower. and yessir all 12 are SSH!!! and yeah that a both 400 MH and HPS.ARTofMAKINGfire said:

trust me when i tell you those beans are worth the effort!! the next run, i hope, is gonna be those ORANGE BUD clones i took. reason i say it like that is because, i have them in that bubbler and im usign a liquid rooting hormone. i normally use the powder.
i have been checking on them and the water. the water is fine, not cloudy at all, no algea growth or anything like that,BUT there is this "goop" that is forming around the tips where the roots would be shooting from.
i don't know if that what is supposed to look like or what? they are doing well though, i mean no signs of wilting, or anything like that, so im just gonna watch them and see what happens. the mom tops are also doing well in there except for that other one i was talking about in the last post, but it seemed to be on its way out anyway.
im keeping a sheet of notes this time,dates and all, so ill be able to keep up and log any crazy changes, and what really works from what doesnt.

i guess im totally more of a winter person it seems, as my luck does get a lil better around now with the grow.

i had to move some things around and get some more space where i keep my moms for those clones that eventually root and want/need to go into that dark period at times.
i took some cuts of the ORANGE BUD this time and did a soil run as far as medium. my lil bubble cloner setup really didnt do well at all, but i aint upset, i plays better in dirt anyway! and that hormone i bought from HD seemed to be crappy, but it was for soft wood plants.
i had some ROOTONE that i put to the way side. i used it in my first cloning endeavor and it seemed to have worked, so ive gotten back to that, and with quick results too.

i gave a friend one of my moms, and he was shocked at what he saw and realized that the advice i was giving was not to be taken lightly since they were fundamental. i always tell him "dont worry about the money, your a grower now, you have to worry more about the plant now!! once the plant is taken care of properly then all other things will follow, but the plants have to be prime!!"
i took some cuts the other day from the ORANGE BUD plant and the cut sites already responded to the cuts with increased foliage. real hearty plant i must say

was goin really friggin crazy with these damned timers!!!! i bought two of the $10 heavy duty timers from HD since they have always worked for me in the past, with my hydro projects and HID lights, why they weren't working this time, is something i just cant figure out.
i went to HD again and bought the heavy duty timer for the outdoors and it works like a charm. its like a block six strip with a timer to it, so it works perfectly for what i need.
ive got it set to a 16/8 schedule though. i figure/ hope that once they go from 18/6 in the mom section i have for them, they may show a lil boost when they are replanted and put under 16/8. i just wonder if that 2hr difference would actually, in fact, make a difference

*once rooted (or new growth is noticed) they are moved to the MOM sect. (aka the waiting platform)
*clones are dipped in powder rooting hormone, planted in 16oz beer cups and then cover with clear plastic cups (humidity domes)
*water with 1/2 strength super tea solution; no molasses
*mist the clear dome cups
VEGGING ROOTED CLONES:24/0 -->18/6
*once mature, as far as height, (let them get to about a foot tall if possible) they get transferred to flower cab
*once new growth has been noticed take clear dome cups off and let plants breath
*water with same weak solution BUT step up water time to every 2-3 days or AS NEEDED.
PRE-FLOWER VEGGING:18/6--->16/8
*plants get transferred from cups to 3gl containers
*this is done for about 2-3 weeks or until the plants reach a height relative to half the height of grow space
*water with 1/2 strength nutes after planting
FLOWER:16/8--->12/12
*plants "flowering" isnt noticeable until a week after 12/12 switch (pistil formation at node sights)

as compared to about 8 days ago before the 16/8 switch (10/8/08). . . .
here they are from the beginning from 9/26/08. . .
i may get them started on 12/12 on friday or saturday. i tried to take some close up shots, but every time i do i am reminded of how shitty my digi-cam is . . .
the shortest out of the 14 is about 13+" . . . . .
the tallest one about 22+" . . .

