Haha! I like you man, not much you can do but be prepared. I remember when Katrina hit the beer was very cheap in my area. I think it was something like five dollers a 12 pack, I spent 35...wow thats a lot of beer for the money.

But seriously if you are in a storms path, get supplies, secure loose items and try to relax. If the storm is really bad or you are in a bad area(flood prone) GET OUT!!! Keep safe

Reminds me of an ice storm we had here in a southern state a couple years ago. People down here don't know how to deal with the snow and so when an inch, yes an inch, is forecasted they shut down the schools. I had a few days off of work because of it and while everyone was at the grocer buying bottled water, batteries, candles, etc, all my northern friends and I were buying cases of beer and smokes. It was great !

when hurricanes or typhoons hit your area ..the best advice is to stay indoors...most people get injured or killed by falling branches and neon signs.

For some reason....this reminds me of Hurricane Andrew in 93. Mass devastation.

How are homes constructed down there? 2x4? Concrete slab? Block Foundation?
I dont understand. In Alaska we get at least 3 100mph+ storms a year and we make out just fine with all minimal damage. Sometimes I wonder what building code is in Fl,Miss, and LA....that could be part of the problem in why these areas are trashed every hurricane.

Actually, most peope that get killed in hurricanes die from drowning in the storm surge. However, like you said, it's a good idea to say indoors and avoid any flying debris.

OMT good for you but some of these structures are facing a cat four or more..thats not 100+ thats 135 + i dont care what kind of codes you have up there a house is gonna get beat the fuck up no matter who built it. There are lots of buildings built in the 70's and 80's that are not up to the code of today some people cant afford to live in a brand new "up to code" home sorry if that comes as a shock to some of you but its the truth.
Send your good vibes this way :D
