PS: No college tommorow... cancelled because of the hurricane so maybe I'll finish my room. I still need to install the 250w HPS, 175cfm inline, and carbon filter. Then I'm all set to grow some buds stealthily.

Incase you missed my last post, here's the front of my grow dresser:

I've done a lot of work on it and finished the veg room. (Yes I know I need to get different color CFLS... that's all I had to test the fixture.)

What I have done in the Flowerin' Room:

What's goin' in there:

Sucks to be south of Big D I guess. We've had some beautiful weather up here. Nice and cool :(. Unfortunate ya'll have to take a hurricane for us to have decent weather but if that's what it takes.....:)

It's this dresser from Target: Here For $150

Each chamber is 2 feet wide, 15inches deep, 2 feet tall.

The front doesn't open. I used panda plastic and white duct tape to seal everything. I made 2 doors on the back of the dresser using nails, duct tape, and velcro.

I have 6 black 2" PVC elbows and extender for ventilation. 3 under the left chamber for the intake, and 3 to take air to the other chamber.

I will have a 175cfm inline fan kicking air out the backside, along with a carbon filter, and 250 watts of HPS. All of that in the left chamber. Unfortunately, UPS didn't deliver them today because of the hurricane.

I finished the left side of the dresser last night including putting in the scrog screen. I'm just waiting on the fan/scrubber/light. I'll get them monday and hopefully my seeds will be germed by then~!

Thanks for your interest... I've been dying to talk to someone about it. I just want to scream it down the street.. like "COME CHECK THIS OUT!" haha... but no, I don't think that will be a good idea. :spank:

peace

EDIT: I painted it with a textured stone spray paint so it matched furniture/paint in my room. It came out really well. I also plan to add an aquarium on top to cover up fan noise. So it should be pretty stealthy.

Yeah I'm still here. I had some friends over last night... we got wasted and watched the cane come in and leave. No power outage here, but there is a lot of water in my backyard. No trees down or anything... I live in a new neighborhood, no one has any big trees. I'm good though.. just watchin' some football on HD. :joint:

Good Luck down there with Hurricaine Ike.....I have many relatives on the Texas Gulf Coast. One of the Biggest damn hurricaines I have yet to see. Houston/Galveston has not had a bad one since 83 and I was there in that one and lost my elecric for 10 days. Should help the N.E Texas drought though as much of our weed here comes from where the drought has been recently.

I have a couple possible solutions for you...

The most practical is to put your plants by a window people don't walk by/can't see. If you don't have a window that people can't see, fix the blinds so light comes in but people can't see.

Option 2: A LED flashlight and a lot of batteries.

EDIT: Are you in hydro or soil?

Can you totally grow with good southern window light Bush Grower??
I live in a 3rd story condo that is owned by my family and have a very sunny lanau that is facing a wall of windows south. Nobody can see directly in my windows unless someone gets up on a ladder. OR would I need some lighting to supplement it.
I have never grown before, but have been posting and lurking on weed boards to learn as my state will prolly never have MMJ in my lifetime. Nor Texas either as that is my family and home state actually. I am a misplaced Texan stuck in Florida
[military widow] because I can't bear to live without the kids and grandkids who settled here...

But I am tired of payin' the high prices and want to grow for personal use and possibly for my HIV patients.
that I follow....
Will be doin' it in soil so I am gatherin' supplies and a PH meter I know I need. I don't have a green thumb even though I come from a long line of farmers in NE Texas.....soooo I hope it is in my genes at least...LOL!!!!
But I am a disbled RN here who is working with other retired/disabled medical professionals to get our state legalized. I live near the govenors condo in the "BURG" and he admits smokin' pot in his life.....but won't get behind our movement because it is political suicide in the REPUB party......

SOOOO since he is not goin' to be McCain's VP.....maybe he will be more receptive to the idea of legal MMJ.....WE HOPE!!!! OF COURSE he won't even come out that he is gay.....soooo we don't expect his help in our cause.
Damn Charlie be honest and less politician baby!!!!

