A good pit would fuck a wolf up in about a minute I saw one single pit take down a 300 pound boar to the ground in 20 seconds if there trained to kill its all pit.

no doubt in my mind that an animal that fights all its life in a pack for dominance and all the time for food would demolish the pit. Pits are all fight where the wolf is smart and would go for the kill every single bite. Pits are tough tho, it would kill any other dog but i think a wolf would have no problem with it.

the american pit bull terrier, which i assume is the breed most people are referring to when they say "pit bull", originated from stock that was bred for bull and bear baiting. also, those first bulldogs were not the obese, mutated tank-like pit bulls becoming so fashionable as of late, commonly called "american bullies", usually consisting of polyhybrid american staffordshire terrier bloodlines (razor's edge, gotti), but rather small-ish, spry and well-muscled athletic dogs usually weighing no more than 60lbs., usually closer to 40-45lbs. there is no question that a true game-bred APBT, is capable of dispatching a wolf.

I've never seen a Wolf "fight" before.. They either get the kill or not.. I have owned Pit bulls for all my young and young adult life.. some of my pits had the "fighter instinct" and some didnt.. Most of my pits where between 60-120 pounds in weight. I thought for many years that pits where the most bad ass dogs in comparison to other dogs, in the way of physical dominance. Well.. One winter i was visiting my Uncle up north. One day we where outside in the early morning hitting a bowl of some kind green. My uncle looks at the ground and says "Bear is coming, dont look into his eyes! I thought to myself "Shit a bear,, where is it"? I told my uncle i dont see no bear. He told me "Bear is his name, its a wolf that lives here locally". About 2 minutes later, i noticed a HUGE wolf coming out of the edge of the forest tree line. My first instinct was to run for the house.. but my uncle told me "dont you fuckin move". So i sat there ready to piss myself. The wolf came right up to us and was looking for food hand outs. To my suprise the Wolf was some what tame. My uncle told me that he comes up to his and the neighbors house looking for food almost daily. After a few minutes of the wolf just standing in front of us (just chillin i guess), my uncle put his hand infront of himself and the wolf looked away and let my uncle pet him on the back.. Then he told me to give it a try, and to NOT look into his eyes. So i put my hand up, and started to pet the back of the wolf, the wolf turned to look and see who was petting him, and he looked at me in the eye, and i was lost in his eyes with mine, until about 1 second later the wolf changed his demeanor and and i looked away STAT! and pulled my arm back to me.. after a few minutes (after we where done smoking) we stood up to go back in the house. At that time i noticed that the Wolf is NOT a dog. I'm 5'8" tall and the Wolf's head comes to my sternum. After a few more visits to my uncles the wolf is more and more domesticated with the family and one year he came up to me and sat on my foot and leaned on my leg. And I had a VERY hard time standing there.. I dont know the weight of the wolf but i would imagine somewhere around 200-250 lbs easy.. I feel the pit bulls are out of their weight class.. it might get a bit or few in on the wolf, but the wolf WOULD over power a pit bull with ease.
Now let me explain,, this was a REAL wolf, not some half bread city mix.. this sum-bish came from the forest and was the real deal, no half steppin'. I for one thought wolfs where the size of normal large dog breeds. After encountering Bear, I know better. I didnt think any type of dog could get that large.. Bears head was as wide as my hips.. (i'm a normal size guy) and his body was long. He was much bigger than the "wolf pets" a couple of my friends parents had while growing up..
I think alot of people see picture of majestic wolves in the wild, with all the pretty snow, and sunsets. Those pictures dont show the size and power of the Wolf at all. I've had Mastiffs come and sit on my foot and lean on my leg that where 200lbs, and still that Wolf outweighed them easily.
so i vote Wolf.
Another quick thought,, Who would win in a cat fight? Meow, meow domesticated Cat or a wild Bob cat? heh,, same question different animal.. and the answer is obvious.
As i recall, my buddy who bread fighting pit bulls, would NOT allow his dog to jump or lunge into a fight, and to keep the dog attacking from a low lying position.. and a fighting pit is at best 20" to his snout. and the wolfs neck is around 30-35" from the ground. So a 20" tall pit is gonna have to lunge up at the wolf, exposing its neck as well... once the pit lunges its over.. All the muscle on the pit wont save him now.. while his is air born, all the wolf has to do is engulf the pits head into its mouth..and crush..(not to say that would happen 100% of the time, but...).

My money would be on a ghetto raised pit. My friend has a pit that weighs almost a hundred and fifty pounds and i have seen it demolish other dogs. Not an advocate of animal fighting but hey who wouldnt watch. Wolves are born killers for survival. Pits raised to fight are more evil cause they dont have the flight instinct in them. A wolf would run away if it was scared.

Yes sir, I would say a 100-125lbs. wolf would catch an ass-whippin from a game bred Pit. Well, I have only seen 2 wolves in my life. One, was so f*cking big, I had to pull over and see on the side of the road. The damn thing looked like a monster. The head on it, is probably 35-40lbs. Guessing! I will repeat, some of youguys have never seen a Pits fight, a top class Pit, not your homies Pit bull that answers the door when you visit, but the dog that sleeps in some fat mans bedroom, who he spent 15k on genetics, and trained his ass for 4 years for his first scratch off, WOULD WHIP A WOLF'S ASS! Enough said, I'm leavin.