Hey Friend, I haven't seen you since your SSH grow. You've come a long way. Went back and checked out the end of that thread where you were building your scrubber. What is that metal sheet with the holes in it? Some kind of metal lath? Looks like a sturdy material and easy to work with. And the spray adhesive and filter material from an air filter - genius.
Those plants are growing like crazy. Good work on them and on your whole setup.

that mesh is from homedepot, and be damned you would ask me about it now (that i cant remember what the name of it is exactly lol!) i know its sold in sheets of 3x3 and is normally near the the air ducting section, it comes in different styles, but this one really was the easiest to work with. it was pricey (i think about $24+ or something like that) but well worth it. i alwasy said i wanted to make my parts so that they would last,and this thing is gonna last a long time!
glad you like the setup man, it was all pure dedication!! besides once i learned what i did from the last grow, i needed to explode this grow and teh many more to come.
the whole NYCD thing isnt going as i planned, but this ORANGE BUD i have would well make up for it!! this thing is really bustin' at the seams and needs to be cloned anyway.
***i think next time i wont include the strain in the title until i have a good one or at least three plants going, as popeye would say " this is so imbarisking!"

i just came outta there and the tallest is now 24" and the shortest is 15" !!! all i know is, im gonna keep on doin what im doin and do the 16/8 alot earlier and maybe even longer!!!

ok you guys have to forgive me for the pics, i had to take them in the dark, so my aim was a lil off.
i turned on my green light and saw that they could have used a lil space among them, so i decided to move them around a bit. . .
here is a closeup as best as i could get it . . . .
i took this shot because it think it best represents what kind of bud i can expect from this run, and this is on of the smaller ones. . ..
the tallest one has gotten to 27" and the shortest is 18". so it seems that im still gettin a descent growth rate. although i have both MH and HPS, ive got them under the HPS only for now. im thinking about giving them both spectrum's at the last two weeks. should make for a nice observation of trichome growth and densing up the buds aswell.. . . . i think

well i took another stab at taking clones, but i increased my odds this time by getting/ using the right and proper accouterments and viola here you have it. . .
i took about 15 of the ORANGE BUD that you see here in the left side of the tray. i gotta say once again that this is a hearty ass strain. . . . .
i think its about 12 or so SSH i got here. i honestly think you get more from a clone of this strain than you do from an actual plant flowered from seed. . . .
i was so fuckin pissed when i called the grow shop and wasnt able to speak to " my guy". instead the puttzy owner answered and he offered his help. so i heard what he had to say and wasnt impressed, so i went at it alone and used my stoner sense and intuition.
bought the 50 pc. bag of RAPIDROOTER plugs, used SUPERTHRIVE and the DYNAGROW:KLN rooting hormone i have and mixed to specs for a 1gl bottle. brought that plant into the kitchen and started hackin and slashin away and came away with what you see in the pics. used an old clone/ seedling tray i had layin around and there you have it.
my main goal was to just try and increase my cloning success rate, so i figured this was the best route. im sure this shit will work, just looking at how they are responding. there is a lot of humidity going on in there since i turned off the fan for that section, so the heat from the lights could build up to create the humidity necessary
so does anyone need a clone or two, ive got more than i need at this point and they are MORE THAN READY to get growin!! . . .
ill keep the post as regular as i can, but this is it for now

the most i can tell you is that they pretty much grows out like the GREEN HOUSE SEEDS version of SSH as far as i can tell. i really cant tell direct lineage since teh beans wer gifted to me, but comparing the SSH i have to other grows (like MR. NICE, or the famed CATPISS pheno) this one looks and behaves more like the one arjan and franco grew out.
i like this strain because it seems to stop at whatever height you start to flower them at and then gradually get bigger and fill out, and dont grow too much taller, even though its a sativa.
the high is a two for one as far as i can tell. it gets your mental going and allows you to flow during your tasks, but at the end there is definitely a couch lock that will put anyone to sleep or depending on how much of it you smoke, will just dumb you out. perfect for me!! since i work nights it helps out with the occasional insomnia that i get when i come home and cant get to sleep right away when i need to..
the clones that come from it are as sturdy as anything and i havent lost any lower leaves or branches yet!!! i was thinking about taking clones from them b4 i flipped 12/12 but the bottoms branches are so strong that i dont wanna miss out on any bud this grow!! lol im still trying to get a more stable cloning technique going but this is my third attempt. the methods are more conventional this time around and should do the trick.
