HydroLEDs MicroGrow!

Greetings people!!!

Well... here I am to show you a little project that promises some revolution on the indoor growing. Is about a little hydroponic system (DWC) into a micro grow with LEDs-only ilumination! As you must know, the LEDs presents a lot of advantages, amongst them we can detach

- Low consumption of energy;
- 50.000 to 100.000 hours of useful life;
- It emits practically 100% of pure color;
- Do not generate heat;
- Etc...

SETUP:

Strains: Only 2 plants: BlueHash (Blueberry x Hashplant) of Dinafem 100% female; Marroc vs Afghani (Nirvana) VS. PowerChronic (Powerplant x Chronic).

Box: 70cm of height, 65cm of width, 27cm of depth (VERY small, as you can see). Mylar as wall's reflector.

Ilumination: SELF MADE 4 panels containing 120 LEDs each one (480 total), that are 20% blue and 80% red. Two of them uses PowerLEDs (the red have 80.000mcd and the blue 50.000mcd) and two with normal LEDs (without datasheet, but it is very weakker than the Power ones), all with 10mm. Photoperiod is 18/6 on vegetative and, of sure, 12/12 on floration.

Ventilation: Two 120x120mm totally silent fans (it don't need to be very strong, because i am using a little grow with LEDs wich won't heat).

Reservoir: Little box with 5 liters of water, with 1 air pump and a thermometer for the water.

Hydroponic solution: National salts (Brazilian), following a friend's formula. Totally changed twice a month. Mineral water is used.

Pots: Small net pots with expanded clay and a little block of phenolic foam (an alternative for rockwool).

Temperature and humidity: In this cold days, the temperature on growbox is about 22 to 25˚C, and 17 to 21˚C on the water solution; humidity is about 55 to 70%.

Check out his gallery. Best looking LED setup I've seen on here so far, I'm curious to see what kind of buds you can get! :wave:

now you can link them directly

very nice setup by the way, it should improve penetration that is the weak point of leds.

i love hanna products... very reliable and easy to calibrate.

be sure to get calibration solution, and store the electrodes in water... they make a storage solution, will extend the life of the meter.

Hello guys... some new pics to show you the plant's development

The "Marroc vs. afghan X PowerChronic" didn't germinate, so I am only with the BlueHash, that was placed into the phenolic foam on 09/01. So this plant have almost 20 days of growing:

Now with a thermometer to meter the water solution. In the coldest days and with the fans turned on, the temperature go up to 16˚C. Is it very cold?

Look how healthful are our ladie with almost 20 days:

well we all know for veg. state plants only requires so much for it to grow but lets see what happens in flowering. im lookin foward to seeing your progress keep thoses pics coming =)

yeah and other thing we all know is the efficiency of LEDs for the vegetative stage.

look this plants under a 105 watts LED system, they look great:

the weak point of the LEDs i am using is their angle of light opening that is 45˚, what force me to place the LEDs in a considerable distance from the plant's tops, because I need an homogeneous area of light, not dots of light on the plants. I have some Prolight LEDs of 1watt each (10 red, 5 blue), but I don't know how to make a circuit for this kind of LED. See:

Prolight 1W LED (3v, 650mA, 1W):

hey guys... i discovered that my phmeter is not very well...
In my informal survey of IC and other forums, I determined that pH pens are a complete crapshoot. Of the major brands Oakton sucked the least followed by Milwakee with Hanna scaping up the bottom of the barrel.

I stuck to my $5 aquarium test drop kit.

I'm right there with you, had a pen work reliably for a bit only to start throwing off readings that were progressively getting worse, sooo my pH was completely screwed for a few weeks.

I now have 3 pH meters and am getting a drop kit as well, minimum double redundancy when I do my checkups.

How much do each individual LED cost, and are they wired in series?

Cool stuff, I could see this being an excellent Mum/Clone chamber for myself.

+1 on the Aquarium PH tester, all I have ever used.