Opps, my girl said that wasn't a wolf, it was something else, plus I just looked it up on wikipedia.

Hahaha, the wolf would run away if it was scared!!! thats some shit right there.. Chubbynugs,, try looking into the eyes of a real wolf,, two seconds later, you would find him wrapped around your neck.. The wolf would attack on the fact that "another" being is challenging him by looking at him.. hahahahahha.!. i've looked into the eyes of foaming enraged pit bulls and all they do is bark and bounce around..

Please.. understand if you have never been around a wild wolf, it is understandable that you would pick a pit bull, hence its the only variable for you to chose from.. although be it, your wrong..

I dont see anyone getting a wild wolf into a cage fight with a pit bull., but i could see letting a pit bull run off the leash in the woods and coming across a wild wolf. And in that situation the Dog would not challenge the Wolf. why? Dogs are more of a territorial defender. And if that wolf was in hunger, your leash would not have a dog to attach it to..

Some quick research seems to indicate the AVERAGE weight for a North American wolf is about 100 lbs.

As for the cat thing...I actually thought about that. I've owned more cats than dogs and currently have a 9 lb fixed woman that seems to live to kill things...blow her up to 150 lbs and you got a puma...lol....we have those around here and known to have killed people...solitary predator...not like those wimpy pack wolves.

wolves are pack hunters, not "killers". they do not kill for sport, but for need. the game-bred american pit bull terrier was bred to kill "wild" animals, namely bulls and bears, as well as other dogs, for sport not for need. one animal has been specifically selected and bred for killing large, tough, "wild" animals. the other, bred to hunt with pack mates and kill for necessity for sustenance and territorial/pack defense.

to the educated dogman, there is no question which animal is superior.

A pit wouldnt even wait to attack. There is no sizing your opponent up. Believe me i know a wolf can rip some shit up. And no i wouldnt wanna look a wolf in its eyes. We will never know though for sure to be honest unless someone fights them and films it. A real fighting pit would never run out in the woods. It would just sit next to its owner and not make a move til it was told. The animals i speak of are bread for fighting. The weak ones are culled at a young age in some disgusting ways sometimes. I have seen a pit get shot with a 45 and keep fighting. It was a wild dog roaming the streets of LA and got in a tussle with my firends rott. It ran off once we pulled the rott off of it but these dogs got heart man. That wild pit was more gangster then most of us hanging on that corner.

a pitbull tried to attack me once, was circling me and being mean. there was even an ordinance against it in our city.

so I ran straight at it and it started to run away, but then when I stopped chasing it...then it wanted to fight. I just kept doing that until the owner came out and called it.

I couldve won.

Not all pits are tough. Some just wish they were.

he proly just smelling you,,,and you probably freaked him out >>>

betty (my blue nose)) she is trouble maker>>if she gets out the front yard

and you try to chase her,,she will run for miles>>>but if you haul back the

other direction>>>she chase you back in the house::::very common game

among many pitbulls and boxers>>>inna fight she would rip you to pieces

and shes not even the big one....

people who do not own pitbulls have a hard time grasping their abilities.

they can jump very high (espicaly for their low center of gravity),, have

incredible jaw power>>>but they have MUSCLE. alot more weight to them

than you would think from their size,,,and with their speed:::they can cause

some serious damage. saying that i have never had any of my pits get in

a fight or bite anyone. only one dog of mine was in a fight,,,and that was

when we were hiking through backtrails and approached by mountain lion.

i really dont think any other dog would have had that same loyalty...

the media has demonized pits malicously,,any pit owner will tell you all that

shit is hype>> pits are one of the most loyal dogs ever and will do anything

to protect their master.iv owned many animals in my life,,,but pits have

always been special.

I've never seen a wolf with a harness pulling a minivan, but
I've seen pitts do it. If a pitt locked on a wolf it could probably go running down the street with it. :spank:

I'm going with the pit bull on this one, but I'm assuming it be a big dog and a true figther. The wolf would outweigh the dog probably but its main disadvantge would be the fact that wolves are pack hunters and killers, they wear their prey down to exhaustion before killing it, this is done as a pack, and they rarely consider anything that would fight back as prey so they're not used to matching up in the pit as a fighting dog would be. Pit bulls (fighters) are highly trained 'one on one' killers with matches lasting up to an hour in some cases.

my vote is with a dog and I also feel badly thinking/talking bout this.

me blunt is like, wicked yo!! owight
lets see, an animal that has to fight to please, another that has to fight to survive; one that still fights with all types of parts damaged verses one that will take away its own parts, if need be, to survive. . . . .hmmm. . . . yeah im going with wolf.

but hey i say , put it the test. im sure there are some hunters that are ballsy enough to trap a wolf huh? well trap one and someone bring along one of those "trained/true bred/huge head pitbull bastards along and put them to them/it to the test!

Shouldn't you go for the pit bull based on that? Fighting pit bulls are trained to fight 1v1 to the death. Like you said, wolves work in a pack to wear their prey down. They do fight for dominance, that has to be given some weight. Who knows? :bashhead:
