DIY Aero Cloner the EZ-Cloner Replica in 10 Easy Steps!

Never mind. Traced the problem to pump output. Traded it out for a 550 GPH pump that I had and removed the Hydroton. Just running net pots with ghetto Dollar Store play mat discs. Works fine now...no wilters!

I got a 250 gph and 1250 gph duno if i wanna just go all out and make a huge 120-200 site one or 30-60 with the 250 I duno well see I guess...

I just built one of the with 50 micron sprayers, leftover from an old aero project.Drilled and tapped em in.Would there be any advantage to using r.o. water, over tap?I have to haul water from town, and put it in an old cistern, with roots growing in it.I r.o.filter all my drinking water.

Could I use a 31 Gallon Roughneck and only have (8) 3'' net pots and also use it to veg the plant until a transplant to the flower room? Or is this design just to root clones?

Thanks =)

Well I've taken the plung. Got the 31gal roughneck , 16 misters , net pots with the bottoms cut off, cutouts from a neal pad for 40 sites, 1/2" PVC , 390GPH pump. Just waiting for the pump to arive as all else is done and waiting.
Hope I like this way of cloning!!! I'll try and remember to update the results when all is working.

You guys mind if a total newb asks a few questions related to the cloning process here (been searching and have yet to find the answers I am looking for.) I like this system and thank the King for posting the details, may Karma bless you kind sir. Plan to build a unit just like his only scaled down somewhat since I can only grow 4 plants at a time (in my state 5 or more is cultivation with intent, and 4 gives me plenty for my own med needs.)

I am in the flowering stage of my first ever hydro garden (wishing I had made the jump years ago now) and I am looking at harvesting anywhere from mid Sept to late Oct. When exactly should I start thinking about taking my cutting to have them ready once this garden has given all she has? Also, I am currently growing in rockwool cubes placed in 6in net pots filled with hydroton; is there an easy method for placing the rooted cuttings into the rockwool without damaging the new formed root system? Finally, to get 4 healthy plants, how many clones should I attempt to start, and how much would I need to scale back the King's plan here to fit my needs? Being disabled means I am on a bit of a budget, so anywhere I can save a dollar is always a welcome nugget of wisdom for me. I have 4 very beautiful ladies that I started from bag seed (I'm a disabled old hippie, I can't see paying more for a few fancy seeds than a good bad of smoke and take the chance on never seeing them), with quite a few tops beginning to show the sweetness that is resin filled ovaries, so I would really like to see these girls continue their legacy.

Hey gobwats..if your looking to build a smaller version just buy a 5 gallon hydro bucket with lid, small water pump, some 3/4in pvc, 360 spinning sprayer, small submersable heater set at76-82F. then just cut out how ever many spaces in the lid for you cuts, put in some neoprean plugs or foam plugs whatever you can find..anything will work as long as it holds the cut in place. make sure the sprayer hits all the stems when spinning..should have roots in 7-14 days. hope this helps

Thanks much for the response mango420, as well as the advice. I have actually done the cuttings thing many moons ago with ornamentals using a large misting table (also where I got started growing weed at the sweet age of 14) but I'm new to the ways of hydro weed. I've read recommendations to 50% more than you need, which in my case would amount to 6 clones. Being an old math fart, that does not seem like very good odds to me; I was thinking more along the lines of 8-12 clones, keeping the 4 most vigorous for my next grow, and offering the excess to anyone in the are that might want them (too late in the year to think about doing a bit of ridge walking and adding to mother nature's beauty.) Still looking at the pro's and con's between the aero cloning and Rockwool cloning. Is there a simple way to combine the 2? I ask because I am growing in Rockwool now and it seems to be working really great in my setup. Mucho appreciative of any and all advice shared with this newb (feels weird calling myself that given that I have been growing since the early 70's, but I am new to indoor hydro and wish I had picked up on it long ago.) Peace all.

If you were gonna be trying this system for the first time i would suggest taking at least double the amount of cuts that you will flower. My first run with this diy system i got about 80% rooted..best % in years. If your just putting these in hydroton after rooted, just put about an inch of medium in bottom of pot, then sit ur rooted cut ontop and gently fill the rest of the netpot with medium around the cut..no more use for rockwool..anything else just ask

Whats with all the tap crap.... just find a drill bit that is the same size as your sprayers, drill some holes and screw them in... man i even used vice grips on the sprayers and just twisted them around till them were all the way in.

Quick question for you guys. I want to do a 20 site or less cloner. Was looking at the ecoplus 396 gph or via aqua 370 gph. Which one would you guys say is better. How big of a rubber maid would you suggest with how many sprayers. I've read every post in this thread and its awesome. Not have very good luck doing the humidity dome with rapid rooters. Thanks for all the help.

I have an EcoPlus 265 running three 360 degree misters on a single t-bar and they're working out great. It's a 24 site setup. I'm sure you'll be fine with either pump. Watch out though, I had to try multiple tubs before I found one that didn't leak.

Thanks for the info, Postmaster. Think I will go with the via aqua, and after reading everyones posts, leakage seems to be the only problem period. Can't wait to get mine set up and going, out with the old school cloning.
