for them to be basically laying down? They are very flimsy and droopy so much that almost all of them are basically laying over. I followed JJ'scorpios guide exactly how it is laid out.

yeah that can happen, Just make sure that any vegetation is not touching anything wet, dont want some mold or mildew starting, they should pop up over the next little while

That's a bad sign. Usually I rail against domes but, you should try one quick.

It's all voodoo. What works for some is death for others. It this way doesn't work, there are plenty more to try.

no not at all your clones should be just as you cut em its normal for the to strech a little bit but . do you have a humidity dome on? what r the temps in the box?

50 clones...

Next morning:

Way too limp like they got too wet....not the rapid rooters as I squeezed all of them till you could only get a drop of water out...I misted them after I put them in and I think may be I misted too much. :fsu:

You guys all still agreeing too much misting now that you got pics to judge by?

Part of the problem is you have too much plant material. Without roots, plants can't transpire the water needed to survive. Thus the need for dangerously high RH levels.

Try keeping cuttings short and trim off excess leaf material.

Damn, your cuttings are deifnitely smaller than mine....

Should I go back and try to trim off more leaf or leavem be and see how it goes?

I don't know it would work with pre-wilted cuttings. It was a "next time" suggestion.

Again it's all Voodoo. Some say domes are mandatory, I say they're killers ... Just keep trying stuff. It can be frustrating, took me 5-6 tries to get a single survivor. Now, I can't remember the last time I lost one.

I cut my clones just like freezer does, I always trim the excess leaf material off.

I use dome but only for a day or two, just to keep humidity high in there.

roots in 5 days?? no its not a joke

i clone in 3oz cups of perlite with a drop of super thrive watered into each cup(all the cups have drain holds in the bottom) then i put 15 of thos cups in a clear box with a lid and i pour 1/2" of 10 drops superthrive/gallon in the bottom and put it under my cfl's now i beleave that this is the key to my style every day i open the box for a few min then i tak as deep a breath as i can and hold it as long as i can and blow it in the box then close the lid i keep my clones small 1/2"-1.5" and trim the leafs down i keep the lid snaped down for 3 days 4th day sit it on top of the box 5th day put sumthin under each end to hold it up about 1/2" off the top of the box then the clones come out that night

i have also gotten roots in 6 days by cutting a 1 liter bottle in half (no drainage holes) put perlite in the bottom and follow the above style i have done clones from 1"-6" in the bottles the bottles are just nicer to do if you have just 1 or 2 plants

but the only strain iv cloned has been nl and bag seeds and nl is knowin for fast rooting of clone even tho i got same root times out of all my plants i will be honest my first set of clones rooted in sum 14 sum 21 days then the second set was sum 7 and sum 10 then the third set i go it to 5 and 6 then every set of clones scence then has been roots in 5 days

every person just needs to find sumthing that works for them and this is what works for me i buy my stuff once then i dont hat to buy anything else for a long time i just wash off my perlite in a strainer with boiling hot water let it sit and dry for a night then clones back in it the next day

I had the wilting problem when I didn't put clones directly in a cup of water after I cut them. If you don't get the cut stem somewhere moist it'll lose a lot of water, and I think it's a lot easier for them to lose water than gain it when there's an open wound.

iv noticed the same thing i allwaz tak 1 cut put it in the cup tak another put it in the cup it is more time consuming but i beleave its worth the time it takes
thats true willow water has a cloging agent in it that makes the cuts heal faster that same agent is in aspren but idk what the ratio would be

There is no reason to have to squeeze out all the water from the rapid rooters....

rapid rooters work well as a wick.... with the bottoms in water.....

The problem is that they are too dry .... not too wet....

plants like wet...not dry....

Just make em smaller and they wont wilt. I know some other helpful members suggested this just want to say they are bang on.

agree 100% i live where my RH is 20% or less most of the yr if i use a dome they die i use a DYI clone bubbler no pucks for me i had 70-75% sucess witht hem. the bubbler gives me 99-100% sucess every now and then i'll have a cut die. now i've had cuts wilt like that but after few hrs they stand tall maybe you had to much RH with the dome on

They are actually making a comeback I think....

I put a teaspoon of water in the rapid rooters and misted them this morning and I came back to some of them up and some them still side ways, but with hard stems now at least...Hopefully if they live they straighten out a bit lol...I'll update the thread in a couple of days and let you guys know. I think the rapid rooters were actually too dry and my misting them too much putting them in just weighed them down when they went weak...just an assumption right now though. I also trimmed off a bunch fo excess stuff...

ok well goodluck with this and all future clones

how much dus it cost you to keep that rapid rooter goin im talkin replacment plugs and stuff?
