LOL.. I'd go "setup" a savings account and get a proper amount of money first, cause there is no "bad ass" setup to be found for that kind of money.

You could get a 400w light with ballast and hood and a 4 or 6'' inline fan to cool it at HTGsupply.com for about 350 with shipping. You still need pots/growbags, medium of some kind, nutrients, odor control, ducting, tape, etc etc etc.. So yeah you can't even afford a small setup at the cheapest store without say 2x the loot.

theres a guy pullin a qp with 4x45watt cfls in 2 rubbermaid containers stacked ontop of one another so go to walmart and get the BIG ass storage rubbermaids...as a matter of fact get 2 of em and hook em both up seperatley to run 12 45 watt cfls the light will cost about 200-240 and the 2 rubbermaids will cost you 30 bucks hooke both up to one inline fan with 6 inch ducting blowing through a scrubber thats about 300 there if you go with the basic inlines from homededepot, either run a SOG with party cups or a SCROG and you should get a decent yeild 2 bags of soil should do it and also shoot for basic bloom fert I.E fish emulsion and molasses cut down a coulpe light if you wanna save money get a digi thermo for the cab and BANG basic yet effective runnin a sog i could see potentially better numbers i just thought of this on the thought pretty bag ass for 400 i think on and prolly like 8 99cent cans of flat white spraypaint to.....shit i might build acouple of these to the rubber maids i talkin about are about 5ft long 2.5 feet wide and 2.5 feet high if the temp ar kept in check its golden=) hope i could help and its not to cofusing im kinda just a lil high lol

Get a digital 600 with a cooltube reflector, you can have em built cheap about $270 from mdhydro.com.Then spend the rest on a 550 cfm fan,i prefer comair rotron caravel model p/n cl2t2 .About 30 bucks used on ebay ,and cheaper than any blower. Then take whats left and buy or build a carbon scrubber...Thats how i would spend $400.Get the 600 instead of 400 cause you will just want it later.

Save up more for possible cooling stuff and ducts.

$400 isn't very much but you can get a start with something like that. Here is what I am doing with less then that but it is a simple inexpensive grow for the winter I normally grow outside. I live in south cali so I do not have extreme winters we get frost but nothing major. That said I am planing on growing on my balcony but this set up would work inside. I am using autoflowering strains Diesel Ryder and Auto AK47 10 of each ran me about $100.
I picked up a smaill 4 shelved greenhouse $40 (the shelves are adjustable/removeable so I'll be using only two of the shelves.
6 flood light holders $24 (I have some other fixtures around the house that I will also be using)
10 23 watt 6500k CFL $45
10- 10 inch pots $15

I got Perfect Soil from walmart plus a bag of earthworm casings and perlite that all was maybe $50

By theory I should be harvesting around Christmas.
2 mylar emergency blankets which I will use on three sides of the gh.

small investment small return. of course you could go and buy some "grolights" from wallmart and some potting soil and emergency blankets and every thing you need to finish your plants, but its simply not a lot to start with if you want any badass results. 400 is the price of one ounce. invest.you need to spend money to make .....

anything. :joint:

Wow, lots of negativity...

Lighting - $100 (Anything from CFLs to 250w, maybe even 400w HPS would work for your situation)
Cabinet - $100
Inline Fan - $120
DIY Carbon Filter - $50
A couple bricks of coco - $5
GH Micro and Bloom - $20

Prices are pretty rough, off the top of my head, but go and find some prices for that stuff and I'll bet it's $400 or less. No matter what these people say, you get yourself the stuff on that list and you can grow as badass as you want, depending on if you're willing to put the time in to learn what you're doing.

Lol that's funny. I've been trying to sell a real nice setup for $300 (i'm moving), and haven't even been getting any serious offers. I'm talking about a 1000 watt aircooled hps, with a 435 cfm inline fan, and a custom 4x4x8' wooden box. Am I asking too much? Seems like you can't get anything close to that for $300 as far as I can see. Anyway lol, just venting. Peace.

Dr. Bloom - I'd personally never buy something from a private seller, no matter how good the deal. And with a deal that good, I'd be almost sure it was something shady. Is it worth $300? Definitely.

Plus that is a bit expensive. I can get a brand new, nice 1k equipment (XtraSun ballast, Hortilux bulb, SuperSun 2 hood) for under $275 w/o the fan & box.

Well that's the thing, i'm not just trying to sell the light. That i'd only ask 100 or so for. It's the fan and box that add that extra cost. Since I just built the box and bought the fan, I really don't want to just throw the money away. Wish I didn't have to move.

Bounty: I'm totally with you man, although i've had good luck buying stuff off craigslist. Helps that i'm in Cali and have a med card, makes me worry about it less.
