Hey any South American football fans out there - could anyone give me a rundown of Diego Cavalieri? what's he like? strengths/weaknesses? personality? Cheers, apparently he's in liverpool having a medical.

How about the transfer gossip this summer? Villa to Liverpool? C. Ronaldo to Madrid? Lampard to Inter? Adebayour to Milan? What do you guys think?

regarding transfers well i expect United to keep Ronaldo, he doesn't do himself any favours with his flip-flopping, kind of like a politican. maybe though it's aploy to expose real as the scum team they are. Sepp Blatter(twat) has come out and said players are being treated like slaves, what a fucking moron, how can this tit be the boss of football? he's also a member of Real Madrid! Corrupt bastard, he hates the success of the Premiership.

I think United will get a striker or right-back this summer this summer, I'm hoping for Eto'o or that Arshavin bloke, David Villa would be a good buy for us, hope he doesn't go to Liverpool, Villa and Torres would be a formidable partnership.

Yes I agree, English football in particular! Every time they speak there's a jab at the English, Blatter said some crap about England 2018 WC bid too! They should both be sacked for xenophobia and sticking their noses in things which aren't their business!

Ya but look they got funds for robbie keane and altho im waiting for that mouth watering partnership between keane and torres i still think 20 mil was too much...

besides why on earth would you sell xabi alonso to bring barry he is good but with all the talent you have in the midfield i cant grasp it... ohwell i think we might have be able to have a go at the league... altho well prolly fizzle out like we have been doing.

I believe any money given is in a loan, they have also had plenty of money in.... personally I'd sell alonso.. for me he hasn't performed in the prem he gets time in europe on the ball.. although i'd like to see him operate more foward but this imposes on gerrards play.. with barry and his left peg you get more options, different angles he will also as a good defensive player give gerrard more freedom... also rafa does bare grudges

true, but i think alonso is such a great addition he can be used anywhere on in the midfield... but he never got many starts and even in euro 08 he was always coming off the bench... but well see what happens...

I agree - if it was a straight choice between Barry and Alonso, I'd have to go for Barry based on his premiership performances alone. Preferably I'd like to keep both but we'll see tonight eh?

Mascherano and Lucas off at the Olympics, Gerrard probably not fit. That leaves Alonso, Plessis and Spearing as our only central midfielders. Would Rafa dare to pick Plessis and Spearing in such a crucial game and leave Xabi on the bench? (possibly worth £20million if we drop out of the champions league) If he plays Xabi then he's definately going nowhere as he'll be cuptied and his value would drop significantly.

But then if Villa play Barry in their Uefa cup game, the same thing will apply and Barry would be cup-tied. Barry's main reason for wanting to leave Villa was the lure of Champions league football so I doubt he'd still want to leave and just play for us in the premiership - although this could be his only chance to move to a top four club.



Whatever happens, I'm just looking forward to getting back to proper football. The season starts tonight!

With Dossena and Arbeloa providing the width on the flanks, Plessis going out to cover the left. Kuyt sures up the right, allowing Alonso to float and get forward more like he has done in preseason.

ya liverpool are a bit stuck for the CL q, but im sure they will get through it fine, its Rafa's league... now they are saying that the barry transfer is stalling cause if chealsea get robhino then liverpool will try and get joe cole a propper attacking midfielder... barry is a good player but not word class...
barry is left/center midfield,,,,, id like to see some propper wingers ie. Silva ( his agent says he is happy at Valencia) Turan from galataray looks a quality player, Quersama is a very good player 2..
the american owners are a bit tight i think...

ya i have seen barry and hes got skill but i dont rate him world class, and sammet i thought they changed the ruling on that that the CL and uefa cup were diffrent so players woulnt be cup tied.../

but like i sayed id rather have alonso someone who has such technical skill and vision id compare him to pirlo... he can perfectly feed balls whereever they need to be... and i dont agree on selling kuyt huge skill huge heart and he never stops... he literally runs the whole game....

Poor half so far - our midfield especially is looking very disjointed. They're coming back to get the ball from the back and are leaving Torres and Keane very isolated. They're also getting seven shades of shit out Nando - leave off! Benny Noon seems to be having a good game, he looks like the only player able to hold the ball at the moment.

Anyone else dislike the ITV commentry? Clive Tyldsley and Robbie Earl are doing my head in.

The Robinho signing was HUGE. I'm glad he went to City instead of Chelsea. Finally the blue pensioners couldn't buy their way out of trouble!

We got Berbatov over at United. He should be deadly working with the likes of Ronaldo (when he's back), but I hope this doesn't mean Tevez will be sitting. I think Tevez is one of the best players on the United squad and I really enjoy watching his hard working brand of football.

We don't have the buzz of any big name coming to us in this close season transfer window...Robinho, Berbatov? We've got Silvestre - an injured Utd reject - good player but what message are we sending out there?

The youngsters - the youngsters - getting a bit sick of hearing about the youngsters (as good as they can be). What happened to the days of Vieira, Petit, Henry - Bergkamp - Anelka (when he was good) Overmars...weren't so long ago.

Wenger says we are now a selling club until 2016. It looks as though my boy will end up being swayed over to Utd or Chelsea when he starts school - sad.