PS.....back on subject....does LED lights help??????
I have a OTT light I use in my art and sewing and am wondering if that will help.
I could get HPS.....but they have been busting grow houses here from the electric bills increasing. And even TAKING THEIR CHILDREN FROM THEM.......our laws have tightened recently on grow houses.......
My light bill this month is $283 this month already and just 2 people live here.

BUT nice to see a Texas grower section....and kindred spirit Texans......and if ever at Disneyworld stop by for a toke.....any tips will be appreciated. :kissass:

I am currently without electricity here in Houston. I run my generator maybe 6 hours/day and keep floros on my crop.

Cannabis needs full sun to do well. For a small grow (maybe 6 plants) a 400 watt HPS does well for me. The problem is the heat. If Florida is as hot as Texas, it really screws up your AC. I try to get in 2 1000 grows per year during the winter months.

Electric bills such as yours should not be a problem. The utilities are looking for the 4000 plus watt grows. It they busted every grower with a back bedroom full of weed, they would jail thousands of us.

I say grow grow grow. If they want to put my ass in jail, come get me. I am 65 years old and retired. I hear the food in the lockup is not all that bad.

Yeahh.

You can grow mary jane in a window, but it will be lanky. I was just suggesting that to keep his plants alive while the power is out though. I wouldn't suggest growing in a window.

I agree not to worry about power, just watch your power usage in other areas and there might not even be a difference in your bill. Search for the power saving thread on here, it has a lot of ways to save.

First time back online since 2:30 am Saturday and we have been without power until today about 3:30 pm. Man I gotta tell ya never again. I am about 20 miles straight south of Houston. I am 50 years old and I grew up in Florida for 22 years, seen many a cane. Been in Texas for 28 years. This thing shook my house like nothing I've ever seen and I live in a brick home. I lost most of my shingles and gutters and about 300 feet of 8 foot privacy fence. Pretty lucky really. Scared me and I'm fearless, lol. I had my barometer out and just watched it plunge as my ears popped for about 3-4 hours. I got 941 mbar here on my pos Sunbeam, probably not right, I dunno. From talking to some friends I estimate we were 10-15 miles due west of the eyewall. It was intense. My 4 cats were terrified and followed me everywhere I went, lol.

growDaddy.....Looks like you have your girls dialed in.....Looking much better.......Keep it green and stay safe

well the power is still out and i havent even been able to see my girls since there located at another house. My buddies who live there went to some one elses house who has power so i think this the 2-3 day in a row with out power. how much time do i have before these girls die if i dont get them light ?

Carl.. Sorry to hear about your house, that is no good.

Growdaddy.. Nice lookin' plants!

Thedankage.. I'm not sure exactly how long. There's a good chance they could die soon.. I don't think it takes too long. Get over there ASAP and figure out some way to get them light.

I've had a bad day... all of these are in no particular order :badday:

I spilt coffee all over myself on my way out the door for school... had to clean all that up and change clothes.

I have this math teacher that doesn't know how to teach and we have a test wednesday. I'm going to do pretty horrible and I can't afford to.

I got the fan, scrubber, and hps in for my stealth growbox, and the fan/scrubber don't fit inside the cabinet after you hook everything up. Also, the fan is loud as hell.

I used white duct tape to seal and put on the panda plastic in the cabinet, and now it's all falling all over the place and it's not sticking, thus making the box useless as it's a huge firehazard with any lights on with plastic falling off the walls everywhere. I will have redo eveything using aluminum duct tape.

I have been busy studying and never planted those seeds I was germinating. I went to plant them today and they had already popped in the paper towel. I guess they got some light and the cotelydon leaves were already grown. So I went ahead and planted them with the leaves above the soil, but it's doubtful they'll live.

What else can happen man.. I have 3 tests this week too so I need to study and don't have time to fix everything. I hope nothing else goes wrong tonight. I think I'm skipping my night class to study.
