It's all good, SMF. Your words weren't disapproving, and we're all potheads here! I've hit so many wrong buttons and deleted shit, posted shit I didn't mean to, and so on.

STS, looking good, man! Hope you didn't get too much rain! Looks like I only got like 3 inches or so, so I'm OK.

Keeping my fingers crossed for everybody!

All the best,
TG

Hope everyone's doing alright after the TS. Looks like we only got about 3" too so I think the girls should be fine but I'll have to go check tomorrow. Just happy there weren't any major winds.

When do you guys suspect the first frost will be in the northeast? (Primarily CT.)

I have read on a bunch of farming guide sites that the beginning of October is the average first frost.

That's true, KronTToP, but plants will survive light frosts. Just got to watch out for the "killer" frost, when temps get into the low 20's.

I only got about 3" too. My PP is now blown over @ a 45 degree angle w/ no fan leaves left. Glad I staked her.

Good one on your stepdad, smf! :D:yes: and good one on you for hitting the wrong button, lol! :bashhead:

sts, looking good! You too tg! :D:yes:

I brought my mag. glass when I went out today. We really lucked out, storm really cleared out, nice day w/ a good breeze drying everything!
The trichs are cloudy, w/ hardly any amber. Hope I can take her 2 more wks, as that's when I harvested my '05 PP. What sucks is, one whole branch is covered w/ weed seed. PITA picking that shit off, need tweezers. :cuss:
Check the one seed @ the btm of the last pic.

My understanding is that any frost will reduce the amount of THC in the buds, but yes, only a serious frost will actually kill the plants.

KronTToP, it all depends on whether you're near the sound, the Litchfield hills, down in the CT river valley, etc. I'd say anywhere from the 1st through the 3rd week in Oct.

The hills will get it first, and the sound last.

My fingers are crossed for everyone hit by Hanna! My buddy found some bud rot yesterday, so watch out!

Still looking good, HL! Tweezing buds doesn't sound like fun :(

All the best,
TG

STS..Looking sweet.Your buds seem fairly mature too..very nice.

HL..My whole back field is full of those weed seeds. My Cheese x DP is now Cheese x DP x weed seed..lol..I'm not going to worry about it right now..Hopefully the next rain takes care of most of them.
My girls faired well.Didn't lose any plants.I did have some repair to do to two blueberries. The plants are tall and a couple branches were blow over but still well attached.
I found some mold today too on a TTimewarp x PPineberry. This is an awesome cross by Black Bart.Easy, easy keeper and boy does she blow up after the fifth week..WOW!! She easily doubled the girth of all her buds.Unfortunately she gets a bit of shade in her spot. The sun isn't full bore until 10:30-11:00.That can make a big difference when they're getting towards the end?? next yr i will top this one to make the buds a bit smaller.
If anyone wants a good outdoor strain you don't hear about everyday and is reaSONABLY priced I suggest JWeed's NL99.Primo,early,easy keeping, high yielder..peace

Hey thanks buddle. :joint: Sorry to hear about the blueberry, I've yet to go check on the ladies yet but I'll be headed down soon with fingers crosses.

And where did you find the nl99 I like the sound of that as long as mold resistance is good.

Your post made me think that we should have this be somewhat of a strain guide for new england outdoors. The info is there in this thread on what people have done and the results but you have to search through the whole thread to find it. Maybe we could make an organized one as its own thread or something similar? :kos: :smoke: Or perhaps just start making our own NE crosses heh. I certainly will be next year.

:violin: Wah, wah, wah, sts, "so much reading",- dats how ya learn! :bashhead:

I'm just joshin' wid ya! :biglaugh: I have a compilation from the N.E. OG thread of what worked for folks posted on page 18. click here: N.E OG comp.

Also, you can check the sept/oct posts for '06 & '07 in this thread. Maybe repost it all on the upcoming page 50 here, for easy reference?

IT"S THAT TIME OF YEAR! :jump:

Lol HL, I was thinking of it as a reference for others or those who are new to the outdoors. Personally I've read through this entire thread more times than I can remember heh. Same thing for this entire site pretty much :joint:.

I did forget about your stuff from the OG thread there though, thanks for posting that up, very useful. I wish that on was still up because there was a whole lot of good info in there.

Took a gander through that list on pg 18, and I think it's time to do another one!!!

There are definitely some new strains that are great for our OD climate.

Like my Frisian Dew, for instance. One pheno is crap, fluffy as hell, herm tendencies, and an auto. But the other pheno is something else! It's the only pant I have OD that has gotten NO PM at all, it's dense as hell, and it smells like pink lemonade freezer pops!

So what's good with a New England OD strainguide?

All the best,
TG

thatguy, i'm curious how your Frisian Dew finishes up. I almost bought some for this year.

It's getting close to the finish. I just wish we had a longer season, because i would love to grow some big ass sativas. Well, here are some of my plants i have outside.

Another good one for me this year is Cannabiogens Sugarloaf. She was my earliest flowerer.Nice sativa buds.Running calyxes. She's in a 15 gal pot(either 10 or 15,forget which). She's maybe 30" tall and I'm guessing will yield at least a QP.Four colas and a couple 6-8" side colas.Thin leaves, lots of resin.Just like the breeders pic.
STS--It is my feeling these are both excellent NE choices..Mostly because of their sativa type buds.Instead of the thick indica buds that are real tight to the mainstem these tend to be a massive collection of running calyxes that have more open space for air movement.I'll see about getting some close up pics.I will also be able to tell after harvest if these girls have deceived me in the prospective yield dept...but as of now..I don't think they will.
TG..Glad your girls are doing well..
HL..When will the Purple Peace come down? iS SHE SPICY? She's almost too pretty to smoke.........almost
CC...Nice plants.HL is the expert on which sativas will work in NE..If you can find the SSH romulator cut(its the 9.5 wk) She'll not only finish, she's pretty to look at and stoney to smoke..peace

Dayum, get ready for some fall temps folks. It's going to dip into the thirties later this week (away from the coast).

glad to see people posting some beautiful pics! I went to check on my white russians today only to stumble upon a couple plants turning black and moldy :badday:
I am not that disappointed because it was my first true outdoor grow and I learned a whole lot! Even my early days of indoor growing werent so friendly to me but I managed to figure that out so I do have high hopes for the future outdoor seasons.

Stay Safe and good luck everyone.

BIG FROST

BIG FROST

"The National Weather Service has posted a frost advisory from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday for northern Berkshire County in Massachusetts and a freeze warning for portions of New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.

A severe frost could threaten uncovered outdoor plants or sensitive crops.

Temperatures are expected to climb no higher than the 60s during the day Thursday but rebound into the 70s toward the end of the week. "

Cover them up well, ladies and gents. I have a couple of weeks left, and I'll be damned if I lose them to some freak frost. Best of luck to you all!

Stay Safe,

HuffandPuff
